"First let me say this is the first time I have since this review so I wasn't aware of it. Customer did express this concern to budget about service tech not installing keypad at time of service and unfortunately it did take me some time to get back to her due to an life threating illness that I was being treated for. I did send Lewis out on 12/2/2015 to install her keypad. Mrs. [Member Name Removed] had been a customer of ours for some years and we are very sorry that she was so unhappy with our company that is certainly not our intention nor our goal."
Early Friday evening, the garage door opener pulled away from the wall basically incapacitating the opener and making the garage non usuable. While this was not a life threatening inconvenience, it was an inconvenience none the less. I called first thing Monday morning and Budget had Lewis, one of their service reps at the house between 8am and noon. Lewis assessed the situation and re-attached the opener arm to the wall in a very secured process in no time. There was no charge due to the timeframe of the initial installation, warranty work. Needless to say we were very pleased and happy about the initial purchase from Budget Door even though we did experience the minor inconvenience. They made things right in very short order. Thanks.
1. Later, the electric eye safety units got out of alignment. I fixed this myself numerous times. Finally, I had Budget come out to fix the electric eyes again, cost of a service call. The electric eyes again went out of alignment so I had to fix them again myself (permanently).
2. A buzzer started to go off in the motor unit June, 2013. The wall panel says "battery is low" on the backup system. I removed the battery cover and found no battery or battery terminals. This means there is no battery backup system. The Liftmaster manual says if the buzzer is going off, call your installer for service.
3. I called Budget Door and a lady called me back. She said: I don't know what the message/buzzer means, I will have to call the manufacturer. I'm on a service call and I don't know if you have the battery backup system. I will call you back.
4. I gave Budget Door my work and home phone numbers but got no call back for over a week and still have not. The buzzer was still going off every half minute. Despite the fact that I am not a mechanic or technician, I was able to disassemble the motor unit while I was on a ladder. I found the piece on the circuit board that makes the buzzing sound and pried it off. So far, the unit works again and no buzzing.
I won't be spending my time or money on Liftmaster or Budget Door in the future.
"I am sorry that (deleted member name) feels we didn't give him good customer service. I did return his call on June 24, 2013 and he explained to me that he had a Chamberlain #3850 with battery back and that the battery had gone bad. I asked (deleted member name) if I could pull his records and call him back which he said was fine. After reading his paper work I called and left message for (deleted member name) at work and at home. He had a Chamberlain #3280 1/2hp belt drive opener with 2 remotes and keypad installed on 10/31/08 this unit does not have battery back nor does it have the option for a battery back-up. As for the issues about service calls when were called out on 4/4/08 for a basic service call on 4/18/08 customer called back and said that the door was coming down a little bid in the opening we came back out and added tension to his springs, and talked to customer about his Genie chain glide opener lifting a heavy wooded door and that it was slipping we also turned the up & down force all the way up we did not charge this customer for this call back. These service calls were done in April of 2008 and the opener wasn't installed til October of 2008. As for the electric eye issue this is a very common problem, all safety eyes (electric eyes) are attached to the bottom of each garage door track with wing nuts, these nuts offen come loose with the vibration of the opener, also customers store brooms, rakes, trash cans, etc right by these tracks and these items hit the safety eyes knocking them out of alignment. Our goal is to provide great customer service and give all our customer 100% customer service I feel I did that for (deleted member name) after leaving a message for him about the battery back we didn't hear back from him so I just assumed that I had answered his questions."
I called the company back on Thursday May 30 and left a voice mail inquiring about if the parts had been located and to follow up. Another male from the company called back on 05/31 and advised the parts had been located and Todd could be back out that morning between 11am-1pm, I agreed. I noticed that people within this company don't like to tell you their name when answering the phone; it's refreshing to know whom you are speaking with.
Todd came back out to complete me work. I am satisfied with the outcome, but not the overall price difference nor the fact that there company also writes down your credit card # on your invoice. There needs to be a better paying system or safeguard in place to protect consumers CC information when paying.
Next day, as promised, J.R. came out and tried to fix my unit. He was honest and said even if he did, it didn't have much life left in it.
He quoted me price for new unit, including installation and said he would call next day to schedule time to install. I received a discounte off the service call as I purhcased the unit through Budget Door.
Installation day came, J.R. returned, and as promised installed new unit, hauled away old, and trained me on how to operate my new opener.
Great service, great staff, great company!
