E & L Lawn Care

We strongly do not recommend this company. We regret we did not do more background research before hiring them. Jay, the owner, took the money and ran and left his workers to finish the job. We were told they would fix the problems we asked them to fix, but they left without fixing them. We contacted Jay immediately after the job and he said he would come back to fix the problems. He never called back or came back. We were left with a hatchet job on our hedges. After a month of many ignored phone calls and messages and a text message sent with photos, we have gotten no response and we are being completely ignored. We had to hire someone else to come and fix the mess they made of our hedges. In 22 years of us living here, E&L was the most expensive hedge trimming and the absolute worst job. Buyer beware. Jay, the owner is a sweet talker and plays on being a vet to get you to think he is honest and responsible, which clearly he is not. He is truly an embarrassment to all honorable veterans.

Because they did the estimate alone, we were not present, so there were some misunderstanding of what needed to be done. Wished they had rung the doorbell when they came. Over all, it went OK.

They did a good job adding topsoil, grading and seeding. Nice group to work with. Went above and beyond to ensure we were happy.

The crew came on time, were professional, cleaned as they worked, asked for my input, and made certain I was satisfied with the assignment. I would definitely hire them again and suggest them to others.

Very well. They went above & beyond what we agreed to. I contracted for 3 hours; my garden was a huge mess; they worked hard and kept working probably an hour beyond what we agreed to.

Fantastic !! I hired them, they came the next day. I asked about them leveling out a long hump in my yard that was the result of a sewage pipe installation. They started the next day and finished it the day after.

The very friendly and polite crew made sure I had input every step of the way and was satisfied with their performance. They cleaned up after themselves very well and went above and beyond. A professional group who I will hire again.

AMAZING!!!! I had a lawn emergency and even though they were booked solid- they fit me in AND did a fabulous job. My parents yard looks better than it ever has. I will definitely be hiring them again. I am extremely pleased and so grateful!!!

Justin and his team were extremely polite, efficient, and helpful! The crew showed up ahead of schedule and completed everything as promised. All crew members were professional and extremely courteous. Couldn't ask for a better group of guys. I was really impressed by the finished product. Hire this Veteran owned company and you will be satisfied!

I used E&L for the last 4 years to mow my 1.3 acre yard. At first I was very picky and complained a lot because I had always done my own mowing at previous homes. They would run over lights and things in my gardens and once even knocked over a paver wall that I had to then fix. They often mowed the grass when it is too wet. They mowed too fast so that the grass just lay down and didn't get cut and they missed big swaths of lawn. They left clippings on the lawn that I then had to blow off myself even though all they had to do was blow it into the woods on the back of my lot. They blew clippings into my gardens even after I asked them to not do that. So much so that I have grass growing in my gardens that is very hard to remove from between plants. This year, 2017, with a lot going on in my personal life, I chose my battles thinking I probably could not get someone to do my yard for less... Basically, I figured I was getting what I was paying for -- which was not a lot. And after agreeing to let them charge my credit card monthly in 2016, I didn't have as many interactions as they often did the work while I was at work. The last couple of months (Aug, Sep, Oct), we went 2-4 weeks where the grass was not cut at all... But I still got charged as if it had been cut 4 times per month! I have asked for the invoices and have not received anything yet though he promised me on the phone he would send. I have called them three times and texted several times since we spoke too and no response! I am not going to pursue a case or anything because... that is just not me. But I will call them out on it here and on Angie's List. Beware! (see photos for examples of how much grass clippings were left on top of the lawn and the huge rut they left in the muddy area they were supposed to go over with a weed wacker/avoid)

I got ripped off by Jay Edwards owner of E & L Lawncare. Was referred to him by another landscape company for a concrete job. He came out on a Sunday as promised and seemed like a wonderful family man. We talked about some other projects and I ended up agreeing on three projects in addition to the concrete work I needed. Jay knew what he was doing and the pricing was very fair. Jay did the paver work and I was very happy and paid him. Next he power washed the pool deck and asked for payment for whole power wash and sealer job from my wife and stated that he would quickly do the sealing job the next morning. When I learned my wife had paid him for both power washing and sealer I immediately called Jay to ask why he collected for both parts. Jay said he needed money to buy sealer and would be back in the am. Jay seemed so honest and I wanted him to succeed. Jay has responded to one email in the last three months. I have regularly called, texted, emailed and posted to his company website with no further response. Seemed like a great guy and his crew was made up of family. I got ripped off and never got my original concrete work done!!!!

They were great. I appreciated their responsiveness more than anything, especially of everyone I called.

They do a good job. The price is excellent. They are always on time.

E & Lawn Care and owner is very unprofessional. I have never seen a business ran in such a poor manner that their actions seems criminal and should be out of business. They have numerous complaints from customers and refuse to return calls or refund money for unsatisfactory work.

**Beware that they will take your money and run to the next customer. I would never recommend this business to anyone. Don't throw away your money. Get the best return on your investment and seek professional services elsewhere.**

They were hired in 2015 to do some work and it had to be redone by another contractor because it was done so badly.   E&L Lawn care owner (Justin Edwards) has compelled me to share the continuous unprofessional behavior of this business.

J with E & L Lawn Care was quick to respond to my request for an estimate. Price was fair. Work was scheduled promptly. Day of work, arrival was punctual. And workers were quick to start. I would use them again and, in fact, have scheduled them to do more work. Thank you J!

I've used this company for the past couple of years for lawn services and snow removal.  The snow removal service was excellent.  The lawn service started out great, but went down hill.  I started with a team of 3 and the mowing was neat and very professionally done.  At some point, during the first year, the team was switched to a single guy.  That guy used a weed whacker instead of a mower on my grass.  Grass was uneven.  Never, edged and trimmed (which was included in my price with every mow).  I would complain, the trimming started, but the tall weeds were left on the lawn.  Grass was blown into the street or left on the front porch.  The job was very unprofessionally done.    I tried to stick with them because it is a black owned business and I wanted to support them.  The last straw was when I was billed $250 for mulching services that were never provided.  I had asked that they not trim my bushes or trees, but they did that anyway using a dull saw.  Damaging my smoke bush (ripped the bark off the branches cut and shredded the branch where cut) and my azaela tree and exposing them to disease.  They also weed whacked all of the bark off the base of my red oak sapling, which may kill it.
I contacted the company, told them they billed me for services were not provided and informed them that things were done that were not approved.  They said they'd fix the mulch issue.  I asked for the mulch service to be provided or a refund.  I no longer get a response from them.  I had to dispute the charges with my credit card company.  AVOID THIS COMPANY.  THIS IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL LANDSCAPING COMPANY.  And they do poor work.
