I have always had local service and excellent care. Now they have a 1-800 number that calls a foreign country. It's awful. No local service. We are on autofill but ran out of propane. Its February in Ohio. We have been out since Saturday and its now Thursday. No one comes. It is THE WORST SERVICE ever. Do not use this company. You will be sorry. I would give a zero stars if I could.

My mother has had this company for over 30 years. She is now 90 and I deal with them for her. I called 2 weeks ago to fill tank....still not filled....tank is at 10%. I have called every day and they still do not come out to fill tank. They put in emergency order and still no fill. They do not care if she runs out of heat in the middle of winter. I will switch companies in the summer. Also she pays $1.00 more per gallon than my company charges. Terrible service!

The absolute worst propane company to do business with. Amerigas loves charging bs late fees and hiding fees in the small print. They charge $185 tank rental fees per year if you dont fill up your tank. My current company charges $40 for reference. Then they love throwing around there $36 dollar late fees every month. Even when I asked them to pick up there half full tank and credit my account with the remaining propane they wait 3 MONTHS and add $108 in late fees. THEN when they finally do pick up the tank they charge $75 more. and since I thought I was done with these predatory bunch of ********, I had no idea they charged to pick up there tank (WHICH NO PROPANE COMPANY DOES) and they raked on another $108 in late fees. After being put on hold for over a half hour to explain my issue I'm made fun of by these greedy vultures. ABSOLUTLEY VENOMOUS company. Use at your own risk. The above comments are so obviously fake as well, written by a half toked secretary while ripping off a customer on the phone.

AWFUL! We ended up having an alternate heating source installed.
Description of Work: We have AmeriGas at our home...ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS THERE TANK ON THE PROPERTY when we bought our home. We had a severe cold winter a few years ago several days in a row in the (-)'s. We called prior to the cold snap and it took them over 5 days to come out to fill our tank! We even called in panic because we were near EMPTY! We ended up with NO HEAT and had to use every heat source we could use just to keep the house at about 55 degrees! We had to keep checking our WATER so it wouldn't freeze up! Total nightmare. Customer service has ZERO sympathy for the fact we had NO HEAT! No rush to even get out to our house!! If your looking for a propane company.................DONT USE THIS ONE!

An AmeriGas tank was installed when I purchased my home and I have used them for a year. People have always been friendly; somewhat timely on deliveries (always within 10 days even in the coldest part of winter) but with obscene pricing. For example, I just called for a propane fill and the price was about 2.5 times the market price. They have tried selling a "plan" price to me in the past and with the price of oil, I risked it. For example, the market price today is $0.87 a gal. They want to charge me $1.99 a gal. Today, I went with an alternative supplier at less than half of the cost. AmeriGas also charges for everything including picking up their own tank. In summary, very reliable, friendly and very expensive.

nceProblem was with the office, Budget payments were Not explained correctly and no one seemed to know what was correct.. We have been on the budget plan for the last few years. Last year when the notice came and the budget payment was much less I called and was told that we had a large credit and our payments were reduced until the credit was used up and then our payments would be increased. These payments are auto withdraw and we were expecting the increase but it didn't happen and when the final settlement bill came we owed $800.00. We are senior citizens and this was a shock. We called and were told there was an error in billing. We are now paying that off plus our monthly budget payment When this is finished, we are FINISHED with them

Horrible. Stay away from this company.
Description of Work: Unfortuanately we have Amerigas as our propane provider. Our monthly budget was $55. At the end of July we had a credit balance of 6.21. In August they said that our budget had to go to $130/mo. They said that the price of gas increased 27% from 2.359 to 2.999 for the upcoming year. They could not explain why iour budget went up so high except that they anticipate that we will use more gas this year.

