"I am sorry that you feel your experience was not what you expected. I would like to respond to this with some balance as to the circumstances around this project. I was hired to design a facelift for the kitchen and included in the design were selections of all the products, ordering and delivery of all the products, quotes on all the work and products, and bringing out a contractor to quote the work. I never claimed to be a project manager but did say that I would recommend a contractor who would manage the construction of the project and that we would work closely together. We made all of the selections together which included tile design, countertop selections, hardware for the cabinets, plumbing selections and lighting selections. I had the lighting store bring over lights to see in the space so the homeowners could make a decision in their own home, I quoted all the products, placed the orders and made sure everything was delivered on time. As sometimes happens in this business, the tile went on backorder from China and I found out once the order was placed. I spent over 15 hours finding a suitable replacement tile, brought numerous samples over for the homeowners to review and was able to solve the problem but it did take some time to locate it. I did not miss multiple appointments. There was one appointment that we had a misunderstanding around. I had emailed a time over as an option to meet but I never received confirmation on the time, so the appointment was not in my calendar. The homeowner's assumed it was scheduled. As soon as I learned of the issue, I apologized for the misunderstanding. I made sure to reschedule the time for the meeting immediately and even had my contractor change his schedule to be there in a timely fashion. I was not given a future opportunity to discuss with one of the homeowners because she did not meet with me again, I only dealt with her husband. As far as paint colors go, the husband and I selected paint colors together and I told him to check with his wife, get a sample and take a look at it in their space. If they decided they did not like the paint color in the lighting of their home we would reselect additional colors. They chose additional paint colors on their own and did not tell me until they had selected some that the original colors did not work for them, then they asked my opinion. Had they let me know that they did not like the original selections I could have been responsive and helped with additional selections. Sometimes homeowners like to make some choices and ask my opinion versus me telling them what to do so this is not unusual. I worked many more hours than originally allotted for the project due to the backorder. I was in daily contact with the contractor and we were on the same page at all times. I did not charge for any of the additional time it took form me to rectify the issue of the tile as I did not feel that would be fair to the client even though the issue was out of my control. Additionally, the countertop company and I spent additional hours laying out the granite to make sure it pieced together perfectly and that the installation went smoothly. The project turned out beautifully. I would have appreciated the opportunity to work through any issues at the time of the project but was not given the chance because these additional concerns were not brought to my attention. I worked closely with the husband but like I said the wife was never available to meet after the initial selections."
