+ -1 moreThe technician was very thorough and he found out that I was 3 lbs low on refrigerant. He also recommended that I get an annual inspection plan which would save me money on the service call and would also act as a check on whether I had a refrigerant leak. He said they would schedule the AC service call in 6-8 weeks and that would be enough time to see if I had a slow leak. I also received a $20 Angies list discount. The charges seemed very reasonable based on my experiences in the past with similar service.
Description of Work: My air conditioner was not getting the house cool. I called and they were able to get me in the next day and they came out promptly to diagnose and repair the problem.

+ 0 moreThey did a good job. They charge a couple of hundred dollars for maintenance service. When they clean the furnace, they clean it all out. They clean the humidifier out and clean the air cleaner out.
Description of Work: I use Custom Air for air conditioning. I have a maintenance agreement with them. They come out and check my furnace and my heat pump, which runs our air conditioning. They have had to replace the heat pump and put a new one in. They have had to replace the motor. The furnace is a good furnace, but it is the cheapest one when they built the house. They last came out 2 months ago and made sure everything is ready to go.

Description of Work: Came out to fix a leak in a/c. Had other company come out and had horrible experience and was quoted a 'fix' of $1300. Custom Air came out were really nice, very understanding that we cannot afford a new system right away but need a/c when it gets horribly humid/hot. Only took him a few minutes to diagnos problem and come up with a fix that we can afford.

+ -1 moreService call was scheduled between 12 and 3. Called on Monday, came out Thursday. Office called at 1000, to see if technician could come by early. Arrived approximately 1015 and stayed about an hour. Checked furnace, thermostat, and outside A/C unit. Found dirty coil and low on refrigerant. Cleaned coil and added refrigerant. Back to cool and comfortable.
Description of Work: Air conditioner was running constantly to keep house cool. Asked for a service call to investigate and repair.

Description of Work: This reports is going to include 3 wonderful experiences we had with Custom Air. I thought I had placed a positive report when the initial system was first installed but apparantly I did not. Wonderful experience #1: we have an older all electric home and it was time to replace the entire heating/cooling system. Custom Air was on time, professional, and took the time to explain all the options to my husband and I. They explained the pros and cons to everything they could offer us then let make an informed decision. Work was scheduled and it was flawless. The installation was a painless process for us, we had 3 men working and were done within half a day. They were clean, efficient, and effective. Wonderful experience #2: we had them come back out about a week later to complete some duct work in our basement that would help make the new system even more efficient and ensure the air was being properly routed throughout the house - again they were prompt, clean, quick, and very professional. Wonderful experience #3: just over a year later we noticed that the concrete slab the outside unit was sitting on had cracking and started to dip forward, after a call to Custom Air it was explained we were not alone and they had gotten a bad batch of concrete just over a year ago - within a week they were out and replaced the slab and re-balanced the unit.

+ -1 moreThey were great. We were worried that they wouldn't be able to get there on time after the holiday weekend but they got there the next day and fixed it. The guy spent a really long time here and explained things to me. The price was reasonable. They were on time and they got us in right away. They were very thorough. I've had heating and air conditioning guys come and they were here for 5 minutes. This guy was here for a long time cleaning it. We actually bought a service plan with them. We paid $175 a year and it covers a spring and fall inspection and cleaning.
Description of Work: We used Custom Air to repair our air conditioner because it was broken.

+ -1 moreCustom Air notified me that our technician was running a little late due to all the rain. When our technician Jimmy showed up he was very polite and found the problem in less than 2 minutes. It was a very simple fix and had this been a dishonest company they would have taken me for hundreds of dollars. Our technician also pointed out to me that my older AC unit is in fact a heat pump and with a few minor wiring changes I can use it next winter and save some money on my heating bills. I have had other companies out before and not one of them took the time to mention that information to me. The technician even took the time to look at our upstairs furnace and answer all my questions. Very fair price for the trouble call, Technician friendly and helpful. I will be using them for all our AC/Heating needs in the future.

The air in the home is noticeably cleaner and basement is no longer dank. Bill was exactly as quoted, and they applied the Angie's list coupon for a $150 discount. We are VERY satisfied.l

Description of Work: Had notice something going on with furnace and they were quick to diagnose the problem and make the adjustment. Also changed some setting with the programmable theromstat to improve efficiency and opened some dampers that were closed to help with heat in the house.

Description of Work: The entire Custom Air team did a great job. Jay, Mike, Michael, and more worked hard all day long to get our new furnace and air conditioner installed in one day. + -1 moreRick Thompson (technician) was very professional and did a good job examining the furnace as we purchased the home in June 2010 and were not familiar with the filter installation. I was given a two hour window from 9 to 11 am and was told that I would receive a call about 20 minutes before the arrival time. I did not receive a notification call and I had to call Custom Air at 10:45 to find out when they would arrive. I was told that the technician had just been dispatched and would arrive within 15 minutes. The technician did not arrive until 11:20 am which required me to call a family member to stay at the house as I had an 11:30 am meeting to attend. Overall, the professionalism of the technician and price were very good, however, the lack of a courtesy call and mediocre scheduling service needs to be improved. I was expecting better service from a company that has won the Super Service Award multiple times.
Description of Work: Maintenance check-up and general cleaning of a 15 year old gas furnace and replacement of a furnace filter.

+ -1 moreI called for an estimate for installation of an air conditioning system, and scheduled an appointment for someone to come out and take a look at the house. After selecting Custom Air, they came out a second time to answer some of my questions before scheduling the installation. I had to upgrade my electric, so the work had to be coordinated with my electricians as well. The crew came right on time, and the installation was completed in one day. Everything went very smoothly, the crew was polite and they cleaned up the property when they were finished. The system qualifies for the $1,500 energy credit, so the actual cost was $4,500.

+ -1 moreThanks to Angie's List, I lucked out again by using customer reviews to choose Custom Air for a new Trane furnace and AC unit. Salesman Scott Gishell was friendly, informative, and suggested changes to the basement ductwork to make best use of a new system in an old brick house. Installers Ken and Ben worked hard all day and did a great job. The AC has been up and running for 10 days now and all is well. Pricewise, I'm very well satisfied, especially after hearing from a co-worker about his own home, where he received several bids with higher prices and lesser services. He wasn't using Angie's List.
Description of Work: Installed new Trane system (furnace & AC) with a Honeywell thermostat. New risers, plenum & RA drop. Increased 2nd floor runs to 8" in basement. The furnace and AC units were the base models; the "good" models compared to the "better" and "best" offerings. The old furnace and old ductwork connected to the old furnace was removed. Installation did not include a new dedicated 20 amp power source, done by Safeway Electric at a cost of $320.00.

They put in new venting and even explained other changed we could make on our own to have a safer dryer vent. They explained the new thermostat and cleaned up after themselves. What a great experience!

+ -1 moreThis was one of the best experiences we have had with a company for our home ever. First, their price was more than $1000. less than two other highly respected companies. The unit they installed was a Trane, which is in the top tier of manufacturers. Their workmanship was excellent, and they were prompt, courteous, and very neat. When my neighbor decided to file a protest against putting the new unit in the location of the prior unit, they waited until after the permits were approved and the unit was installed, and requested a city hearing. Custom Air came to the rescue, and offered to advocate on our behalf. Dave Wuelfing was just outstanding. Ultimately, we decided to move our unit before the hearing and Dave offered to have Custom Air cover half of the cost. He followed through on his pledge, and we were given a small bill to move the unit. Our new heat pump works beautifully, and we are pleased with their quality work.