On 11/19/10, Natural gas was installed and the propane tank was disconnected by a Plumber ($400). All appliances were converted to natural gas. on 12/2/10, we received an Amerigas invoice for $263.75 which included a $9.00 invoice fee. On 12/8/10, a second invoice was received showing an additional $9.00 invoice fee bringing the total owed to $272.75. On 12/8/10, I placed a call to Amerigas asking them why if the account had been put on hold, I received 2 invoices dated for 12/2/10 and 12/8/10, both including $9.00 invoice fees. I spoke to an Amerigas Representative, Carrie and her Supervisor, LaToya. Carrie and LaToya agreed that the invoice fees would be credited. I also asked Carrie and LaToya why the propane had not been drained yet - I was informed that a Damage Waiver needed to be signed before they would drain the tank. The Damage Waiver was faxed to , signed and faxed back that day. 12/8/10 - 12/31/10 - Several more calls were made to Amerigas asking for a date that the tank would be drained. I was told that the weather was too cold and a temporary stop had been placed on draining tanks. 1/10/11 - Amerigas again sent another invoice in the amount of $28.75 which included a $9.00 invoice charge, a $27.00 credit memo (Carrie/LaToya)and a $35.00 late payment charge for a total $280.75. 1/11/2011 - I placed another call to Amerigas. I spoke to Juan (representative)who then forwarded me on to his Supervisor, Keri. she informed me that she would not take off the $35.00 late fee and I was obligated to pay the balance. I indicated to her that was not the information I received from Carrie and LaToya in December. I then asked to talk to her Supervisor, Amanda. I was told that Amanda could not come to the phone and that she would call me back within 48 hours. I waited, but received no phone call. To date, I have still not received a call from her. I then called the Ohio Office of the Attorney Genera, to file a complaint as well as with Angie's List. 1/29/11 - I received yet another invoice bill from Amerigas for $280.75 which included $35.00 late payment fees. I spoke to the Office of the Attorney General and was told that I should call Amerigas back and see if a resolution could be agreed upon. 1/31/11 - I called Amerigas and spoke to supervisor Aretha. Aretha assured me that the account had been closed, a credit for the $35.00 late charge would be issued and no more invoices would be sent. 2/8/11 - Another Invoice was received from them for $245.75 including a credit for the $35.00 late charge. 4/11/11 - I followed up with Amerigas to find out when the tank was going to be drained so the tank could be removed. I was informed that the tank was scheduled to be drained within the next 30 days. To date, I have not received any additional information regarding draining the propane tank. 4/22/11 - I received a letter from the Amerigas/ER Solutions Collection Agency for $260.25 4/26/11 - I received yet another invoice from Amerigas showing that a balance of $280.75 was due immediately (invoice includes a $35.00 late charge dated 2/28/11. an invoice fee of $9.00 and anther late charge of $35.00 dated 4/21/11.
Description of Work: On 11/09/10, I called Amerigas to inform them that Natural Gas was being installed in our house on 11/19/10. I asked Amerigas to drain our propane tank so we could have the tank removed. Amerigas could then pick the tank up and credit us for the unused propane gas. I talked to the Amerigas Representative regarding the remaining balance on the account and that we had approximately 50-60% remaining in our tank and the Amerigas Representative agreed to close the account and that the remaining balance owed to Amerigas would be off set by the refund of the gas in the tank. A credit would be issued to us for the unused propane as soon as the tank had been drained.

My neighbor called them as soon as he got home to tell them of their mistake. He has never been contacted again by the company- it took until 12/20 (and several phone calls) for them to come back to put gas in my tank-I had several overnight guest and was now well below the 20% threshold. Then on 1/8/2011 I got my bill and the 159 gal charge was on my bill. I have been calling them since (so far it has been 10 calls) to get this charge removed. They increased my monthly payment because of getting 2 fill ups in December. I have asked repeatly to speak to a superviser and have NEVER been able to..they say the manager in charge of Oking the removal of the charge does not have a phone number. I rec'd my February bill and the charge is still there. They said they would send out a new bill but it will take 7 days. They have consistently been at least fifty cents higher per gallon than other providers. They are slow to repond if you are running low on gas. They do not tell you how much the gas is until you get your monthly bill..I would NEVER recommend this company and it seems they get their new customers thru builders and buried tanks.
Description of Work: ON 12/21/2010 they put 159 gallons of propane in my neighbors tank instead of filling our tank and put it on our bill. When we bought this house the tank (owned by amerigas) was buried so removing it is a huge expense.

They have been horrible to work with. They hold your money and do not give you service when it is needed. They lied to us on various occasions and wouldn't come and pick up the equipment after we were done with them. For 8 months they would not pump out our gas and give us our money once we canceled. We would never recommend this company.

It takes several weeks and repeated phone calls to get anybody to call you back and/or schedule a propane delivery. We actually ran out of propane in the middle of the winter because it took them so long to get us scheduled. Not good. We have since switched to a different company.

My experience with Amerigas has been very poor. Poor service response, poor customer service, no follow through to customer service promises. Over past several years, Amerigas had left my tank empty in the winter, and failed to respond in a reasonable time. A good customer who pays bills on time deserves better service.

