Another company came out and quickly indicated that I needed and expensive process (aero seal) after a moment of looking at the ductwork. I called energy tech insulation. I’m glad I did! Stephanie was very informative and professional and scheduled a time for the owner to come out and look at the audit and the problem. The owner came out to our home and carefully looked over the ductwork and showed me where there were problem areas in the sealing as well as the joints. Based on his assessment he described what he would do and his recommendations made sense to me. His recommendation was thousands of dollars less than the other company! We made an appointment for him to do the repair. Cory came right on time and took a look at the ductwork and showed me what he would do. He was conscientious, knowledgeable, and personable. He did excellent work. He said that the system would likely distribute heat much better and work more officiant way after he was done. There are two end rooms in our home that consistently run 7° hotter or colder (depending on the season) than the thermostat setting. I just accepted that it is an older home and these rooms are farthest away from the furnace. For the first time these rooms are within 1° of the thermostat. The system does appear to operate more officiant way. There are not cold spots in the bathroom. There is not a musty smell after a rain. I’m hoping that there will be some cost savings on my utility bills, but even if there’s not the increased comfort is worth the price of the repair. I would highly recommend energy tech insulation and would plan to call them in the future without hesitation. The overall experience from first phone call to cleaning up after the repair was outstanding. A gold standard in my book.

Went through Columbia Gas's energy audit and rebate program. Still waiting on the final rebate, but up front cost was $2700 for the entire house to be insulated with cellulose, approx 2700sqft Basement air sealing, walls, and the eaves/addition ceiling. Very friendly and professional. We had one mishap- I forgot to tell them about the hole to access the pipes underneath the sink so insulation came out through the cabinets. They were very prop in cleaning that up and sealing off the hole. After that they vacuumed up all the loose cellulose and dirt tracked in from the rest of the job. Very very please with them. The house already feels more comfortable and it unexpectedly had a significant sound reduction from the nearby road. I can't wait to see how we fair through this summer and winter. I would absolutely hire them again and recommend them to others. Make sure you go through Columbia Gas's program (Energy Tech even files the rebate papers for you!) I'm expecting after the rebate to have only paid about 2k out of pocket.

The team showed up on time, and insulated/air-sealed throughout the day. I was busy that day, and was not able to fully inspect until after the work had been completed. Afterwards, I noticed several things: 1) Two can lights that were not insulation-contact rated had had foam insulation applied directly to them, and were buried in blown in insulation, creating a fire hazard. 2) Four holes had to be cut into the wall for the insulation to be blown in. There were significant pencil markings left around the holes that were not covered by the panels they installed to cover the holes. 3) In one of the access holes, a piece of drywall was broken off of the bottom of the access hole No attempt was made to repair this broken drywall; the access panel was simply installed flush with the baseboard, several inches down from the originally intended position, in an attempt to hide the error. We were not informed this had occurred. 4) On a different access hole, some drywall patching was done because the edge of the hole was damaged, but the resulting drywall patch was not even/flat. 5) A few of the spaces between joists that should have been air-sealed were skipped. 6) We were charged with the installation of fiberglass bats on the verticals of the kneewalls. Because there previously were no access panels, it had not been clear how much insulation, if any, was on the verticals of the kneewalls. Once the access panels were cut, it was clear that there were fiberglass bats already in place in those locations. The installers did not install additional insulation on the verticals, but we were still charged for insulating the verticals of the kneewalls despite no work being done for this line item. 7) One of the installers left several personal effects at our house. We raised these issues with Energy Tech, and they rescheduled a time to come back out and address the issues from the first time around. I was glad that they were willing to admit that they had made mistakes, and make an effort to correct them, but it was still frustrating that so many issues had occurred, and that the work was not done right the first time. When they came back out, they did their best to address most of the items listed above, except for the drywall issues which they did not address. Afterwards, I contacted them multiple times about the drywall, to no avail. I proposed a solution to the drywall issues that they rejected, and they did not offer any alternative solutions to the drywall issues despite repeated attempts on my part to get in contact with them.

