Brackin Porter Family Medicine Inc

I have been seeing Dr. Porter for about 3 years when I moved to Ohio. She is wonderful, easy going, and relatable. The practice itself is not run well. I usually wait 30 minutes in the waiting room and at least 30 minutes in the exam room. It is extremely difficult to communicate with the doctor and get questions answered. I have never had a returned phone call from her medical assistant.

The visit was good. Dr Porter is great. She is the reason we stay with the practice. But, overall, the practice is poorly run. It is hard to communicate with the doctor. I don't like having to go through a medical assistant to get to her. I would rather speak with an RN. There is always a VERY long wait in the waiting room. They won't take you if you are 5 minutes late, but they can have you wait for 45 minutes to be seen. Also, once I left a message the day before to schedule an appointment. The office called the next morning at 630 AM. PROS-they have open office hours. If you are acutely ill they can usually get you in that day. And, we really like Dr Porter as a doctor and a person.

Dr. Brackin is a great doctor-I've been very pleased with her bedside manner and her willingness to address the root of a problem rather than throw medication at it to cover up symptoms. Her 'hands off, wait it out' approach to medicine jives very well with my own personal tendency to let the body take care of itself. She's suggested vitamins and diet changes to combat minor health issues, and remembers from appointment to appointment what's going on and asks-even if that's not why I'm there. I've been less pleased with her office staff. I'm on two maintenance medications, and trying to get refills on my prescriptions has proved difficult 100% of the time. It takes repeated calls to the medical assistant, and voicemails are rarely answered. When the MA does return a call, she's friendly and things seem to get done reasonably quickly, but I've had countless messages ignored completely. I wish that a great doctor like Dr. Brackin would be supported by a more competant staff. We'll stay with the practice because I'm very pleased with the medical care, but there have been times I've threatened to leave because of the disorganization of the office staff.

I needed a primary caregiver and was referred to this office. The doctor did very well listening and spending time with me, however I cannot get past the fact that the office is poorly run and rigid. While I was there, I saw several folks get turned away because they were approx five minutes late. I understand the reason why they do this is because they want to try and stay on schedule, however they need to re-address this, because it is not working - all three of us sat there in the waiting room and waited past our scheduled time. Also, I needed a second visit due to a different issue.....The office was not open because it was outside of business hours, however, they never returned my voicemail. The front desk is rude during the visit, and it is just not a good office experience, which is very unfortunate. I have not gone back.

Generally, in the beginning, the doctor treated me for various chronic problems. Later I developed issues that were repeatedly evaluated for Multiple Sclerosis. The mix of fibromyalgia and MS type symptoms were frustrating for me and Dr. Brackin it seemed. I sought help (not in the form of pain meds) for various issues. The practice eventually took to calling me before appointments and would say "We don't need to see you today because we can't help you." The doctor said that she was going to refer me to The Cleveland Clinic and never followed through with it. I requested FMLA Paperwork. I had to call and request the paperwork many times. When I could wait no longer, I requested again and explained that I had to get the forms to keep my job. They finally provided the forms, backdated them three months previous and did not charge me the form fee of $10 or $20. Overall, Dr. Brackin was attentive when you had her undivided attention. Otherwise the practice seemed to be poorly run and unprofessional. There was a high turnover rateat the reception desk. I think Dr. Porter's mother helped out sometimes. She was always friendly at least.

I was able to easily get an appointment to suite my schedule and never felt rushed during the entire visit.

Dr. Porter is my primary care physician. I love that Dr. Porter listens to me. She takes the time to really analyze my questions and provide me with good answers. The staff is excellent! Everyone is very good.

I see Dr. Porter and she is just awesome, she's a very good doctor. It's a very good experience. She is very easy to talk to, very caring and I really like her.

I have used this practice now for about five years. I usually see Dr. Brackin and have been very satisfied with the service I have received.
