"Thank you so much, we appreciate your business."
"This is our standard charge for a main drain whether it take 1/2 hour or 2 hours. This includes a service call labor and machine usage."
of the master toilet upstairs and water leaking through our kitchen ceiling. We called the warranty company and again they sent a technician from Miller Ranney to fix the problem. It was a different technician this time and he decided to replace 2 wax seals (one for the toilet and one for the pipe the toilet connects to.) The technician tested the toilet for leaks and assured us the toilet should not leak. However, later that evening the toilet once again had water around the base of it although no more leaked through our kitchen ceiling (we emptied the toilet bowl and tank of all water immediately). This time when we called our warranty company, they contacted a drain specialist to see if there might be a clog somewhere in the piping causing the issue.
He determined there was not, but when he inspected the back of the toilet he noticed the back bolt that connects the tank to the toilet bowl had not been tightened all the way and there was a stream of water flowing from it down to and around the base of the toilet. This man, who was not a plumber, upon a quick glance at the toilet, had finally identified the issue.
Once again we called our warranty company and they contacted Miller Ranney who sent out the same technician from last time (no. 2) and he replaced all the bolts holding the tank to the bowl which finally solved the issue. When I tried to obtain compensation from Miller Ranney for the damage to our kitchen ceiling, I was contacted by a customer service agent who said she had spoken to the owner and he determined that there must have been water preexisting to them coming out the first time
which caused the leaky ceiling. I have several issues with the way this was handled.
1. There was not a huge amount of water that leaked through, only enough to cause an area of damage about 2 and ½ feet long and about 2 inches wide. If water had been sitting there for some time, then the water damage would have been more
extensive. Nothing else in the house leaks and all drains function properly. The only possible way this could have happened is with the work that was not done properly the 1st time with the upstairs master toilet. Nothing was noticed upon home inspection which was obviously done shortly before moving in.
2. If there was preexisting water just hanging above the kitchen ceiling, then the problem was definitely made worse when the toilet wasn?t repaired properly the first time.
3. It took 4 visits by this company to fix a faulty bolt which should have been looked at once the toilet was put back together at
the 1st visit. It took someone who was not even a plumber to identify the problem.
4. I did not get to speak to the owner on this issue and would have at least liked an in-depth explanation on how he thought
this was not caused by his company?s work.
Due to this experience, I would not recommend this company to anyone. If I had replaced the seal myself, we could have avoided the damage to our ceiling because I would have been more thorough then Miller Ranney Plumbing.
