Columbus Worthington Air

I have used Columbus/Worthington Air for overall a year now. They service my A/C and boiler which it is to find companies that service boilers. I used them to replace my boiler in January 2013 when it stopped working. the replacement cost was $11,000. They are professional, responsive, and seem to deliver quality service. My major complaint with them is that they offer 1st of the day appointment which is supposed to be at 8a. This is great if you have a job to get to and know you will be running about a hour late. The problem is they don't show up until 45 minutes after 8:00a. They don't call you until 20 mins after they are to show to let you know it will be another 25 minutes before they show up. My other concern is that they try to sell you components on something that is working. I'm not sure if the components are needed, at a place to be replaced, or they are just trying to make more money on their annual visit, I plan to use them this year but if it becomes a habit to sell replacement parts on the A/C or boiler, I will mark them much lower.

The representative was on time, and his presentation was excellent. Only went with another company as Trane offered a longer no interest financing option, and they were Bryant dealers.

They provided the estimates and service very quickly. They put down drop cloths and wore shoe covers and left my house clean (well . . . no dirtier than it was when they arrived). There was no hard sell -- they accepted my opinion that I didn't need a humidifier. They completed the job when they said they would and were polite and professional.

Excellent estimate. However,we chose an alternate company who had a lower bid.

Well we buy their service and so as a result they come twice a year for that service. We were able to schedule them pretty quickly and they come and seem to do I can say technically speaking I don’t have any idea how the air conditioner or the furnace works as they continue to function and we don’t have any problem so if they see something that need to doing they will say you don’t need to fix this right now but in the future this might be a problem so watch out for something like that. I think it’s very good as the schedule is promptly and when the guys come they always have their pretty things to put on and they come in the house and they’re very pleasant. They take some time to do their job I don’t think they rush in and give a quick glance and leave so they seem to be very professional in that regard. I have no idea what other company charge I’m assuming they’re probably in line with all other people charge but I really wouldn’t know. I have no complaints about them. We will use them because we have a contract with them.

They were very professional, prompt, and did high-quality work. The sales staff were very knowledgeable about the products and took time to calculate the correct size of units for my house. When I commented that another contractor had wanted to install a larger A/C unit, they explained how too large of a unit would be a problem. I had not planned on replacing the furnace but since the current one was 25 years old, they explained it would no longer be operating at peak efficiency. I didn't think that would make much difference but they were correct. My winter heating bills dropped from $300+ per month to less than $100/month. With A/C savings included this whole purchase will pay for itself in 8 years! I still can't believe it as I changed nothing else about how I heat my house. I asked them which A/C unit was the best, and they expalined that installation was most important in preventing leaks in the system. And indeed, most complaints were about refridgerant leaks in new A/C units. So you can trust these guys to give good advice and not sell you more than you need. The installation team of two was thorough and took time to get everything exactly right before leaving. They also cleangly removed all the old dirty equipment without making a mess.

Entire process of selecting the system, buying it and getting it installed was a pleasure. The salesperson was professional stated the case for replacing the entire system with no pressure. I felt he went out of his way to find the right system for my house at the right price. When all was done I felt the price was fair for the work done and the quality of the Bryant equpment, but it was a little more than I had planned on. The Installation team showed up on time and worked from 8:30 to 4:30 to replace the system. It was obvious that they took pride in their work. They cleaned up after their work area and took the time to go through what they had done and how the new system works. I will continue to use Columbus Worthington Air to maintain the new system.

I believe the salesperson used "scare" tactics to persuade us to buy. He didn't understand our needs. He wouldn't stop trying to sell the "best" unit. It was like he did not want to leave until we signed the paperwork to purchase. He was "pushing" the "best" unit and when we told him we couldn't afford the "best", he started pushing a line of credit he was selling. I thought we were never going to get him out of the house. Wow, I could tell this guy was paid based on commission. I don't trust this company.

Wortington installed this new furnace and A/C system about 2 years ago for the previous owner of the house. He purchased a maintenance plan under which a technician comes to the house twice a year to check the operation and condition of the furnace and A/C system. The most recent visit was today. This was the last one covered by the original agreement. I decided to renew, although the price for a year seemed rather high. In each case, the technician has been very professional and has taken time to explain the operation of the system and advise me on caring for it.