I found them through Columbia Gas through an assistance program which I only paid 10% of charges. I did hire them separately for vent installation and their charges were reasonable. I found the owner to be very knowledge and his crew to be knowledgeable and respectful as well. They did a great cleanup job and were efficient. They monitored everything before and after the work and explained the techniques and technology they were going to use. Because I have environmental sensitivity I chose the cellulose. A roofer who repaired my roof for an unrelated issue told me that the vents they put in were badly installed. They came to inspect their work and I was satisfied with their installation and was very happy that they were willing to retar even though, I believe, that it was not necessary. They were very courteous and helpful. I would recommend this company.

Fantastic. I had previously talked with another insulation contractor, but after I spoke with the owner/estimator/consultant, Rich, I knew I wanted to work with Energy Tech. The crew was so nice, knowledgeable, and hard-working. They tried very hard to be tidy: covered furniture and floor, and used a shop vac to capture plaster dust as they drilled. It would be difficult for me to name anything they could have done better. I'm VERY pleased with the quality of their work, and delighted at the improvement in comfort of the house. We just had an extended cold spell, and I was so glad to have the attic and wall insulation. Great job guys, Thanks!

Originally expecting 2 1/2 days of work, they sent 2 teams and the work was finished in one day. We received credits from the audit program towards the cost of the work. We will also will receive rebates totaling ~$665 bringing our out of pocket costs to about $2300. It went well but time will tell of the benefits.

I contacted Energy Tech in April of 2015 for estimates for Insulation, and a new Furnace and Air Conditioner for my mom's house.
She had an energy audit through Columbia Gas and Energy Tech was on their certification list for providers.  The gentleman who came out to her house was extremely knowledgeable and explained all of the issues surrounding the company's estimates and recommendations for each item.  My mom was able to get some costs covered by a program administered through Columbia Gas, while other costs she would need to cover that weren't included with the program - such as venting a bathroom fan before insulation could be installed.  The estimates for the insulation were reasonable.  The estimates for the Furnace and Air Conditioning were considerably higher than another reputable company's that was not on the certification list even with the rebates that would be offered by Columbia Gas.  My mom did not elect to do the work right away because of the costs she would have to cover.  In November, Columbia Gas offered to cover some additional cost for insulation which would have left 200-300 for my mom to cover for ventilation.  In order to take advantage of this offer my mom needed to have the work completed by the end of the year.  Energy Tech was very responsive in arranging to come out on December 28th to do the work.  The two gentleman who came out to perform the work did a great job.  They were pleasant, professional, informational, and were conscientious about comfort of my mom and tidying up.  I was surprised that the process was as involved as it was for the insulation but it was clear that the these gentlemen knew what they were doing.  My mom is very pleased with the work and will definitely call them back for crawl space sealing when she is able to afford it.

Our first winter in our "new" old house in Worthington was miserable! The upstairs was freezing and the Den above the crawl space was un-usable.  After an Energy Audit through AEP, we got quotes from several insulation companies and decided to go with Energy Tech.  We could not have been more pleased.
Due to their busy schedule, the soonest they could start work was the week of Christmas!  Barb, in the scheduling office, was very understanding and helpful since we needed to work around the arrival of family members for holiday plans.  Also due to low temps, they were only able to complete part of the exterior job with the rest of it being scheduled in February.
The gentlemen who came to do the installation were wonderful, very friendly, and patient with having my children stalk their moves and stare as they worked.
They also did a great job of cleaning up as much as possible after blowing in the insulation.
We could tell a difference right away, especially upstairs and in the Den.  We were very, very happy with the service and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to improve the comfort of their home during the cold winter months.

Everyone from the kind lady on the phone (Barb), to the technicians who did the work (James and Trent), and the man who gave me the analysis and estimate (Rich) were what service people should be, They were professional in their communications and excelled at their work.  They went above and beyond what was expected.  The final good turn of their efforts was when they borrowed a staple gun from me and somehow it didn't work when they were finished with it.  They bought a new gun the next day and replaced my old one (Duane). Job well done!
