TV Sales
Sales person was extremely high pressure. When we told him we just wanted to determine a size and then was going to check Consumer Reports to see what they would recommend in that size, he said consumer reports was not a good way to select a TV as companies paid them to get better ratings. Since I knew this was not true, I became leary of his sales tactics. Without even buying a TV he kept pushing buying an extended warranty and telling us we would be making a hugh mistake if we did not. At this point his sales tactics became so high pressure that we told him we needed to use the restroom and headed in that direction. When his back was turned we rushed out the front door. This is the first time I had been to HH Greg in about 10 years. A similar experience has kept me from going there. Based on my visit today I would say they have not changed.

The refrigerator wasn?t plugged in at the store and so we couldn?t actually test it on the floor - we just took a chance on the name. The first delivery was horrible - they were really rude on delivery. I asked for someone else to deliver it and so they did. They refunded me $100 for delivery because they were so rude. They had also scratched it. The sales personnel were professional but the delivery personnel weren?t. They were pretty responsive. According to the Department of Energy, the refrigerator doesn?t match the energy star rating that it got, and so they have to come and put on another piece of equipment on my refrigerator to make it more energy efficient. They are giving me a $46 check, and $4 a year for the next 12 years.

I bought a refrigerator, an oven, a microwave and a dishwasher from them. They are specialized in appliances. They did not give me a package deal, but I was able to sign up for a credit card that had zero percent interest on it. They had commission on certain types of items. They had certain items with no interest for 2 years and few others with no interest for 1 year. They also delivered the appliances to my house. H. H. Gregg gets paid on commission, so there is a little bit of sales tactic there. The salesman who was working with me was helpful. The dish washer I ended up buying wasn?t my favorite dish washer as it was not of high quality. It does not clean the dishes all that well. The reason why I bought the dish washer was because it had the control panel on the top which was hidden. I think it was the low end version. I probably didn?t buy the best one I possible could. If I had done more research or if they had known a little more about the dish washer then it would have been of great help. It is not a horrible dish washer but may be not as good as some others which I had used. I did not have a whole lot of communication with them, but they called up to let me know that they would be delivering the items. They were punctual as they came on time. They could have been more knowledgeable about the items they were selling. They were a little over enthusiastic just to make the sale. But overall they did a good job. Their price was good and better than other places.

The wine refrigerator came in with a latch that didn't work properly. The company could not fix it because it was special order. The only solution they gave me was to send it back and I would get another in 6-8 weeks. This wouldn't work at all with my kitchen remodel, so I chose to get it fixed elsewhere. The trim kit ended up not fitting my space. They said they could not return it because it was special order, so I ended up taking the loss on this. I asked if they could resell it and they wouldn't do this either even though this is an item they display in the store. Fine Lines sells high end appliances, but doesn't provide high end customer service .... it is more "Buyer Beware". You may get good prices from this store, but there is no attempt at pleasing the customer. I would recommend a company such as Ferguson or the Jae Company which are more focused on customer satisfaction in combination with high quality products.

THE SALESMAN WAS LOW KEY AND I DID NOT FEEL ANY PRESSURE TO BUY THE ITEMS, OR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY--SOMETHING I RARELY DO. IN THE END HE GAVE IT ONE LAST PITCH AND I DID GET THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY AS IT IS TRANSFERABLE AND LONGER THAN MOST. WE DELAYED DELIVERY UNTIL I HAD THE GAS LINE EXTENDED AND READY FOR HOOKUP. ALSO, THERE WERE REBATES AVAILABLE FOR THE DELIVERY FEE. THE MEN WHO CAME TODAY WERE PROMPT, CALLED AHEAD AS PROMISED, AND GOT EVERYTHING INSTALLED WITHOUT INCIDENT. NOTE**DELIVERY GUYS---DO NOT ASK TO USE CLIENT'S BATHROOMS AS YOU ARE THERE TO DO A JOB, NOT USE THEIR PRIVATE SPACES. IT MAKES PEOPLE UNCOMFORTABLE AND SERVICE PEOPLE ASK ME THIS ALL THE TIME.

HH Gregg was not the least expensive source for the appliances, but the builder had established an account with them, so we worked with them. The information provided was not timely and accurate and was presented in a confusing manner. HH Gregg lost our trust after we found several errors (e.g., cost of installation) in their estimates and confusing information that we had to ask to be clarified. HH Gregg did correct the errors and respond to our questions, but we did not appreciate having to exercise quality control for the work. An example of the confusion is the refrigerator. We ended up with a standard depth model when we should have been provided a counter depth model. HH Gregg refused to exchange the refrigerator without additional cost to us, so we decided to keep the model they originally provided.

Very well. I arrived on the last day of a sale late in the day. The sales representative was helpful and answered my questions, both about the particular model dishwasher we purchased and about dishwashers in general. When I realized I did not have my credit card with me, he allowed me to use their telephone to call home and verify the numbers with my spouse. About a month before this purchase we purchased a television from the company also.

Overall, excellent experience. I've been purchasing from H H Gregg since they arrived in Columbus several years ago and they tend to have a better variety than comparable big box stores. Prices, especially on clearance or returned, almost new merchandise is usually better than most other stores. Keep in mind that unlike Best Buy or Circuit City these reps work on a commission, and on most items under $500 their commission on a warranty sale is often higher than on the sale itself. They will work to create doubt and lack of manufacturer support after the initial sale. On some items it's a plus, on others it's not worth it.

They did a great job except they scraped the door sill slightly on the way in, but that wasn't that big of a deal. All in all they do a good job.

THIS SWEEPER BLEW OUT ALL OF THE ELECTRICITY IN MY CONDO. EUREKA SAYS THAT THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VACUUM AT ALL DOING THIS. THEY TOOK BACK THE VACUUM. THE REFRIGERATOR HAS HAD EIGHT SERVICE CALLS, AND STILL IS NOT FIXED. I HAVE NOT HAD AN APPLIANCE WORK FROM HH GREGG. THE SERVICE WAS GOOD BUT THE REFRIGERATOR SHOULD LAST FOR MORE THAN A YEAR.
