Today's experience, however, will prevent me from ever using them again. Our MB shower drain needed cleared (as it does every year due to my long hair), and we were charged $200 for the 20 minute job. I was shocked at the price increase. 1 year ago (on 12/13/13) we were charged $95 for cleaning 2 drains (the same bathroom as today, plus the hallway shower drain). When I expressed my disbelief to the technician, he stated that there was a "price increase" in September.
I do understand that businesses must increase prices, but an 110% price increase seems a bit excessive--especially since we were not told of this massive increase when we called to make our appointment.
While the technician was here, I called the office and spoke with Abby. She simply said it was a management decision to increase prices and the best she could do was talk to a manager and call me right back. I did tell her that since I felt completely blindsided, this would prevent me from using McAtee in the future. She never called.
The fact that I am a repeat customer, the job was clear cut, and they offered nothing to help rectify the situation leaves me no choice but to find a new plumber. The "F" scores I have listed refer to the management and not the people I have been in contact with. Abby has always been pleasant and courteous on the phone. Even today, she clearly knew I was upset and said she would talk to the manager. I am very surprised she never called back. The various technicians who have been to my home over the last 12 months have always been friendly and knowledgeable.
Someone in charge clearly dropped the ball on this one.

We at McAtee have researched the topic long and hard before making changes to our pricing structure. We have made the changes necessary which put us in tune with industry standards, and allow us to continue to operate business effectively for the benefit of our customers. Our research found that industry standards locally for the same service range from $195-$330. Again, with the increase in the variables that are taken into account when setting pricing, we were forced to make changes to continue to operate productively. We do apologize for you not being contacted by a manager sooner, and have implemented specific guidelines to ensure a rapid response from a member of the management team going forward."

I am not sure about prices for other plumbers, but I was originally going to be charged $325 before I asked about the 10% Angie's discount that was listed by the company. Originally, there was a mix-up in scheduling. The worker was knowledgeable, quick and accurate in his work. Thank you.

We began using McAtee after they fixed problems with our sewer line as then covered under Columbia Service Partners insurance. They had to dig up part of our front yard to replace sewer pipe and we were very satisfied with the company.
They are very nice and responsive.
