They were a tiny bit early (which was fine) and there were four movers, which was a surprise but also fine. They were nice and appeared careful. The original plan was for the movers to pick up my stuff on Friday and deliver my stuff on Saturday but the lead mover wanted to do it all in one day. This added to my stress but was doable. The guys were nice and were careful with my stuff. The lead guy fixed a couple of things for me and helped me with something in my car. I would recommend them.

We had used this moving company before and loved the work they did and the price.  This move was no different.  The estimate they gave me was the price I paid.  I was given packing boxes (for free).  The movers were efficient, friendly, and were very careful with our belongings.  They showed up on time, worked hard and offered suggestions on how to pack several items which we had not gotten to.  On move in day they were right on time and again were careful with moving everything in.  They even made suggestions on furniture placement.  These gentlemen were awesome.  I hope I never move again but if I do, I am calling Lewis and Michael.

lAfter calling around and getting over the phone estimates for my mother's move to Charlotte, I finally called Lewis and Michael and talked to Irene.  She stated she would need to come out to give me an estimate.  We arranged a time and she was prompt.  Her estimate was $2400 and her time frame included a 7-14 day delivery window.  Due to the estimate and the wonderful advocate, Irene, we decided to go with Lewis and Michael Movers.  Irene was nice enough to drop off lots of packing boxes (free) and we set a pick up date and time.  After explaining to Irene that my mother needed to get into her new home as quickly as possible, she was able to talk to the actual movers and they agreed to pick up her furniture on 9/30/13 and deliver it in Charlotte on 10/1/13.  I stayed in her apartment while the movers worked.  They were amazing.  They were thorough and so careful with all her belongings.  The furniture was wrapped  with care and all the boxes marked fragile were indeed treated gently.  They were done in two hours.  My sister met the movers in Charlotte and said they did such a great job unloading and setting up my mother's things.  The movers asked if the room was set up the way she wanted because they would move the furniture around if she was not happy.  After all of this great service, they were able to come in under estimate!  I plan on moving in the spring and will definitely be calling Irene!

The service was great.   The salesperson, Irene Lane was friendly and has many years of experience.  She would respond to any questions I had. Her quote was lower than other quotes I received.  She also provided me with a complimentary mirror box. The movers were professional and courteous and very careful with my items.  They called ahead to let me know when they would pick up my items and gave me a two day window on when they would be delivered.  All items arrived with no damage noted!

Because the move had such a low total weight and consisted of only a few items, the agent at Lewis & Michael gave me a large reduction in price over the usual Atlas Van Lines minimum charge for moving from Ohio to Massachusetts. Another moving
company that I had contacted quoted a price about $1000 higher. The date of the pickup (Oct. 18)  was arranged a few
weeks in advance and the delivery was set up as anywhere in the  range 2 days to 2 weeks after pickup since my load would be
combined other loads. They called me on Oct. 17th to specify the two-hour window when they would arrive the next day.
They arrived within that time slot and loaded the truck. Atlas Van Lines told me on Monday, Oct. 22nd, that the delivery would be  on Wed., morning Oct. 24th. The delivery arrived on Wed., everything arrived,and nothing was damaged. The movers making the
delivery were quite professional in figuring out how to move my large desk into the room.
 (I was lucky that the delivery was made that week since Oct. 29th was Superstorm Sandy!).

Overall the services were fine. They were reasonably priced.

They give you a competitive price.It went excellent. They were punctual and very nice. They took extreme care of my belongings and nothing was broke.

They were very professional and quick. They handled everything very thoroughly.

I used Irene Lane at Lewis & Michaels a couple of years ago to move a bedroom set and some high value collectibles from Columbus OH to my daughter in CT.  It cost less than it would have cost to rent a U-Haul, never mind the time.  Irene found a smaller truck that could get into our driveway, which can't accomodate a full size moving van, thus saving us the cost of moving the stuff to a depot and then reloading it on a big truck.  The movers were right on time, did an extremely professional job of loading and protecting the furniture and high value breakables, delivered exactly on time, and unloaded and set up everything for my daughter.  It was a WOW experience, and best of all, it cost about a third LESS than the quote which was very reasonable to begin with.

So when it was time to move us from Columbus to NC last fall, I went looking for Irene again, and Lewis & Michaels, an Atlas Van Lines mover, which was all I could remember, found her immediately.  She found me the same moving person with the same truck I had used before.  They packed for us, loaded and delivered immediately, so we were without our bed only 2 nights.  Another WOW experience and again about 1/3 less than the estimate.  Plus we had them bring down one of our cars as a partial load, on another enclosed truck for a very reasonable price.

