We had a great experience at Distinctive Surfaces. Carrie Kail is extremely professional and was invaluable in helping us pick out the granite countertops for our kitchen. Although we made several adjustments to our initial order, Carrie was very supportive and helpful throughout the entire process. Kevin also did a great job and was very patient in working with us to ensure the slab layout met all our requests. Lastly, Ron did a great job with the tear out and installation. I highly recommend this team of professionals to anyone looking for new countertops.

This company was contracted through Sears. Jason and Nikos were great. They worked on the countertops of my German Village unleveled home until they were able to get a level countertop. They worked on the project until it was done. It turned out to be a difficult project, but they were persistant. I would contact this company first, no problem.

So far so good. They answered every email I sent and were very, very helpful with all my questions. They have a warehouse with Quartz, marble, granite, etc which they sell at very competitive prices. Or you can go to other warehouses which they will also use. I compared them to other places and their price, while not the cheapest, was very close and their service was by far the best. I ended up choosing London Sky quartz in their warehouse which is a marble looking counter. I have paid and they are scheduled to do the measurements next week after my new custom cabinets are installed. I rated quality as NA since I have not had the counters installed yet.

They did a tear out, granite tint installment installation and installed a sink for the kitchen. The tear out and everything, they were here about 5 hours to complete the job. The workers were excellent and cleaned up very well.

I am purchasing a new house and contacted Distinctive Surfaces to come out and fix my Corian counter tops. They said I should first contact the manufacture as they "might" be under warranty. Given that the previous owners lived there for over 9 years, I figured there was no way it would be covered. I reluctantly agreed and it ended up that I still had 2 months to file a claim! While Distinctive Surfaces didn't do any work for me, given the high level of ethics (they actually turned down business to help me out), I will certainly find a way to use them in the future!

We got estimates from 3 different businesses, and Distinctive Surfaces had the best deal.  We worked with Jenna and she was very patient in answering all of our questions and making suggestions when asked.
Jenna checked out different brands of quartz for us, to see if there could be additional savings with a different brand (i.e. 1 slab vs. 2 slabs).  We appreciated her looking to see what the most cost effective options were.
At Distinctive Surfaces, we were also able to see where the stone was cut, and walked through the process.  Something my husband loved!
Overall, we are happy with the product, timeliness, and friendliness of Distinctive Surfaces.

Distinctive Surfaces replaced my Formica kitchen counters with granite. I went through Costco in Cincinnati and they put me in contact with Distinctive. A Sales Representative (Jenna) came out and gave me a quote and showed me the different counter options. I chose granite. I am not the easiest person to deal with and I had a lot of questions for Jenna before I agreed to purchase from them and Jenna was very responsive to my questions. We communicated through email and her replies were prompt.  Once I chose a style of granite and we agreed on a price Jenna came back with the contract to sign. I would say that I received a very fair price based on all of the other estimates I received from about 5 other companies.  From that point it was about 10 days for the people to come to make the measurements which was done with a computer, not balsa or styrofoam. It was 7 days later they came to install the counters. Before they cut out the counters they contacted me and showed a picture of exactly how my granite slab was going to be cut and used for each piece of counter. I thought that was a really good thing as we did make a change to where the pieces would be cut based on my preference. The installation went smooth. The 2 installers did their job well and it was completed with no problems. The counters arrived with no damage.
I can say that things ran smooth from start to finish. Based on my experience I have no problem recommending Distinctive Surfaces for your counter work.

I was impressed with my initial contact when I went to the showroom.  The salesman, was great working with me, with my drawings and estimates.   I viewed the granite once it arrived at Distinctive; I was told  how the granite counter and back splash are cut with the grain in the same direction.  The guys that came and did the final measure were the ones who installed the first time .  Well,  our first installation did not go well.  The sink cutout was not the correct size, they installed it anyway and it was not even centered.  One counter was 3/8 inch too short, I specifically pointed out during the measure that I wanted this particular counter to go to the edge of the wall. This counter was not even cut square, so the gap on the sides of the range were not even.  One back splash in the laundry room, the grain was not in the same direction as the counter. We also discovered that the counter to the right of the stove was higher than the left of the stove. Did they not think that we would not notice all these mistakes!?  The sink counter was taken out to have the sink hole redone.  When they brought it back, the grout they used at the seam didn't  match and the seam was jagged because they had torn it out and reused it. There was  a crack near the sink faucet hole that was not there at the initial install.  The first sink installed was a 16 gauge, which was what we ordered. The second install, an 18 gauge sink was installed.  We insisted that the whole sink counter be redone because of the crack and grout color.  Distinctive had to purchase another slab of granite to make the corrections.  Several weeks after our initial install, a new sink counter was installed with the proper sink and grout to match. A new counter was installed  to the right of the stove that went to the edge of the wall and cut square; and a new back splash with the grain cut in the correct direction was replaced in the laundry room.  It was such a frustrating and disappointing experience.  My husband and I had to repair the walls after the back splashes were torn out and we had to cut down the cabinet to the right of the stove so it would be even and level to the left of the stove. It is just a shame that it was not done right the first time.  Measure, remeasure, use a level;  make sure it is right before you glue.

