Capital City Awning

I had a very disappointing experience with Capital City Awning. We decided to have multiple awnings along the back of our house recovered as part of an outdoor renovation project. The original timeframe estimation of the project was 6 weeks, it took over 20 weeks for the project to be completed. Now while I understand unanticipated delays, especially in the midst of a pandemic, their communication regarding these delays was terrible. I had to contact them multiple times, after weeks of radio silence, to see when they were coming to do the work. They also contacted me regarding the outstanding balance before the job was completed. I was understandably hesitant to pay them before the project was completed for fear that they wouldn’t actually finish the job. The other very disappointing piece of this encounter was that in the process of removing the old frames, recovering them and reinstalling them, they managed to damage the frames significantly in innumerable places. I am frustrated that they would reinstall the frames without correcting their damage. When I inquired if they would be coming back to correct the damage they caused, I was told that was not part of the original estimate. I would not have thought to ask for them to repaint the frames as part of the original estimate because I did not expect them to return the frames in any less condition than they were removed. Eventually they did agree to come out and touch up the paint in the spots that were damaged and unfortunately they did a very poor job. I am very disappointed that they would look at the finished product and deem that acceptable. The installer even commented that they should not have been installed that way and that the touchup paint job was bad. I have given up trying to get them to make it right and unfortunately I am left to repair their damage myself. I expected more pride in their finished product and much better customer service but unfortunately I was sorely disappointed.

Professional, timely and reasonably priced

We are delighted with the awning we just bought from Capital City Awning. The mechanicals and fabric appear to be of high quality. The new awning makes our back porch much more inviting and shields us from the late afternoon sun without blocking our view of the back yard. Salesman Brian Graham did a nice job outlining our options, sitting patiently while we chose a fabric. He also showed up the morning of installation. I am vertically challenged, and the manual crank didn't work for me. He returned a few hours later with a longer one (no extra charge). The crew was easy to work with and removed the roll shade we had been using to block the late afternoon sun (no extra charge).

Overall, okay. The salesman was very nice and professional, however failed to return a phone call when I left a message to inquire about delivery date. Also, there appeared to be a disconnect between the sales department and the workers who actually did the work. I was given little warning that the workers were coming to our house the next day, and no estimated time of arrival. Apparently it was assumed that I would be there for them all day. To me, that kind of a limited notice is unacceptable for people who have busy schedules. When the workers came out to install the new canvas after it was initially made, they were unable to do so because somewhere along the line, someone mismeasured and the canvas was too small and didn't fit. They had to have the canvas remade and the workers came back out a week later to install. This time, it fit and the canvas now looks very nice.

We met Capital City Awning at the Columbus Home and Garden show. we discussed our needs and made an appointment for them to come to our home. Brian our sales guy was punctual and looked over the area. After seeing samples and discussing the install and warranty we decided to use them. Since the swatches of material were small we decided to go to the showroom to see all that was available. We signed the purchase agreement after picking the fabric, color of the arms, border colors and fringe at the front of the awning ( lots of choices on everything). Approximately 5 weeks later a crew of three men came out to intall the awning. All went perfectly and the crew was extremely polite and showed us the operation. We are extremely pleased with the new awning and are enjoying our deck already

Brian was super helpful, and kept in touch with us during the process.  The guys who came out to install were very professional and took their time.  always making sure it looked fine and fit properly.

A sales person came to our home with samples, and made measurements when my husband was out of town.   My husband wanted to speak with the installers in regards to some issues that needed clarified when he came back into town, so the installers and the sales person made a special appt. at 8 in the morning before their work schedules to accommodate us.
Ed was in the neighborhood one day and had a couple extra hours and asked if it would be okay to remove the old metal framing, rather than going back to the office and making the appt. then.  I liked that. Nice guys.
The new retractable awning is up, working, and a nice addition to our back patio.

Carefully cut the hole in the roof and installed the Raybender dome. The approach to shingles and flashing was technically sound. Cut a hole in the ceiling where we wanted to light. Joined the two ends with the reflective light tube. No muss no fuss a professional installation.

After several days we felt the light was too blue and cold. We followed guidance on-line from other users and tried several theater lighting filters, but did not like the result. We purchased Solatube warm lense for $28. It is better, but still too blue. We are satisfied but not delighted with the color. Capital City Daylighting has been helpful is addressing our concern but can't do much more.

Estimate was done promptly and installation was completed within a couple of months.  Excellent work!

