THE FURNACE BROKE DOWN. THE SERVICE MAN, JIM, CAME OUT, AT NO CHARGE - AS AGREED, AND HE FIXED IT. HE SAID HE REPLACED A PART AND TOLD ME THAT IN THE 14 YEARS HE HAD WORKED FOR THEM, HE HAS NEVER REPLACED THAT PART BEFORE ON A NEW UNIT. WITH THE GUARANTEE, THERE ARE 7 SPECIFIC GUARANTEES. THE ONE I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT IS THE SPECIFIC "$500 NO FRUSTRATION GUARANTEE." IT SAYS THAT IF YOUR HVAC UNIT FAILS TO HEAT OR COOL YOUR HOME DURING THE 1ST YEAR, WE WILL FIX IT FREE INCLUDING PARTS AND LABOR AND WRITE YOU A CHECK FOR $500 FOR YOUR FRUSTRATION." THE SALESMAN, JOHN FERRELL, TOLD US THAT IS WHY WE ARE SO SURE THAT OUR FURNACE WON'T BREAK DOWN. HE GAVE ME 2 COPIES OF THIS GUARANTEE.

THE SALESMAN AND INSTALLATION CREW WERE VERY NICE. THEY INSTALLED MY FURNACE IN A CLEAN, WORKMAN LIKE MANNER. THE SALESMAN, KIRK MOWERY, WAS EXCELLENT IN EXPLAINING ALL MY QUESTIONS. THE FURNACE ITSELF WAS VERY REASONABLE AND THEY WERE ALL POLITE TO AN 84 YEAR OLD LADY. (I REFERRED THEM TO MY DAUGHTER AND THEY INSTALLED AN AIR CONDITIONER AND FURNACE FOR THEM, TOO.)

THERE WERE TWO REPRESENTATIVES FROM SWISS AIR. THEY WERE FRIENDLY AND PROMPT. THE PRICE WAS CHEAPER THAN EXPECTED.

THE RECEPTIONIST OF SWISS AIR TOLD ME THEY CHARGE FLAT FEE OF $67 FOR DIAGNOSTIC, THEY WILL GIVE ME A DETAIL DESCRIPTION AND QUOTE BEFORE THEY ACTUALLY DO THE REPAIR. THEY GUARANTEE THEIR WORK. THE TECHNICIAN SPENT ABOUT 30 MINUTES CHECKING THE FURNACE, SPENT 45 MINUTES TO SELL US 3 SERVICES SAYING THOSE SERVICES WILL PROLONG THE LIFE OF THE FURNACE. BECAUSE WE GOT THEIR NAME FROM ANGIE'S LIST, WE FELT WE COULD TRUST THE COMPANY AND AGREED TO PURCHASED THE 3 SERVICES FOR $800. AND WE ALSO BOUGHT THEIR 'GOLD MEMBERSHIP' SERVICE CONTRACT FOR $19.95 PER MONTH. WE CANCELED THE ADDITIONAL SERVICES THE NEXT DAY WHEN WE FOUND OUR FURNACE PROBLEM STILL EXIST. I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHY WAS I CHARGED $168 FOR THE SERVICE CALL SINCE THE TECHNICIAN DID NO ACTUAL REPAIR WORK. HE SPENT 30 MINUTES CHECKING - IN MY MIND, THE DIAGNOSTIC WORK (APPEARS NOT CORRECT ANYWAY, I STILL HAVE THE SAME FURNACE PROBLEM). HOW CAN THE COMPANY EXPLAIN THE $101 ADDITIONAL CHARGE? SERVICE CONTRACT SHOULD BE VOID TOO.

I TOLD HIM NOT TO DO THE WORK, CALLED THE COMPANY, AND REQUESTED A DIFFERENT TECHNICIAN. I WAS PUT ON THE PHONE TO TALK WITH THEIR MANAGER MARK BAKER ONCE. HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK, I CALLED 5 SEPARATE TIMES IN THE FOLLOWING WEEK, LEFT 4 MESSAGES FOR HIM. NO ONE EVER CALLED BACK. I DON'T KNOW HOW DID THEY MADE IT TO ANGIE'S LIST.

THEY CHECKED THE FURNACE AND SAID THERE WAS A CRACK IN IT, AND IT NEEDED REPLACED. THEY WERE VERY GOOD TO DEAL WITH. MY UNDERSTANDING WAS THAT I WOULD RECEIVE 15% OFF THE BILL BUT THEY GAVE ME $150.00 OFF. HOWEVER THEY DID NOT HAVE IN THE FURNACE THAT WAS QUOTED TO ME SO GAVE ME A BETTER ONE AT THE SAME COST. SO I FIGURED THAT IN THE END EVERYTHING WORKED OUT AND I WOULD DEFINITELY DEAL WITH THEM IN THE FUTURE.

THE MEMBERSHIP COVERS AN ANNUAL PRESET DOLLAR AMOUNT FOR ANY INCIDENTAL REPAIRS OR SERVICE CALLS. ANNUAL GOLD MEMBERSHIP IS APPROX $250. THEY HAVE ALWAYS COME ON TIME FOR ALL APPOINTMENTS. I'VE NEVER FELT PRESSURED TO REPLACE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE FIXED AND THEY HAVE OFTEN LEFT SAYING EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE WITH NOTHING THEY NEED TO DO. DEFINITELY NO HIGH PRESSURE SALES. OUR A/C'S FAN SOUNDED BADLY AND WE CALLED SWISS AIR TO COME AND CHECK THE PROBLEM. THEY CAME OUT THE NEXT DAY. THEY REBALANCED THE BLOWER, TIGHTENED THE SCREENS AND CHECKED OUT OUR WHOLE SYSTEM. I CALLED SWISS AIR BACK AND THEY CAME OUT AGAIN THAT DAY. THIS TIME, IT ENDED UP THAT THE EVAPORATOR COIL WAS FROZEN SOLID (MAYBE BECAUSE THE A/C WAS ACTUALLY WORKING WELL?). HE TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS AND WHAT COULD CAUSE THE COIL TO FREEZE. HE RAN THE HEAT TO THAW THE ICE AND INSPECTED THE COIL ONCE IT WAS THAWED. HE CHECKED THE PRESSURE, TEMPERATURE AND REPLACED OUR FURNACE FILTER. OUR A/C IS FANTASTIC NOW. THEY WERE PROMPT, COURTEOUS AND KNOWLEDGEABLE AND TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN EVERYTHING THEY WERE DOING. I WILL DEFINITELY USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN! (THE COST LISTED IS FOR BOTH VISITS.)

OTHER THAN BEING A LITTLE LATE THEY DID NOT LEAVE A MESS, FINISHED IN HALF THE TIME AND THEIR DISCOUNT COUPON FOR $500 OFF HELPED OUT A LOT. ONE DRAWBACK IS THAT THEY DO NOT PROVIDE ITEMIZED STATEMENTS. HE SAID MOST COMPANIES DON'T DO THAT ANY MORE.