I sent them a couple messages to install new countertops in my kitchen and never got a response. It's been almost a week with not so much as a "we received your message and will be in touch".

I am an experienced DIYer and am remodeling our kitchen myself (everything removed except for base cabinets) but decided it was best to leave the granite countertop installation to the pros.  From the first call I made for an estimate, to the final installation, I have nothing but positive things to say about working with Distinctive Surfaces.  Since I demo'ed everything and installed the sink to cut down on the costs. I wanted to be sure I did everything correctly in accordance to what the installers would require to install the countertop.  Chris Denz was very professional and responsive to all of my questions and concerns about what needed to be done.
I should add that their estimate was $600 less than a second contractor's.

They did an excellent job. The price was less than I thought it would be for the amount of work I had done. They were very professional and I had a good response from them. I was extremely pleased. I would recommend them.

The entire project was overseen by Bob. He had good suggestions about the best surface for kitchen work (Corian), and helped select a color that almost matched the tile back splash in the kitchen. About a month later the top was done but did not slide over the top of the table properly. The next day Bob came to the house and sanded on side of the table so that the top dropped into place and remains there snugly. I was amazed at the low cost. It looks great.

They were professional, nice, responsive, and everything else you could want right from the first minute. We are completely satisfied with them. I would highly recommend them. Their prices were a bit better than others, but they were also able to come much sooner than others. And when my faucet developed a small leak and I called them, the owner came out within a half hour! Their work was excellent and they are very nice to work with.

Overall a positive experience. We coordinated their work with other aspects of our remodel project. Compared to other vendors we priced they were competitive (both compared to buying from a big box store or other installers). We were able to pick the slab of material we wanted from a material vendor they work with. We were able to get them scheduled in prior to installing wood flooring. They answered all questions we had about the process along the way. The only problem we encountered was they advised us they would give us the opportunity to see the template applied to the slab of granite prior to it's cutting. That did not happen. There was one problem with the material during instalation. They quickly addressed. Their installers were professional, courteous and mindful.

They showed up an hour late for the measurement. I had to call them to see why they were late and I had specifically asked that they be on time due to my crazy schedule (I have three children). When the counter top was brought in they asked me if I planned on tiling my backsplash (this should have been my first clue that something was wrong) and I told them I had planned on that eventually. When they installed the biggest piece (it had the sink and a corner) they cut a big hole (crooked too!) in my brand new drywall to make it fit. They told me that was a standard way of installing and that I was going to cover it up anyway with tile. The island piece had been reinforced in reverse and was not able to be installed on that visit. After they left I noticed that the counter top was not cut flush to the wall intermittantly and was off on the left side end leaving a gap between it and the cabinet end. The sink cutout looked crooked and was on some parts hanging over the sink and in other parts not. My general contractor couldn't believe how bad the cuts were made. I called and let them know I was not satisfied. They sent out a man who agreed that the sink looked bad. He offered to have a backsplash piece made to cover the gap on the left side. Again, I was told that cutting into the drywall was a standard way to install countertop. He also promised me two trivets when they came to fix the sink. He did not take notes during this meeting which made me nervous. The day before the repair I called to schedule and asked if they had the trivets ready too. The woman on the phone said that she had no record of trivets. I assured her that that had been promised to me. I had been told that in order to fix the sink they would just drop down the sink on site and grind the edges down so I wouldn't be without my sink. Of course, that proved to be wrong and they had to remove the whole piece. In the process of that they gouged my new trim around my door. They took the whole thing out and brought it back with the sink fixed in a day, which was impressive. With the perspective of time, I should have just demanded a new corner piece cut or a free backsplash that runs the length of the cornered piece. They should have offered the backsplash at the very least. I think they reversed the measurements on the island piece as well as the cornered piece and they didn't want to acknowledge their mistake. They did the bare minimum to fix the problem. I just wanted them out of my house by the end of the whole thing.

Their price was very competitive and good. For the work that was done, the individual not the company, really left a mess. I left a message with the company stating that the days worth of work took me a day to clean up. The owners of the company were very accommodating and apologetic for the situation. They didn’t do a perfect job the first time around but they did an amazing job repairing and mending the situation. They reduced the initial price of the work to compensate for the cleaning situation and repaired the work at no charge. The individual I do not truly reflect the company. His bad day was made up by the companies response to the situation.