AMERIGAS IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IN TOUCH WITH. THEN, THEY PROMISE A FILLING WITHIN 7-10 DAYS. IT ACTUALLY TAKES ABOUT 10 PHONE CALLS, AND 3 WEEKS TO GET A TANK REFILLED. NO, I'M NOT EXAGGERATING. WHEN I FIRST CONTACTED THEM LAST NOV. TO FILL OUR TANK, WE HAD ABOUT 45% LEFT. AFTER REPEATED (AND INCREASINGLY PANICKED) PHONE CALLS SPANNING WELL OVER A MONTH, THEY SCHEDULED A MANDATORY LEAK CHECK. THE TECH ARRIVED ON THE WRONG DAY. WE RESCHEDULED, AND HE ARRIVED, LATE. THEN, IRONICALLY ENOUGH, HE COULDN'T COMPLETE THE LEAK CHECK BECAUSE "WE RAN OUT OF PROPANE" DURING THE CHECK. FINALLY, THAT GOT OUR TANK FILLED. WHEN WE NEEDED A REFILL, I CALLED WITH 60% LEFT IN THE TANK. WE WERE DOWN TO LESS THAN 10% BY THE TIME THEY MADE IT OUT, AND THEN THEY ONLY REFILLED TO ABOUT 60%. I HAD TO CALL THEM AGAIN THE NEXT WEEK TO SCHEDULE A COMPLETE REFILL (WHICH THEY COMPLETED ABOUT A MONTH LATER, WITH OUR TANK NEARLY EMPTY). UGH! LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO WASTE TIME DEALING WITH THESE JOKERS.
Description of Work: OUR HOUSE USES PROPANE HEAT, AND PROPANE TO FUEL THE WATER HEATER. IF THE PROPANE TANK EVER LANDS ON "E", WE'LL BE IN TROUBLE. WE HAVE USED AMERIGAS TO SERVICE, AND FILL OUR PROPANE TANK OVER THE PAST YEAR, BECAUSE THE PREVIOUS HOMEOWNERS HAD USED AMERIGAS, APPARENTLY WITHOUT DIFFICULTY. BIG MISTAKE. IF THERE WERE AN OVERALL GRADE BELOW "F" THAT I COULD GIVE THIS COMPANY, I WOULD. I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW HOW THEY RETAIN ANY CUSTOMERS. AFTER A YEAR WITH THIS COMPANY, WE ARE SWITCHING TO A DIFFERENT COMPANY FOR OUR PROPANE NEEDS.

PRICE WAS THE BEST OF THE ESTIMATES I GOT. I HAD A VERY TIGHT SCHEDULE THE DAY OF THE INSTALLATION. I CALLED THE OFFICE TO FIND OUT IF IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO GET THE TANK AND GAS AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE IN THE WINDOW THEY GAVE ME. NOT ONLY DID THEY ADJUST THE SCHEDULE FOR ME, BUT THEY ARRIVED ABOUT 15 MINS AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. INSTALLATION WAS QUICK AND THOROUGH. THE GUYS WERE FRIENDLY AND EASY TO TALK TO. MY ONLY RECOMMENDATION TO THIS COMPANY WOULD BE THAT THEY WERE SHOE COVERS ON MESSY DAYS. HAD IT NOT BEEN FOR THIS, I WOULD HAVE HAD NO CLEANUP ISSUES.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS OFFICE. I HAVE HEARD OTHER AMERIGAS OFFICES ARE GOOD, BUT THE ONE IN COLUMBUS IS NOT. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE CUSTOMER AT ALL!!!!!
Description of Work: THIS COMPANY TOOK OVER OUR PROPANE DELIVERY AFTER PURCHASING COLUMBIA PROPANE. WE HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT SHOTTY SERVICE SINCE THIS HAPPENED, AND OUR COST OF PROPANE SKYROCKETED. THEIR RATES WERE .70 PER GALLON HIGHER THAN WHAT WE WERE CHARGED BEFORE. WE FOUND THAT ALL OF THEIR COMPETITORS CAME IN FAR LOWER AS FAR AS RATES GO. WHEN CONFRONTED WITH THIS, THEY DIDN''T EVEN TRY TO COMPETE. WHEN WE CANCELLED OUR SERVICE AND TOLD THEM TO COME GET THEIR TANK, THEY DIDN''T DO SO EVEN THOUGH THEY SAID THEY WOULD BUY THE PROPANE BACK FROM US. IT HAS BEEN 4 MONTHS SINCE WE CALLED THEM, WE HAVE MADE REPEATED CALLS TO THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THEY KEEP SAYING THEY WILL COME OUT ON A SPECIFIC DAY AND THEN THEY DON''T.
