All the work was performed professionally. I did not have to "sweat the details" because my lead carpenter made sure everything was done in a way such that he would want to live there himself. He saved me money when the windows in the plan turned out to be  a custom size and if I could accept and a very small difference, I could use standard windows for large savings. They were at my house for 9 months, and each and every day the work site was picked up and swept. Once they started work, they were here everyday until completion. There were no delays whatsoever.
I have used JS Brown for much smaller jobs: a shower replacement and a couple of windows. I hire them knowing that I don't have to worry about shoddy work or undesirable people at my home.
My "new room" is now 14 years old and looks like new. We are extremely pleased with JS Brown, would use them again, and would recommend them to anyone.

We recently had a portion of our basement converted into a home gym. From beginning to end, we had a completely wonderful experience with J.S. Brown and their staff of craftsmen. They actually went above and beyond in keeping to schedule and even took care of an unrelated problem that we discovered during our project. We appreciated the respect that was shown for our home; there was very little interruption to our day-to-day living during our project and, at the end of each day, they cleaned up from that day's work. The project manager made himself available at all times and constantly kept us abreast of the project's progress. We also got periodic calls from the owner to ensure all of our expectations were being met. Our project ended on-time and on-budget. The room is gorgeous; it exceeded our expectations. Overall, we feel that our money was well spent on this project and I would definitely recommend J.S. Brown's services to family and friends.
Well done J.S. Brown!

The removed kitchens cabinets, built deadman walls, rebuilt supporting structure, drywall work, reinstalled kitchen cabinets.  The removed windows, built deadman wall, repaired structure, replaced large window.  Found water leak, tore out drywall, repaired water leak, repaired drywall. J.S. Brown team was trustworthy, professional, and performed excellent work. I would use them again and refer them to anybody.

I contacted J.S. Brown through their website. Jeff Brown, the owner contacted me within a day or two to set up an appointment. He arrived as scheduled to discuss the project. He gave me a ballpark figure at that time as to the cost. I have to admit I thought it was high but I decided to hire them to do the drawings to see what they would come up with. About a month later I went to their office to review the new design. After discussing some options they came up with a design I loved. The selection process of cabinets, counters, tile, etc. was very streamlined and uncomplicated. Stefanie helped me make my selections,  I felt confident that working with her the results would be beautiful. The building process started around five months after my first contact with J.S. Brown. The construction crew couldn't have been more professional,  the quality of work is very impressive no shortcuts here, pure craftsmanship. Chris, the project supervisor kept on top of every detail. They send you a schedule of what is going to be done on your project week by week. For the most part they stick to the schedule, my project had delays due to the local inspectors not showing up as scheduled, but J.S. Brown did their best to work around these delays and still progress with the work. The finished project is absolutely beautiful, I couldn't be more pleased. After I saw how much work was involved with this remodel the price seemed to be reasonable and I am so happy that I had J.S. Brown do the job.

I worked with JS Brown, and received estimates from a couple other companies, to do flooring and roof repairs to my front porch and enclose it with new windows to basically turn it into a three-season room.  I had seen some remodeling work that JS Brown has done on remodeling tours, and was impressed.  We signed a contract on 7/22/13, with work set to begin the week of 9/1/13 and scheduled to be complete the week of 9/23/13.  I paid a 10% deposit at the time of signing the contract.  According to the contract, when JS Brown was finished with repairs & construction, I was to do the final painting and necessary painting prep work.  Also, some large rose bushes needed to be removed, potted & replanted to provide outside porch access for the contractor.
By about the third week of August, I had not yet heard anything about the exact start date.  I attempted to get some answers on this, after repeated e-mails and calls, finally was told that the start of work would be delayed until the week of 9/16/13.  I pointed out that this was not what the contract stipulated, but this did not seem to matter.  When they did show up on 9/16/13, they began demolition and discovered that the original porch foundation needed to be redone.  We completed a change order to accomplish that.  Work began anew on 9/26/13 and continued pretty steadily until the contractor was finished on 10/28/13.   There were a few delays due to inspections, subcontractor scheduling, etc., but I have received many compliments on the finished product and I am pleased with the end result.  The materials and work quality seems to be excellent.

