The first session was the most pleasant. She was helpful in organizing the closet and the front area of the house. The second visit was also okay. However, we were not satisfied with the third visit. We had done a lot of work in the kitchen/pantry area already, but she seemed dismissive of that. Our drawers were "junk drawers" to her that needed to be totally emptied; in reality, although they were somewhat disorganized, we do use most of the things in them. (Subsequently, after she left, we cleaned them out and reorganized them, and they are fine.) She also said that we needed to get rid of some of our utensils. We have three crockeries with utensils in them, and I guess she thought that was too many; however, we do a lot of cooking and need them all. The kitchen was kind of dirty the day she came; also, we haven't had the money to renovate the kitchen and it needs it. However, she made a comment that "even if this kitchen were cleaned, I wouldn't want to cook in it." Maybe she meant, because of the bad organization. But still, it seemed very rude. Overall, she seemed dismissive, curt, and judgmental. Maybe she was just having a bad day; if so, I wish she had just canceled so we wouldn't have had to deal with HER bad day (and pay her for it!).
Like I said, the first two sessions were better. However, even in the second visit, she got very judgmental about my laundry habits. We were trying to clean up and sort through clothes. By the end of the session, she was lecturing me on how often and what days to do laundry! Excuse me, I'm an adult, I don't need a mother.
One thing that was difficult was, she would only see us for a two-hour session. She is like an energizer bunny and keeps going energetically for two hours. I get tired long before then, so the second hour is less valuable to me. I would have preferred to just see her for an hour.
Overall, I'm giving her a C, not an F, because the first couple sessions were somewhat useful. We are still using some of the organization she set up then. The third session felt like paying someone to be rude to us, even if some of her suggestions were useful.
Another issue is, I need a lot of help with paper organization and filing (which I had told her before I hired her); she seems not to be very interested in or helpful in that area.
If someone really needs an organizer, I would recommend someone hire her for an hour or two at first, and not use her "10 hours for <less money>" deal. I am glad I didn't do that, but rather hired her by the hour instead.
Your experience may differ from mine. Perhaps I am a little over-sensitive, but people CAN be very depressed sometimes when they're dealing with these sorts of issues. Also, someone whose main advertising gambit is that they are NOT judgmental, and then is that judgmental about someone else's kitchen and laundry habits, is not really living up to their advance billing, in my humble opinion.
