Great. They did a fine job. They can be a bit pricey however. You get what you pay for, remember

Justin came out in August to look at the job and give me an estimate. He warned me that it would be a while because they had a large backlog of work. I was ok with that. Once we agreed on a design for the ornamental roof supports, my order got in line to have everything fabricated. That took until November and then I got in the line for installation. The work was finally done the first week of December. The workmen were prompt, polite, and did a great job of cleaning up. I am very happy with how my new railings look.

They made a couple metal shelves for me using the specs I provided. It wasn't a large project, but they treated it as if it was just as important. They were items that were shipped promptly. Accepting Paypal payments made it even more convenient.

It went well. We chose from several 'pre-made' options based on the number of steps and on the location. The installation was done professionally and timely.

The original power coat paint and the paint they later sprayed on the railings is peeling and rusting. The supplier had a faulty batch and I feel it should be replaced not sprayed over.

We were creating a bar area in our home and needed a cart of specific dimensions to fit into a space next to a cabinet. The cart was built to hold granite tops on the shelves. We visited Fortin's and spoke to a designer who fashioned a cart to the dimensions required to fit the available space.

Because of the season (summer) the ironworks shop was very busy and it took a few weeks to complete the project. However, the work is exceptional. The craftsmanship is outstanding. The design was simple and clean, just as we wanted. While this project was not very complicated, there are products on display that illustrate what creative talent is available from them. For exceptional craftsmanship combined with creative design you cannot find a better place.

If you are in a hurry for their custom work plan your project during and quot;off seasonand quot; because the secret is out about Fortin's!

I had gotten an estimate almost 2 years ago but never pursued it till now. They honored the old price quote and completed the job ahead of schedule. One of the grates was very large and we had agreed to make it our of 2 pieces so that they could be moved should that be necessary. Unfortunately, with the passage of time they had forgotten that it was to be constructed as 2 smaller grates instead of one very large grate. I pointed this out and they apologized for not recalling (after almost 2 years who could blame them), came out and removed the one large grate and refabricated it into 2 parts with a support bracket in the middle, and re installed it. I was very satisfied with the work and they never pushed back on the fact that they had to redo the work. Very professional. I would use them again. Thanks!

They did a great job and you can barely tell where the weld is. They have also repaired some metal chairs where I work, and they have always done a fine job for a reasonable price.

My wife and I went to Fortin as a local provider who had positive reviews from friends along with Angie's List. We knew that we weren't going to get the best price, but we were ok with as the service and responsiveness from local companies tends to be better than national chains. It also feels great to support our friends and neighbors.
Unfortunately, this was a wrong decision on our part. We purchased the furniture in May and didn't get the final pieces until almost 4 months later (We had several deliveries of a piece or two). The communication was extremely poor and set all the wrong expectations. From day one we were told that as the pieces came in they would be delivered, but I had to call on a weekly basis and remind them of this. Every time I called they asked what I did receive and what I was missing. The final straw was when they delivered all the cushions/pillows in cardboard boxes in pouring rain, but didn't tell us they were out there. When we went to unload them they were covered in wet cardboard and our patio was a mess. Very frustrating when you spend $13,000 on patio furniture.
The reason for the delay was the manufacturer and their warehouses. Not once did Fortin suggest how they would fix the problem other than to blame them on delays. I do business differently - when I represent a brand I am in fact that brand. I would follow up and if something that was supposed to take 6 weeks to deliver took 14 weeks, I would demand a discount for my client. Or at the very least demand a time frame when it was going to get done. Every week Bob/Janet just said it's not their fault.
Sadly, this was a complete disappointment. The summer is ended and we never did get to enjoy our full patio set before school started for the kids. I paid the extra money and went with Fortin to make it easy and to support our community - instead it made it much more difficult. The quality of their furniture is superb, but I would highly suggest using Frontgate or even Relish in Grandview to get better customer service and pricing.

Called about having railings installed. They asked if I could email in pictures to expedite process. I did so and within 24 hours Josh contacted me to set up an appointment for an estimate. I selected the railings we wanted and Josh said it would take 2-3 weeks. Within 2 weeks he called with the railing were ready. Josh and another fellow came out as agreed on Sat morning and installed the railings in an hour. We are very pleased with the finished product.

Gave an estimate, told me it would be ready within the week. They called the next day. It was ready for pick-up. They even painted the newly welded joints. Did a great job and a lot cheaper than replacing 4 wrought iron chairs and a table. ;o)

They were great to work with. Made the task of selecting/purchasing easy (especially for someone who hates to decorate). Service was great and they completed the job quickly. Highly recommend.

Fortin Welding and Ironworks Inc. in Columbus, Ohio. He is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. I've used them on two separate occasions, the later was November of 2012. It cost $14,000. German Village Commission, you can't go to Lowes and get your fencing got to get it from Fortin Iron Works. But they knew all of the ins and outs, they work almost exclusively in this neighborhood. The whole neighborhood is on medium, it's historic places. So everything has to go through the German Village Commission. You can't get a mailbox on your house with out it. I'm not making this up. You have to go and sit in front of this commission with all your stuff and they make decisions and tell you no. It's something I didn't know. I didn't know when we bought the house three years ago, had I known I probably would have made a different choice. Fortin Iron Works is a class act, completely entirely. I liked the quality of the craftsmanship. There is nobody that does the wrought iron design and execution the way that they do. They are above and beyond anyone I have every worked with. They were just A plus. They really know their business. They have been into this like 130 years or so. Which is what make them the choice of the German Village to do the work in the neighborhood. But again, everything, the look and feel of the fence. They helped me every step of the way. It was a blessing. It cost a lot of money it was a blessing, it's beautiful. In the back of the house where I thought we were going to put the fence in the back, they gave me an alternative plan they acutally put it along the edge of the patio that saved me $9,000 on the back fences. Their suggestion saved me $9,000. They didn't want to be digging holes in the landscaping, they're not landscapers, but the way that they suggested I do it was to actually drill holes into the edge of the patio and actually seat it on the edge of the patio and that is exactly what I did in the back and it saved me a huge amount of money and it was exactly what I needed.