Horrible, several days before our job started the company layer off 9 guys.  Needless to say the remainder were p***** off.  That is all they talked about.  The designer did not measure several areas incorrectly which caused delays and more expense to us.  The project took nearly 6 months to complete and we had a lot of concessions we needed to make to get it finished.  We held back $5000 on the final payment until the punch list was completed.  JS Brown said they would come to finish the project and complete the punch list but we needed to pay them first or they would sue us.  We felt bullied and disgusted.  They did eventually come back and fix everything but it left a bad taste in our mouths.  I will never use them for any remodel job.

J S Brown & Co in Coumbus I used but it was like two years ago.  We spent $11,000. I liked their reputation.  I liked that they did a good job cleaning up, they were neat.  They came when they said they were come, they were prompt.  I did have a couple problems with them.  We had a hard time, we never did get totally straightened out.  The drywall is not quite right.  There is some flaws in the drywall, one of the edges is pretty rounded it's not squared off in the corner.  I also had the project supervisor made a mistake on the shower installation.  He didn't measure properly for the cultured granite slab that they installed and he had to actually re+-do the shower plumbing because he mis-measured like an inch.  He had to lower the shower head by an inch because he didn't want to pay for a new slab of cultured granite that they put in there because he mis-drilled it.  He already broke one.  The way they are set up that came out of his budge and he didn't want to, or his pay, so he didn't want to pay for a second one so he totally re-plumbed the shower to fit the hole that he drilled for the shower head which was an inch off.  The project manger his name was Todd, he also called in sick a couple of days, seemed like he might have had let's just say a pension for staying out late, it seemed like it was always on Monday.  I think he only did it a couple of times, but it was always on Monday and he was a little disorganized.  Niece enough guy but disorganized.  And one of their subcontractors that they used for the plumbing, on the toilet he didn't put the caps on over the screws and he installed the shower base and it wasn't level so they had to tear it out and install it again because it wasn't level, I had some problems in that regard.  I actually told  them no to use that plumbing contractor.  I asked them and insisted that we use Jack Woods that was my plumber and they were much better.  Eventually it all got done, for the most part to our satisfaction.  For the money I was expecting "A" work.  Sheetrock wasn't bad it wasn't quite what I wanted.  The tile guy was great.  There was some other issues, they didn't tile all the way back to the wall underneath the vanity because they said who is going to see it under there?  I said I'll know it's there, why not.  Well the tile is not level and so it will be hard to get the vanity level, because the tie had texture.  But they had to shim it in the back because obviously the front part was hitting on tile but the back part was on the sub-floor and they shimmed it to level it off.  So I don't really see why you couldn't put two more rows of tile to get the tile all the way to the wall and set the vanity on that and shim it accordingly sitting on the tile.  They said that's the way it's done, nobody does that, and if that's true that's an asinine way to do construction.  Seems crazy you would stop the tile two feet from the wall even thought the vanity would cover it.  That's not the point.  It would have been less than $10 worth of tile and grout to do it all the way back an probably another fifteen minutes of work to do two more rows.  Didn't make any sense to me.  But I would use the again.  I will say that.  I probably talk to Jeff Brown and have him come in and look at it and say you know what you are going to spend this amount on the other bathroom.  It actually started it and I stopped the work on.  Because I had lost my job and we just had to stop it.  So we actually have a bathroom that is completely remodeled and has a tub and shower roughed in, that's on hold until we can pinch back.  $8000 or so to finish the job.  It look s nice, but for $11,000 it's not a big mast bath, $11,000 I expected "A" work, maybe my expectations weren't realistic.  There were issues, some of them were made right, some of them couldn't be fixed without incurring a lot of expenses.  You were some twisted things in the wall and things like that. Unless you tear the wall out, there is nothing you can do.  They did the best job they could.  And they are high end remodeler our builder built a lot of homes, they weren't custom homes.  So, they are probably a little higher end than anybody else would have in our neighborhood, but we wanted a really high quality job.  By enlarge I'd consider them again, I certainly would.  I might look at one or two other contractors but there is a good chance I would use them again.  I would pay less.  I don't want this to happen again.  This I didn't like and this I didn't like and let's make sure this doesn't happen with this next bathroom.

