Really well! The deck looks fabulous. Dan went above and beyond on many aspects: He built benches out of the excess material. He consulted me several times during the project for guidance, including the directional of the deck boards. He moved picked up, moved, and carefully stacked hundreds of existing (and heavy!) paver bricks out of the way. He added reinforcement for a future hot tub. My deck looks exactly how I wanted it, and was much cheaper than quotes from the bigger companies! The project was a little slower than I had expected (6 weeks or so) but it was during the middle of winter so I didn't mind. Dan's business is pretty much a one-man shop, and he does almost all of the work himself, from design to clean up. It's clear that he takes a lot of pride in his work. He stands out as a contractor that not just met expectations but exceeded them. I'm really glad I took a chance to go with him.

Dan does beautiful work. He is meticulous and reliable. He's reasonably priced and is willing to take on smaller or larger jobs.

We hired DJ Builds to replace a worn and aging deck in our
backyard. Dan was very courteous, prompt and offered numerous choices we had
available until we finally decided on what we wanted and how we wanted it to
look. Dan led us through the maze of options as far as products, budget and
maintenance were concerned. Once we finally chose what we wanted, not only did
Dan deliver but he provided us with exactly what we asked for and expected, to
our specifications, in the time frame he gave us and within budget. And the deck
is of superior quality. Everyone who has seen it has been overly impressed.
Should anyone ask us for advice in hiring a contractor, we would recommend Dan
without hesitation.

Dan came over to our house the same day that I called him and presented us with options on what we could do. There was no pressure at all by Dan on what we should do as opposed to many that make a hard sell at the most expensive solution.

At first we were considering replacing our problem areas only but thought that we had too much to cover in a band-aid fashion so asked for a total rebuild quote in both wood and composite material. After weighing the options we decided to go forward with the composite material and contacted Dan with our decision.

Dan placed the order for the materials and began work as soon as the materials came into Columbus. He had one helper and between the two of them, tore down the old deck, removed all materials and rebuilt our deck within the time period he had quoted. Dan also agreed to work carefully around my landscape bushes and succeeded in not harming anything.

I was highly impressed with his skill sets, knowledge and professionalism. I have a great deck which will last for decades and am very proud to show to all. I highly recommend Dan!

Dan's price was reasonable as compared to other estimates that I got. Dan and his helper came in the evenings and worked on my deck. They predrilled all holes and used screws for the decking instead of nails. It took them about 3 wks to complete due to other jobs they were working on.I am totally satisfied with the workmanship of my deck.

It started out well; the price was good, the reference was good, and the A rating from Angie's List all helped seal the deal. However, I was originally told that the build would take approx 3 weeks, and took over 2 1/2 months. Yes he was working on more than just one project, but it still shouldn't have taken that long. When the garage was (thought to be) finished, the electrical inspection and the building inspection both failed and Dan was going to have to make the corrections and call the inspectors back out again. After telling me all this, Dan had the audacity to ask me for over half the final payment before the garage was finished; he said "to recoup monies already paid" (electric and garage door) and I refused, because the garage was not COMPLETED (several pieces of siding still needed to be hung along with the gutters and downspouts) and inspections needed to be passed. Dan threw a fit because he expected to be paid for those services without having to 'float' the money until the garage was completed. After I came home later that night, I found that Dan was not there and the garage was locked (Dan hadn't given me a key) and the code would not work on the garage door; I had been locked out of my own garage out of spite. I managed to "break into" my own garage, change the locks and the code, and called out other contractors to find out what needed to happen in order for the garage to be finished. I called Dan and told him that he had until Friday of that week to get the building up to code and pass inspections or he would promptly be fired and I would have new contractors out on Monday to finish the job - all without paying him another dime. Dan did agree to my terms and finished the job and apologized for things going wrong. The final inspections did pass, but this experience was much more stressful than it was worth.

They called me back very promptly, he came out within the next day or two, he was very honest, he told us information that saved us money, and I felt that he was very trustworthy.

Dan responded promptly, gave a verbal estimate and then delivered it in writing. As he was waiting for some building regs on another job and we wanted it done quickly he said he could start and hopefully complete it before they were through, but if they came through he would finish it on weekends. We were happy with that. He was very knowledgeable, helpful and patient. We originally asked him to re-use the privacy screen and skirting that was in reasonable repair which he was prepared to do. We changed our minds part way through and he was flexible and uncomplaining in quoting for the extra work and supplies. He consulted with us regularly and did not even pack up in the rain until it started storming badly when he left dripping wet. The quote was the best we had and the finished product exceeded our expectations. We would not hesitate to use him again and have already asked him to quote to install two new windows (where none currently exist) and plan to have him do them when we are ready. His pricing is excellent and he is a very hard worker.

He did the work in Jan/Feb. Some of the work was not done well. I asked him to come back to fix it. He came back and fixed a little of it and that was it. He never called back to say he would finish the work, but he still might. If he does then I will use him again.

It went very well overall. Dan Boehman came out to give me an estimate and to talk about the work to be done. He took as much time as I needed to answer my questions. Since I am a single female homeowner, this was very important to me. Dan did almost all of the work himself. He brought in someone to tear down parts of the old deck and someone to help with dry wall after the new door was installed. Communication was good and Dan was good about keeping me informed of questions, work progress and his schedule. He was also good in working around my holiday schedule. The door and deck look great, I am very please with the quality of the work that was done. He did everything he said he would do. This was a very positive experience.

Had an unusual problem with a tree growing close to the deck which started pushing the deck and part of the stairs up. The company gave good solution which looked good and solved the issue. The company also did a good job cleaning the deck.

They were very fast and do high-quality work. They stay on the job until it is done. They are very easy to discuss options with and to brainstorm solutions to problems that arise. DJBuilds has creative ideas. They NEVER complain about rain, heat, or anything. They always deliver on commitments and go the extra mile. They have a great sense of humor.
