So far it has gone poorly. I called AWHR on 1/13/2021 to discontinue my rental contract. After discussions trying to encourage me to keep renting, by offering two months free, then offering to "gift" me the old "asset" which had already been disconnected and replaced with a new water heater that I purchased and had installed, I declined that offer. I explained to the representative that the water heater was theirs and the original agreement was that they would be responsible for removal of their water heater at the end of the rental period. I received a verbal agreement from their representative that they would remove the water heater within 30 days. Now that period has elapsed. On my follow up call the representative informed me that the option selected during my previous call was that the water heater was gifted to me. I had to repeat several times that was not agreed to by me and that AWHR was responsible for removal of their Water Heater. My next step is to document to AWHR in writing that I am going to start charging them rent of the space in my basement equal to the monthly rent they were charging me until the water heater is removed. AWHR SUCKS! I bought a home that had one of their water heaters in it. The rental was $13 per month. They sent a bill once I registered as the new owner of the home. I have tried to go online numerous times to pay the bill, and get a message that there is no account with my email address so I can't pay the bill. After four phone calls and at least 3 hours on the phone, most of it on hold. Their "customer service" rep told me that i can sign up for auto bill pay or "send in a check". That there must be "some glitch" in the internet and he is going to "report it to the higher ups". I told him that I am not going through this every month, and that they need to ether come get the water heater and I will buy one of my own, OR tell me how much they want for me to buy this one. He could not give me any information or connect me with his supervisor. Don't deal with this company. Its not worth the frustration trying to pay a $13 bill.

The price increase convinced me to cancel the service or perhaps complete a buyout of the existing water heater. For 3 days I have tried to contact the company at the customer service phone number. Each day there was a 45 to 60 minute hold time before I finally got through to a real person. Of course the real person is from the "overflow" office and cannot give my any information. They said the main office would return my call. That has not happened to date.
So I decided to try to contact them using email. They have not responded to my email either.
AWHR makes cable companies look real good when it comes to customer service. But considering I cannot get them to respond at all, I'm not sure it could be called "customer service"? It should be called "customer blanking".

We have faithfully paid our bill every month to the amount of $18.10 per month. We just got a notice that the rates are being increased by $2.95 along with a number to call if we wanted to discuss. I have called four times, left messages for them to call twice when I was lucky enough to get a message after 20 minutes on hold. Sent two emails. No response. Tried alternate extensions just to get to talk to someone to no avail as well. The water heater has worked well but is old, we have cost them nothing except for postage for the bill. The lack of responsiveness to even discuss the rate increase or possible options/removal of the tank is upsetting and unnecessary. I am running out of minutes on my cellphone plan as a result of being on hold so much trying to get in touch with someone.
In the field for last contact, this is misleading as I have yet to get them to answer the phone or respond to emails or call me back from two messages left.

I BOUGHT A HOUSE THAT HAD ONE OF THEIR RENTAL WATER HEATERS IN IT ALREADY. DECIDED TO GIVE IT A TRY FOR A YEAR LEASE. THEY GAVE ME THE FIRST TWO MONTHS FREE, THEN $16 MONTH. THE WATER WASN'T GETTING HOT ENOUGH AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS. I CALLED AND THEY SENT SOMEONE IMMEDIATELY. TURNS OUT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD AN ARRANGEMENT WITH THE POWER COMPANY TO NOT HEAT DURING PRIME HOURS TO REDUCE ENERGY CONSUMPTION. THEY CHANGED THE SETTINGS APPROPRIATELY SO THAT WE COULD HAVE HEATED WATER AT ALL TIMES.