.We went from, "Ugh, the kitchen" to "Love the kitchen." Monica knows what she's doing and has lots of ideas, but she also did a good job of listening to us, and getting a feeling for what we like. She helped Sue with all of the millions of decisions, without taking over. And she found ways to keep the project within our budget without compromising the important features. We never felt pressure to buy anything that didn't work for us. The new layout works a lot better than the old one, and the cabinets and pullouts have been just what we wanted. The improved lighting is beautiful. It's amazing how much more pleasant the kitchen is now than it used to be.
Josh is an expert builder, well organized and efficient, but also friendly and helpful. He found ways to keep the old sink in place and working through most of the project, which was a big help with just living in the house while the work was in progress. The workmanship was excellent, and there was no collateral damage to the surrounding areas of the house. It's been eight months since the project was done, and we've had no complaints about anything. That contrasts with several people we know who renovated their kitchens around the same time, with other contractors. They have no trouble rattling off a list of problems and things the contractor had to come back and fix.
Both Monica and Josh communicated with us often, and we knew what was going on and what was coming, all the way through the project. There was only one miscommunication, over a minor point, and they handled it quickly and professionally. They also collaborated on a custom feature that's one of our favorite things. We had a way-too-small pantry that was a constant source of irritation. We also have a piece of art glass we had never found a good way to display. Monica had the idea to turn the top half of the pantry into a display case for the art glass, and Josh worked out a way to build it. We are delighted with the result.
The price for all this was substantial, and we had to give up some nice ideas to stay within budget. You get what you pay for. We got a kitchen we love, and the project was really done when it was done.
We recommend J S Brown enthusiastically to anyone who asks about our remodeling.

Overall I think the owner, Jeff Brown, is very good to work with. He takes a personal interest in your projects. They also act as "problem solvers" for things that inevitably come up in a remodel and guarantee their work for the long term.

They gave me a map of their times when they were coming.  They always sent the same 4 people and a project manager was assigned.  They cleaned up after themselves and could be trusted to be in the house.  They gave a time table for when things would be completed and really stayed on task. The communications between me and them and the workers was excellent.

The initial design part went fine.  However, when we asked for specific price breakdown of the cabinets, we never got it.  When we decided that the plan was too expensive and changed it to try to save money, we didn't get any suggestions from Monica of ways to save money.  Again when we asked for the total price of the cabinets, she still didn't give it to us.

I think the company does good work and treats its employees well, which was one reason we went to them.  If all you want is a total price, then they will be fine for you.  However, we wanted more specific information so we could decide if we needed to use a less expensive cabinet.

The experience was great, the price was fixed and pre-determined.  There was no guess work as to what was going to be done and how it was going to be done.  Communication was clear, areas that could be damaged from debris removal and construction were prepared to avoid collateral damage, the workers were knowledgable and operated to code, and there were few hiccups.

They are home design contractors. They are very well known. The plans were for a significant addition to my home. They were reasonably priced; the plans cost me $3000. It was an extremely professional experience. However, it took a little while to get the plans back from them after I had sent them for iteration. The designs are good; they are not everything I was hoping for. Maybe, it is because my expectations are high. The actual pricing for the remodeling work was more than what I had anticipated. So, I did not go through with the service. However, the design process was well done. By looking at all the elements of the designs, I am certain that they do high quality work. I will use them again in the future if required. I will definitely recommend them to others.

They were excellent. They were very efficient with their work. They communicated about what they were going to do. They did what they said they were going to do. We used them because they had redone a bathroom for us before so they were people that we had experience with. They did a good job. It wasn’t their price that made the bathroom so expensive, it was our choices. The TV in the wall, the medicine cabinets and the custom-cut marble were expensive but there was nothing wrong with what they charged. They have a lady that troubleshoots for them and you can call her any time and she’ll show up and discuss what is going on or what is next in the project.