Having completed construction of my husband's new shop, horse barn and very big equipment shed here in NC, we are now moving the rest - my kennel, the barn, my husband's auto maintenance shop and all our farm equipment, and you guessed it, the same mover and truck and again a great price.

Getting a mover is perilous.  The business is full of brokers who lie, cheat and generally take their victims to the cleaners, and use truckers you wouldn't want to wish on your worst enemy (this is now a deregulated industry, which means it is open season on the inexperienced; you have ZERO PROTECTION from the crooks and scammers).  We have moved a lot over the years. Finding a company like Lewis and Michaels, and especially Irene Lane is one in a million.

Job went smoothly -- very professional.  We were very satisfied.

Arrival time was scheduled from 8 to 9 and they arrived at 9. They toured the house then began loading. The team was professional and polite. For whatever reason they started in the basement, and it took them nearly 3 hours to load the basement. To do it again I would have asked they started upstairs, becuase the basement is little stuff we could move ourselves if we had to. By the time they made their way to the upstairs bedrooms, they were out of room on the truck. They ended up making a second trip. Since our move was only a few miles this wasn't an issue, but for a longer distance it would cost you much more $. It was nearly 2:30 before the truck was loaded. They took their hour lunch which ended up being 1 1/2 hours! They didn't arrive at the new house until after 4 to start unloading. Then, they had to make that second trip, so they weren't finished until nearly 9pm. It made for a very long day. I was frustrated that they finished so late. We even helped them unload just so they could get done faster, becuase we had to put the kids to bed ... but we didn't have the beds yet. I'd use them again, but I'd have to manage their day.

We had to hire movers on the spur of the moment, because I became ill. Dave came out and gave an estimate, and was very kind and professional. On moving day, three guys came out. Not only did they do an excellent job, but they were good around my kids, and took special care not to let the 2-year-old run out the front door. They asked us *for permission* every single time they stopped moving at warp-speed. For example: "Would you mind if we took a 10-minute break?" I was thinking, "Dude, you've been working like a mad man for several hours straight---please do!!!" I would definitely hire them again, or recommend them to friends.

Irene came out and walked through the house and gave an estimate for moving all household items from the south end of Columbus to Upper Arlington. She showed up on time and was very prompt to return e-mails/phone calls. Everything she said would happen did happen! She said someone would call the day before to confirm the move. The movers would show up between 8 & 9, they got there at 8:15. They sent 4 men and 2 trucks. These guys were awesome! They moved quick... had the house loaded up in about 3.5 hours. The foreman said they had a 20 minute drive time to the new house and would take 30 minutes for lunch so they would be there by 12:30. And they were! They had everything off the truck by about 3:30. These men worked quickly and efficiently, were very personable, professional and worked well together. I could not have hired a better crew!

They were extremely responsive, everything arrived promptly, also if we ran into a problem they were responsive. I would use them again.

REX, THE SALESMAN WAS VERY POLITE, PUNCTUAL AND HELPFUL. HE ASSURED ME THAT THE COMPANY COULD ACCOMODATE THE CONSTRAINTS PLACED ON THE MOVE BY THE APARTMENT COMPLEX IN DC. DESPITE SEVERAL TELEPHONE CALLS WITH SALES STAFF ABOUT THE RESTRICTIONS ON THE MOVE, INCLUDING A REQUEST TO CONTACT A DC MOVING COMPANY TO DETERMINE LOGISTICALLY WHETHER A SEMI COULD MANUEVER INTO THE PARKING LOT OF THE APARTMENT BUILDING, MY MOVE WAS LESS THAN SMOOTH. THE PACKERS WERE ALMOST 2 HOURS LATE. ITEMS WERE NOT INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED (AS PROMISED) AND A LARGE NUMBER OF ITEMS WERE NOT PACKED. THESE ITEMS WERE IN A CLOSET BLOCKED BY MOVING BOXES, SO I DID NOT REALIZE THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE TRUCK ARRIVED THE NEXT DAY. THE TRUCK WAS A SEMI AND THE DRIVER WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH. HE THREATENED TO PUT MY ITEMS IN STORAGE UNLESS THE APARTMENT COMPLEX WOULD ACCOMODATE HIS SCHEDULE, WAS 1 1/2 HOURS LATE ON THE SCHEDULED DELIVERY DATE AND REFUSED TO TAKE EMPTY MOVING CARTONS AWAY. VERY DISAPPOINTING.
