In replacing the wax ring in an upstairs toilet he discovered and leak and damage to the wood around it. They stopped the leak temporarily and put the toilet back together and said they could come out again to repair the damage and permanently fix the leak.
We were very happy with the service.
The garbage disposal was rusted and had a bit of leakage on the underside.
Ando came over several times to take care of the problems.
He inspected my house water and electrical systems to advise me on what needed to be fixed/changed. He is very knowledgable about home repair and gave me advice on how plumbing and electrical things worked. On one of his visits, he had help from Ryan, who installed the three timer switches to replace older ones that had become unpredictable while Ando installed the new sump pump.
Reasonable pricing for the time and effort spent on the repairs. Older houses and fixtures present their own set of problems with rust and corrosion, and Ando was able to handle them quite well.
Ando does very neat work. He also tidied up the work areas afterwards very well.
I really cannot say enough good things about Mr. Johnson. He is the consummate professional and really is an exemplar in the trade skills. He possesses every attribute you could want in a handyman. He is professional, courteous, responsive, smart, and highly knowledgeable across virtually every home repair-related area. The quality of his work is exceptional. He is something of a perfectionist, yet his prices are extremely reasonable. He makes sure the work is done right and will not stop until it is done correctly. He knows what needs to be done according to and quot;codeand quot; (often going beyond code if it's a better long-term fix) and has corrected numerous mistakes or sub-par work done by previous contractors.
He seemingly can do just about any kind of repair from the smallest fix to major remodels. But he is also very careful to tell you when he feels something is outside of his expertise and will tell you what type of contractor you need for specialized work. For example, he diagnosed the problem with a leaky skylight and made some changes to the flashing as a temporary fix. He is not a roofer, though, so he told us that we needed a roofer for a more permanent fix.
Because he does very high-quality work at such reasonable cost, I believe he is in high demand, as it can sometimes be difficult to get onto his schedule. I say that as a compliment to his work and the demand for him--not as a complaint. He is always very responsive to my calls. I just have to be realistic as to how much time he has available given the high demand for his services. Waiting for him to be available is definitely worth it, and we plan our bigger projects accordingly. We don't mind waiting on projects until he can work it into his schedule.
When there is something urgent, however, he will always make time for you. On at least a couple of occasions, we have called him about an issue that he thought was urgent enough that he came on his day off or after a full day at another job site just to take care of the issue. For small, quick and easy fixes, too, he does everything he can to work it into his schedule as quickly as possible. We just try to plan ahead with him for the larger, more time-consuming projects.
For any project within his purview, he is the only person we want to do it. I cannot recommend Ando Johnson (Hometown Handyman) more highly.
1 hour later Ando called me back. We agreed to do it after he finished the job he was on. He came out to the house a couple of hours later as agreed, and took care of the install. He was polite, professional, and did a great job. He kept everything clean, dry, and neat. He seemed very knowledgeable, and gave some advice on the faucet maintenance and potential issues with that model.
Everything has been working great since he left. No complaints, and I'd use Ando again for other jobs.
