The most unprofessional service I have ever received. The drive way that was installed in September/October of 2012 on a newly built home did not appear smooth from day one and beginning in the springtime started to show sign further poor craftsmanship. I was planning on getting the driveway sealed but wanted to wait before spending the money to have any needed repairs done as this should be under warranty. When I called them to see what the issue was I was told someone would come out to look at it and I requested them to call me and I would meet someone there to discuss it. Three months later and 5-7 phone calls by me, finally I am told that I should seal the driveway...which would have already been done had they given me an answer. The lady who answers the phone is incompetent and the owner is no better. Not once was there an apology for the three month delay to get a ridiculous answer from them. They do not stand behind their product and do subpar work. When I call the last time being today he says "I've been out there twice". I said then why is it I have to keep calling you to get an answer. His response is he has to deal with Maronda because they paid him. However he did not talk with Maronda because the super would have emailed me or told me since he is in my neighborhood daily at the other new builds. Their solution to their poor work is for me to give them money to fill in the holes between the aggregate with a seal coat. He also let me know that I should have received a book about maintenance from Maronda, way to pass the buck and ignore the fact that I have been noticing these flaws since the beginning of the installation. I will have my seal coat done by a more reputable company with a clue about customer service.
*Just to clarify the companies response... Never once did he call me back! I called at least 5-7 times. Never did i ask for the driveway to be replaced. Funny that nothing was wrong with driveway yet he comes to my house while I'm at work the last day I spoke with him and repairs a whole in the driveway. While there he does not attempt to fix the crack on side of drive that the "equipment" must have caused or the other two holes clearly visible on the drive.
*i have since had the sealcoat applied by the #1 company for this on Angie's list First Choice Asphalt and it did not fix the holes or the crack. First Choice did a great job tho. In brecks paving owners professional opinion after 45 yrs in the business this was all I needed to do... Amazing they have been around for that long with this type of customer service.
"[member name removed] contacted Breck's Paving, Inc. on 6/5/2013 requesting a quote to repair damage to his driveway caused by a piece of equipment used by another contractor. Our estimator, Rick inspected the drive and reported he only saw a small area that appeared to be tire marks on the surface and determined that seal coating would be the best solution. A quote was provided on 6/21/2013 to seal the drive only. [member name removed] called after receiving the seal quote he then wanted the repair to be included in the estimate. I returned his call and reiterated the professional opinion of Rick that he found very minimal damage and the repair would be costly. Upon his insistence, I inspected the drive myself and found a small chip out on the edge. I contacted him and told him what I had found and verbally quoted him a repair cost of an additional $128.00 resulting in a total of $278.00 to seal coat and repair the drive. I again shared my opinion, after 45 years in this business, the only work needed on this driveway was a coat of seal, which is normal homeowner maintenance. Shortly afterwards on July 5, Maronda Homes notified us that [member name removed] had put in a service request from them to repair holes and loose aggregate in the driveway, which is not covered under their service policy. I re-inspected the drive and found no signs of surface crumbling, just the same small area at side of drive which he had reported was caused by another contractor's equipment. We reported back to our customer, Maronda Homes our findings and quotes provided to the homeowner letting them know that we were making every effort to resolve his issues. Some time later, 1 to 2 weeks perhaps, [member name removed] called our office again leaving a message for us to return for yet another inspection for surface crumbling. This time I declined. There is nothing wrong with the material or workmanship on this drive. This driveway does not need replaced, only seal coated which I mentioned before, is normal homeowner maintenance."
Kept me informed on estimated start date with fluctuating weather conditions, etc.
My driveway was originally stone and put in five years previously. A few loads of stone had been added over the years but was long overdue again. There were many low spots, bumps, ruts. And my driveway is 880' long.
Prep work was done properly and thoroughly and finished in one day. (Grading, compacting, more gravel to fill low spots.)
Paving was finished in one day and looks great! High-quality asphalt, 2.5" thick. Very impressed.
