We had told him we were not in a hurry.... so we didn't hear from him about scheduling until sometime in the fall. The job was just completed yesterday. They are still finishing up cleaning up their supplies and hauling away excess material, but we are very pleased with the work that was done! It only took a few weeks from start to finish.
The mason sent to work with us, Mark, was very professional and knowledgeable. He had another guy helping him on days when there was a lot of material to move up or downhill. I was slightly uneasy that they didn't create a landscape-style drawing for us to approve prior to beginning the work, but we found we were able to work easily with him, as he marked off the area with string, we were able to adjust the boundaries of the patio, and watch him as he layed out the pavers so we could see how they were going to fit together. We were also pleasantly suprised because Mark had a vision for how to layout the patio to complement the existing original flagstone walkway, and how to create a hearth area around the outside fireplace. These were design layouts I was hoping to see developed on paper, but as it turned out, he was able to visualize it and implement it beautifully. He also added a nice design detail at the corners.
Another note, sometimes it can feel awkward when there are strangers moving around outside. These guys were very purposeful about not looking into the windows as they were walking by, and we appreciated the effort!
