I contacted Legg & Davis for an estimate on a driveway expansion, & a gentleman was out the very next morning! On a later date, I requested a second estimate for a different section of my yard, and they had someone out within an hour to provide estimate! I was highly impressed with their effort & punctuality. I hired Legg & Davis to do the work, & they got me scheduled very quickly & they were there on the appointed day, on time, & did an excellent job! The crew was polite, efficient & professional. I am highly impressed with this company!

Todd and his crew arrived on time the day work was to begin (and every day thereafter) and started precise planning for this complex project, checking grades and elevations, identifying the precise location of the property line, and laying out sections for the pour as well as the exact location of the trench drain and drain pipe. Once this work was done, they began demolition of the existing 40 year old driveway and removal of dirt and concrete from the patio area to be expanded. They were very careful with our property and with our neighbor's driveway, where they had to saw cut a strip along its edge in order to set forms; later they restored the neighbor's driveway with asphalt. I was particularly impressed with the way they removed the 9" curb that bordered our driveway and the neighbor's -- the portion next to the neighboring asphalt driveway required almost surgical precision to extract without damaging anything. The process as a whole was methodical -- excavation, application of very high quality fill, pipe laying, section by section pouring of concrete, removal of forms, installation of window wells, back filling of excavated garden areas with good quality topsoil, protection of newly poured concrete from rainfall, etc. It took ten days to complete the project, which was only two days more than we had been promised. The crew were a pleasure to work with -- careful and good at their jobs, a real team. Todd was an impressive manager, ready to answer questions and consult as the need arose. It's important for me to stress that this was not the kind of job where a crew could come in, rip out a driveway, and leave a couple of days later; it was complex and presented multiple difficulties, some anticipated, some only discovered as the work progressed. The Legg & Davis crew rose to the occasion, never hurried, and always went the extra mile. We now have a fine-looking 5" reinforced concrete driveway (actually 5 1/2 inches, and in some places thicker) that pleases us. This is an excellent company and I recommend them strongly.

We were waiting for the weather to be right before getting the work done. They were fine. It?s an old company and the work went very well. There is another part of the job which is still not completed. So we are expecting them to come back to get that done. They do have the most up-to-date equipment and so the job gets done fairly rapidly. They have kept themselves up-to-date on the way they do things. Their prices are very high. The quality of their work is very good. They have assured us that they will complete the job. Their responsiveness was fine. They came out when they said they were going to come out. Their professionalism was fine as well. I am going to use their services again for the seal coating job.

They are excellent. They are very respectful of time and do an excellent job of catering to customers needs. For instance, they put boards across the sidewalk for us to walk across. The workers seemed to be very smart and knew what they were doing. This was a wonderful experience, overall.

This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. Legg and Davis was slow to schedule us, didn't call us to even let us know we were on the schedule, didn't respond to calls to discuss the work, supposedly stopped by to see an issue but never bothered to knock and talk to us, and most importantly, tore up our front lawn and left a low spot in our driveway that they refuse to accept as their responsibility. After signing the estimate and mailing it in, we didn't hear from them so called after two weeks. We were told they would call one week before the work was to be done. Another two weeks went by and we called again to be told they were coming in two days and we needed to be ready. They came out and got going and completed the work in 2-3 days. During this, they dumped their topsoil on our front yard and proceeded to scrape away the grass underneath when shoveling the soil up to dress the edges of the driveway - but that turned out to be a minor issue. The real problem started when it rained the day after they finished. There was a large puddle of water ~1/2 inch deep right near our back steps, so we immediately had wet shoes trying to maneuver around. They stopped by the next week and the original crew agreed that there was an issue and said someone would stop by to address it. No one came so we called the office again. Jeff Teach said that he had stopped by (but hadn't talked to us) and that he didn't see a problem. He said the oil on the surface was slowing water flow and would be gone by spring but said he would stop by again after the next rain. Another 2-3 weeks went by, it rained several times and no sign of them until we got a letter stating that they didn't see a problem, considered the work complete and they demanded payment. We called and left a message asking to be called back. Two to three weeks later, we received notice of a mechanics lien being placed on our property so called their lawyer and were told that Legg and Davis still didn't see a problem. After another 2 months of trying to resolve this and getting no answers, unreturned phone calls and the same story, we filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Legg and Davis responded with the same empty claims and continued to refuse to do anything to help. We even offered to let them seal the driveway since they said that would fix the problem, but they refused. Overall, the BBB wasn't much help since they were just conduit for messages and L&D simply repeated their claims. We have now paid L&D since we felt we'd reach an end of discussion. We will get someone else to fix the low spot in our driveway and be sure to tell everyone we know that L&D did NOT stand behind their work and does NOT respond to customers.

This company did an excellent job. The crew knew what to do and how to do it. They were here at the appointed time and worked in a timely fashion. I would highly recommend them and the drive looks great.

There was a scheduling conflict. However, their services were great and they were efficient. The drive turned beautiful.