We used them and we really like the product. But unfortunately, with the salesperson, we had a miscommunication and it all worked out but it was kinda frustrating. Other than that, the overall experience was very good. They were very prompt, they came out as soon as they were available, and they gave us a good deal. There was a minor miscommunication about how we wanted to pay and have it installed but it was all taken care eventually. It’s humorous and a little frustrating at the same time. This lady doesn’t remember what we talked about which I thought was in great detail but I can’t hold it against them. When I priced them out, they were competitive and they have a very good reputation. I think it’s a lot of money but in the overall essence, it was competitive.

I called, picked out my fabric in less than 10 minutes at the showroom (I knew what color I wanted) looked at different brands. Paid down payment.  Told time it would take for fabric.  Installation man came, had the new fabric on by 8:30 am as scheduled!
Follow-up from company to check on service and product was immediate.  Costs as told.  Product as expected

It went very well. The sales rep was very knowledgeable and friendly. He made recommendations and listened to our needs. The fabrication of the frame was down to fit the awning perfectly. The awning material is wonderful and looks great. The guys that can to install were very efficient at getting the framing an awning installed in about 3-4 hours. They were friendly and courteous. Only thing that was not excellent was the awning was made but the appointment to install was about 10 days after they approximated it would be installed.

I had used them before. It went very well. They did a good job. There were some knots where they laced it that I wasn't happy with. They came out, when I was home and fixed it.

There was quite a bit of miscommincation on this job.  I'm not sure why.  The first visit to my home, Monica was on time and had samples.  She was able to quote a price for the awnings and let me know about the different fabrics and trimmings, etc.  It went very well up to this point.  Then things seemed to get fall apart.  I kept the samples to make a selection and there was some confusion about when Monica was coming back to collect them.  Then I wanted to order the awnings and had to call several times to place the order.  I was told it would be 6 weeks until they could be installed.  I thought that was a long time, but I agreed.  6 weeks passed and I did not receive any calls that the awnings had arrived.  So I called Monica and she said the awnings were in but the installers were backed up and I should call the manager of the installers.  So I did that and left a message asking that he call me to schedule a time for installation.  I never received a return call, but a week later I arrived home from work and the awnings were in place!  I was quite surprised.  The new awnings are a great improvement over what was there and they look great.  They also fit very well.  They are much lighter than the canvas awnings I have had on my house years ago, but I believe that is because of the Sunbrella fabric.  Overall I am very pleased with the end result, it was just quite a hassle getting there.

We received two quotes and selected Capital City Awning because their price was $1,000 less than the other company.  Price was this low because their supplier was running a special on certain sizes and we could use one of those sizes.  If we could not have used that size the costs would have been equal for the two suppliers.  We ordered the awning with expected delivery and installation in two to three weeks.  Capitaly City's supplier took longer than expected because we wanted the motor on the other than standard end of the awning.  The total time was extended by several weeks.  This was not really a problem but did postpone our use of the awning during some very hot weather. 

The installation vrew was very professional and the installation looks great.  They showed us how all the adjustments worked and cleaned up after the installation.

I also had several conversations with the company during the pre installation process and had a question after the installation.  All of these questions were handled in a very professional manner.

I am 100 percent satisfied with Capital City Awning and the product they installed.

They were prompt. They were very professional. They delivered when they said they would. It is always a very good experience with them.

Jan brought out 2 different samples of webbing to choose from. Although they were supposed to call when it was ready, instead they just sent the invoice. The piece was ready in two days!

Last year's wind storm decided that the awning over our front door no longer matched the color of our house and removed it for us, depositing it in the back yard. After a summer full of rain and a winter full of ice, we decided to replace the awning and contacted Capital City Awning. They came out and provided us with an estimate, making sure to explain all of the options - they even showed up early and patiently waited until my husband got home to make sure that he was fully informed as well. When my husband had some other questions about replacing the cover on our backyard gazebo, they answered his questions knowledgeably and honestly. They delivered the awning within the promised timeframe and made quick work of installing it, making sure that I had the chance to view the results before leaving. Now the front of our house has a facelift and our groceries will stay nice and dry!

Their salesperson did a good follow up. We took the shade back to them the last week to get it shortened on one side. They were ready to do that for no cost. We were surprised as we were willing to pay a few dollars to get it shortened about 2 feet on one side. I had a good experience. They were honest and a first class company.