We discovered a serious mold issue in our home that was causing breathing problems for several people in my family. The mold remediation was scheduled, but the furnace had become 'infected' with it too. Whenever the furnace kicked on, the mold blew through the house. We discovered this on a very cold day and called C/W Air. Matt D rearranged his schedule and came out that very day. He spent 6 hours in our cold, moldy basement, taking apart our entire furnace and thoroughly cleaning it. He also explained several options we had for air purification. He steered me away from the $3000 HEPA filter I was asking about. He installed an ultraviolet lit system that has helped clean the air. I am deeply grateful for the work that Matt did and his willingness to make it happen. He is an all-around pro.

Concern #1: Did not disclose a labor rate beyond the $84 service fee. I was not aware that the $84 fee only included 30 minutes of time for the diagnostic. They attempted to charge me for additional time, which if it had been disclosed wouldn't have been an issue. I refused to pay this additional charge, and the marked me as unservicable for any future service calls. Concern #2: They wanted me to replace the furnace, and/or begin labor and repairs without fully and confidently identifying the issue. I was told it could be "one of two things". That is not comforting. Concern #3: Price for possible repair was outrageous, and not competitive.

My air conditioner was not working that time so I called them up and they came out and the guy who showed up was really friendly and seemed professional. I have known my air conditioner has been leaking freon in the last couple of years and so I basically shopped. They had one of their sales men come out and he was also very knowledgeable and helpful and I had bought a system from them and the guy who came out to install it was very good also and answered all my questions and did a good job. They are coming out tomorrow to check the furnace to see if everything is working out fine.

It went great from start to finish.

I was very happy with everything, from the time they came over to give me an estimate, to the time they showed up punctual on the day for the installation. The installers were very neat, and got things done in good time. They removed all the old A/C and furnace, etc. - left nothing behind, but a happy customer. I have been a costumer of Worthington Air for several years for service twice a year on my old A/C Etc., and will keep up the program with my new one.

They were very prompt and performed their service/job with professionalism beginning with the sales rep. The installers were efficient and courteous at all times and finished in the estimated time quoted. Each person was quick to answer any questions we had on the operation of the units. We would recommend the company to anyone.

They arrived at my house about 9am on the same day. They were courteous and professional. The technician left to gather the rather unusual parts needed to fix it the furnace, and returned to fix it by 10:45. As an Angie's list member, I became aware of a significant coupon that I had thrown away. Angie's list emailed me the coupon, and CWA honored it no problem. Great service all around. They are more than worthy of their A rating.

We are very happy that we called Columbus Worthington Air to fix our furnace on a semi-emergency basis. It was late on a Saturday evening when we determined that our furnace was blowing just room temp air and was not engaging the heat. We called a couple companies for quotes, but Columbus Worthington Air was not only the cheaper of the two, but also able to route someone to our home immediately even at 11:45 p.m. without an extra fee. The employee was very courteous, professional and went about getting us heat. He did not try to up-sell us on anything we didn't need, nor did he make any adjustments or replacements to parts that were unneeded. He simply cleaned off the creosote on the element and had the furnace working again in under 30 minutes. The next time we need service performed on our HVAC system, we will be calling Columbus Worthington Air.

The work went well, scheduling was convenient and the work was performed well overall.

After calling Columbus Worthington Air the company sent out a service representative that quickly and efficiently resolved our concern. The representative's name is Jamie C, and he provided me with a level of service that exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this company, and I will use Columbus Worthington for all future furnace/AC concerns.

Furnace stopped working 4 PM one day, the service guy was here by 7:00, other vendor could not come same day. He diagnosed the issue (bad blower motor) but when he went to install a new one, he found cracks in the heat exchanger (which is dangerous) and showed them to us. We had to make a decision whether to repair both items or replace the furnace. The next day, the Sales rep came and provided us with two options for a new furnace. We called two other HVAC contractors to obtain quotes. Worthington beat the lowest quote AND installed it the same day! Great experience with the repair guy, sales person, and the installers were wonderful too.

The services were excellent. He came on time, did the work, and explained what he was doing. There was a battery that needed replaced that he didn’t have but suggested I could get it cheaper at Radio Shack.

Due to the extent of care given to cleaning the system, the total service call from start to finish required more time than originally planned. The additional attention to detail was appreciated.

I called Columbus Worthington Air on Thanksgiving morning at 5:00 as the house was quite chilly and the furnace would not turn on. A very nice lady answered the call and said a technician would call me back soon. At 9:30, I quit waiting for them and called another company who was there within the hour and fixed the problem. While I understand it was a holiday, someone could have at least called and given me an approximate time or just let me know I was in the queue. When I called CWA to cancel the call, the person who answered the phone didn't seem to care that no one had contacted me after 4 hours.

They were very thorough and got it on time and had everything in and inspected. They're price was also a little bit better than average.
