Rick from Joe Gioffre Electric was totally awesome. He has a unique business model that will save you money - Rick is the owner/operator who is a licensed and insured electrician while his wife answers all calls, schedules work, and sends emaiil quotes. Rick is super knowledgable and super nice. Don't let the high cost of my job scare you away. I felt I got a real bargain since another (but much larger) company wanted way more $$$. Rick did a lot of work and was at my house six full days. Some more fun facts about Jioffre Electric - Rick works very efficiently and rapidly and is a really hard worker - I lost count how many times he climed up and down my attic to run wire and in the frigid cold to run and route wire. Also I really appreciated great communications. He answered all questions via. email and always either called or texted each time he was on his way. As the sole owner of his company he tries hard to please every customer.

Fantastic. He came the day after I called, was prompt, polite, explained things well, and charged me the bare minimum. This is exactly the kind of experienced, local, small-business tradesman that we all need to support. I cannot recommend him more highly!

Here's where it got strange. i thought I was dealing with Joe Gioffre Electric Co but instead it appears they sub-contracted with a company called My Electric Works .... when I asked if he was sub-contracted and why not Gioffre he was unable to answer so he made a preliminary diagnosis then said it would could $470 dollars to replace one GFI outlet and remove 3 GFI's on the same circuit and install normal outlets which I thought was way too much so i paid the estimate fee and will hire someone to replace the outlets at a price I can live with. Three points: Why did Angie's List not note that this company uses subcontractors and not their own employees, why does the phone number 614-689-3489 that Angie's List provides connect one to a number that rings and rings and then goes to a busy signal and finally why wouldn't a reputable company provide an hourly rate so customers have a better idea of what to expect? Not a good Angie's List experience; not a good Joe Gioffre Electric experience. The young electrician who works for My Electric Works was competent but I would not have ordered an estimate had I know it would be a sub-contractor and not the company reviewed by Angie's List who would show up.
