Great! We were notified by The City of Columbus that our water service line failed a pressure test and was leaking. We had 14 days to fix it or have the water turned off. (standard procedure for Columbus). A neighbor had a similar problem and hired Mike Kapp to so their work. They were pleased with his estimate and the work that he did, so we called him. Mike was very helpful and came out right away to give us an estimate, which we accepted and then set a date for the line to be installed. On the work day, Mike and an assistant arrived early and did a great job of changing our the supply line while doing very minimal digging in our front yard. The work was done well, and the city inspector had already been scheduled by Mike. The work passed inspection and the one hole needed was filled and packed by 5 pm. Mike even made a quick evening return to check the new line where it attached to the water meter to be sure that it was not leaking. I was very impressed with the work on the entire project.

He did an excellent job. He and his helper were here and got everything wrapped up in just a day. He was able to pull the copper tubing through rather than excavating. They cleaned up after themselves and didn't smoke.

Great! Water seeping in at the bottom of the basement concrete wall (unfinished, thank goodness) near the service line wasn't from a leaky valve, but from a broken 30-year old plastic pipe. In fact, when the room was silent, I could actually hear it! Options were: (1) dig down around the house and replace the leaking section of the pipe, or (2) for a thousand dollars more, dig out at the curb and replace the entire plastic pipe with a copper line **run from inside the house** out to the curb! A thousand bucks is a lot of money, but given the ornamental horticulture my wife planted near the house and the age of the plastic pipe, it took my wife and me about five seconds to decide. Mike and his co-worker showed up promptly at 8am, peeled back the sod near the curb, and started digging. Within a few hours, they had run the copper line from in the basement to the curb and attached it to both the city water line and the house plumbing. After inspection, it took another two hours to fill in the hole and replace the sod. Yet that afternoon when my wife returned home from school, she said she was disappointed that the 'water guys' didn't show up -- that's what a good job they did cleaning up before they left! Good guys doing good work for a fair price ... doesn't get any better.

Mike and his assistant arrived on time, excavated our water line and performed the repairs for half of what the next company's estimate was. They were friendly and professional, and gave us a great deal despite finding a second leak in the line. They made a very stressful event much more bearable.

Mike was extremely helpful during a rather stressful situation with my water line and the city of Columbus. My water was shut off due to a non-visable leak at the connection street. It was not a visible leak on the surface but the city detected it during routine inspection, I was told.
Unfortunately the 21 day notice from the city was never received by me. (They claim it was left on my door, but I never found it anywhere and it's likely it blew off the day they left it.) Obviously when the city shuts off your water and tells you it's because you have a leak that no one can see, but they say is there, it becomes rather frustrating.
I was referred to Mike by a plumber and he showed up that night had showed me how to backfeed my water supply through the neighbor's house. He said he would return in a week to dig up the line and make repairs.
He quoted me $1100 if the leak was confined to the area around the connection to the city's supply by the driveway. That's what it turned out to be. He dug it up and did a good job replacing the dirt in the hole.
I was not present while he made the repair (he actually showed up a day earlier than he told me he would). I assume everything was performed to standards. He took care of the permit and the inspection with the city. He was also very helpful on the night of the shut-off in going through the house and making sure everything was working properly during the temporary fix.
The price might have been a little high for the work, but he was the only excavator who even returned my call and I have no doubt he's the only one who would have responded the way he did.

Did a very professional job. Owner, Mike Kapp, personally performed the work with 1 experienced assistant. Was careful digging up and replacing grass in front yard. Only needed to dig hole at water line shut off in front yard and then pulled new water line from inside basement to outside connection to avoid tearing up entire front yard. . Seemed very thorough in their work and knew what they were doing. All work was performed within 1 day.

In addition to an excellent job on the repair, they not only preserved the mulch and plants where they dug, but also put them back after the hole was filled in - this is something none of the other companies I got an estimate from were willing to do. It looked like the leak had never happened.

Extremely well considering the lousy weather in January. Could not do work at first due to extreme sub-zero temperatures. Was finally able to get to the job and work was completed & the City inspection done the same day. Very pleased with this contractor. All interior work at the water main professionally done. Backfill of outside trench very neat.

They were prompt for the appointment. They seemed to understand the problem better than anyone else. We knew that they were reputable in our building. They were eager to please. The manager was there the whole time and participating in the job. They were professional and the quality was great. They were careful in digging up the lawn and replacing the turf.

Water was pouring up out of the ground in a small fountain. Delco came out and turned off the water. Didn't know who to call to fix it and found out regular plumbers are not who you call for that. Checked under Excavators and found Mike. He was very nice and professional, came out right away. He couldn't do the work for a couple more days because it was illegal for him to go digging until the utilities were marked and it took that long before they'd come out.
He came out today, reallly knows his business. His business card says that's all he does is fix and replace outdoor water lines. He and his helper were on time, professional and pleasant.
Took a couple hours, his huge backhoe did the work much more efficiently than a couple friends and I had done, trying to dig up the leak ourselves with shovels. That was absolutely brutal work, digging 3 feet down in this freezing weather, dealing with slop and mud, making each shovel full weigh 3 times the normal.
He replaced the broken piece with copper so we'd never have another issue in that section. He said he always replaces lines with copper so it's permanent. Costs a bit more but there'll never be another problem. He's been doing this for nearly 40 yrs - 10 with someone else and the last 27 on his own.
His price was less than the price 2 regular plumbers were going to charge me, a LOT less than one of them. I'd absolutely call him again but I hope I never have to.

Mike was great! I called Mike and didn't get him around 6pm. A little later he returned the call. He advised me what may the issue and offered to stop by the next day at a time that was best for my schedule and not his. He assessed the situation and discussed options. He was trustworthy and honest. We talked about options, materials, what is required bu the city, and what he could do. We agreed to give him the job.
He showed up ready to work and went right to it. Mike dug out the area around the main, replaced the part that had disintegrated, showed me the part and then told me I had water again. He worked quickly and ensured the work was inspected by the city. Then backfilled the area and repaired the landscaping the best he could as it was maybe 10 degrees outside.
If I ever need such a repair again, I would call him first. His pricing was much better than 2 other people on the City's repair listing whose pricing was almost double and required (according to them) more work than was necessary. Mike knew his business and is extremely reputable.

Great experience, called him last minute and they fitted us into their schedule. Foundation (block layers) people expressed that it was on of the easiest footers to work in. Highly recommend.

They showed up in the AM as promised with a Backhoe, dug down three feet outside the house and fixed the city water line both outside and inside the house. There was minimal damage to the yard and they helped me replant my shrubbery. The job was done for the agreed upon price.

This all went as well as it could. Fortunately, the leak was a trickle, coming thru pinholes in the block. With scheduling and weather to deal with, it could not have happened quickly (from visit and diagnosis to scheduling in and work done). But Mike scheduled us in promptly, arrived when he said he would, called to confirm, did what he said he would do and for the amount he said it would be. He is friendly and open to questions--a quality I especially appreciate. He was attentive to tracking dirt into the house. I would not hesitate to call him in for something similar--but hope I don't have to!

Michael Kapp came to the house to confirm the broken pipe and provided an estimate on the same day. We selected Mike over two other contractors because of his positive reviews on Angie's List and the approach he explained to replacing the pipe. (The other contractors proposed a more disruptive approach)>
Mike called the utility marker service and got them to come out the next day.
Mike was delayed one day due to threat of heavy rain.
He and his team arrived the next day and completed the work within 5 hours.
No mud was tracked onto the driveway let alone in the house.
There was minimal amount of turf that had to be dug up.
