properties in the Grove City area and he used to be my contractor for
many things.
This summer, however, everything changed. Curtis
promised me a lot of work that never got done (I was on vacation). He
had 6 weeks to complete very easy tasks. He waited until the last week
to fix *some* things (and those things were not done correctly).
When my tenants moved in, hardly anything had been fixed. When I confronted Curtis about this, he actually became mad at ME.
When
I got the bill, I was floored. $5500. He did NOT do that much work.
But...I thought he would finish more stuff...and I paid the bill.
No, he really thought he was done. The faucet he installed didn't work. It leaked, caused damage and he hasn't even offered to come fix it. The part that was the last straw was when I specifically asked him to check and replace all fire alarms in the house. This is a CODE violation to put tenants in a house without proper working fire alarms. He PROMISED me this was done. When I arrived back in town, I was shocked to find that so many things weren't done.
When I had to call someone else (on top of the $5500 I had already paid Curtis), they found that the fire alarms had no batteries in them. At that point, I realized that he was putting my tenant's safety on the line, my company and reputation on the line and I could not deal with him again.
Because of all the headache, bad work, and charging me for things he didn't do, I requested $1000 back. Haven't seen that yet.
