The next morning, the furnace was continuing to cycle quickly (blower would come on for 30 seconds, then go off for 2 minutes, then come on for another 30, etc). Needless to say this was very frustrating because Airfast had sold us a $100 on a non-programmable digital thermostat that apparently we didn't even need and clearly hadn't investigated enough to find the problem. I canceled the check and called to complain. Immediately, they scheduled someone to come to our house that afternoon. Jeff came this time and determined that the fan limit thermometer inside the furnace was set too high and was causing the short cycling. He explained to me exactly what the problem was and also changed the filter. He told me what to expect and what to do differently if it started cycling again. He also replaced the original thermostat with a programmable one for $30 more. Overall, I am very pleased because my furnace is working the way I want and I have a programmable digital thermostat.
Description of Work: Airfast was called to our house twice to fix a problem with our furnace. Originally, our home warranty company, First American, called another company to fix a problem with a blower. Then the furnace started cycling too quickly. After the first company had been here three times and couldn't fix it, our home warranty company called in Airfast. The first person who came to the house was Derek. He was fairly professional but seemed impatient and smug. He assumed the problem we were having was with the thermostat and up sold us on a $100 digital thermostat (that wasn't programmable). We spent $154 altogether (warranty deductible plus cost of the thermostat)

Airfast did what they were supposed to do. No problems were encountered with their service or responsiveness. Daniel provided excellent service in explaining our options. The technicians they sent to the house for the replacement were professional and courteous. I realize we did not get a top of the line appliance, due to this being a home warranty replacement, but AirFast did well by us.
Description of Work: Replace AC unit. Replace outside unit and condenser inside house.

When they came to install the new A/C they were very nice, they cleaned up everything, they explained all they were doing and did a very good job. I was very pleased with the service I got. Description of Work: First they came out to see what was wrong with my A/C. (I have a home warranty service that suggested I use them). They said it was the air compressor. Then the problems started, I kept calling them just to find out how much a new A/C was going to cost and what size I needed. I called 4 times and left messages with the receptionist for someone to call me. They said a certain man had to be the one to call but he never did, (he did call once when I was not home yet and I had recently told the receptionist my hours that I would be home from work but he called before that). So I was extremely upset about the whole thing and it was very hot in my house. I finally talked to the owner and I told him that my mother had respiratory problems and we needed the A/C soon. Then surprisingly enough another person called me twice and we got things resolved.

Our heater was broken and all companies that we called refused to come earlier then in 2 days. It was cold. Airfast not only came the same day but also found a temporary fix until they could get the part the next day. Everything was handled professionally and was very reasonably priced. Thank you, Airfast.

They wanted to charge my wife $150 to ship the motor in over night or it would take seven days to get it. She told him to forget it and that she would call him back. She called back to schedule and was told there was a blower in stock and that it would be installed the next day. It was installed, however the technician insisted the blower be cleaned and that would cost $150. This was an insurance job and the folks were not going to walk with just the $55 they get for the call. It took the technician ten minutes to hose out the blower. For this my wife was charged $150.
Description of Work: Replaced the motor in the blower assembly.

We were assigned to AirFast through our home warranty company. After 3 visits and 5 weeks, we eventually got a new A/C installed. However, AirFast was extremely poor with follow up and keeping us informed as to what was going on. AirFast NEVER called us back when they told us they would. We only received calls when AirFast needed to inform us of expenses that were not covered by our warranty company. On one occasion, Tess at AirFast told me that they had spoken to our warranty company and our non-covered charges would be over $300. In reality, no one had called our warranty company and after I did, our charges were only $125. I think that AirFast is dishonest and I would not recommend or use them in the future.

I called them and they told me someone would be out between noon and 5. I asked if they could narrow the time, and she, somewhat rudely, told me I was lucky they were coming at all. At 3:30 I called to see where they were. They "guaranteed" somebody would be here before 8 pm. I called my warranty company then. They called Airfast and Airfast made the same guarantee to them. At nearly 8 pm I called again. They called the tech and he called me back and said he would be in my area in a half hour. He never showed up. At 10:30, after trying to find another company through my warranty company, I gave up. I called Airfast back the next morning to express my disappointment that I had seemingly been misled. The woman I spoke with ended up hanging up on me. I called back and a gentleman promised he would be out at 4 pm today. I was home at 4, and by 4:30 nobody was there. I called and they said they no longer worked for my warranty company. Somebody else would have to service me.
Description of Work: My home warranty company was covering the repair of my AC and I was required to use Airfast.

THE TECHNICIANS WERE SLOW, INCOMPETENT, LATE, AND UNINFORMED. THE COMPANY WAS DISHONEST AND UNRELIABLE. WOULD RATHER HAVE PAID FULL PRICE FOR COMPETENT SERVICE INSTEAD OF REDUCED RATE THROUGH WARRANTY COMPANY FOR AWFUL EXPERIENCE. MANGER, ROB BULLOCK, FINALLY FIXED UNIT CORRECTLY, AND DID NOT CHARGE US FOR FINAL COST ABOVE WARRANTY. HE ALSO GAVE US A FREE SERVICE CONTRACT ON THE WORK, AND UNIT FOR OUR TROUBLE. THIS WAS THE ONLY POSITIVE EVENT THAT HAPPENED IN THE 4 MONTHS WE WORKED WITH THE COMPANY.
Description of Work: WE HIRED AIRFAST BECAUSE OUR HOME WARRANTY COMPANY (FIRST AMERICAN) SENT THEM TO OUR HOME TO FIX OUR SECONDARY HVAC ON THE THIRD FLOOR OF OUR HOUSE. THE PROCESS TOOK APPROXIMATELY 4 MONTHS TO RESOLVE. IN THAT TIME, NUMEROUS TECHNICIANS WERE SENT OUT TO GIVE US DIFFERENT STORIES. WAIT TIME FOR EACH VISIT LASTED 4 HOURS. TECHNICIANS WERE NOT INFORMED OF THE ISSUE NOR CAPABLE OF FIXING UNIT. ULTIMATELY, WE HAD TO FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANAGER, AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY TO GET THE UNIT FIXED. IT WAS THE MOST INFURIATING AND FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WORKING WITH A CONTRACTOR. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AIRFAST.

THE SERVICE PEOPLE SEEM VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE. THEY WERE TO DO "PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE" ON AIR CONDITIONING UNITS, WHICH THEY DID IN SUMMER. ALL WERE INSPECTED AND CLEANED AS AGREED. THEY CAME BACK IN AUTUMN TO DO THE SAME ON THE FURNACES. HOWEVER, THIS TIME THE SERVICE TECH CAME IN FOR 3 MINUTES PER UNIT ONLY TO TELL ME THAT IT WOULD COST $100'S MORE TO CLEAN AND SERVICE THEM. APPARENTLY I HAD PAID THE UP-FRONT COST TO HAVE THEM IDENTIFY PROBLEMS ONLY? I COULD HAVE HAD ANOTHER COMPANY COME IN FOR A FREE EVALUATION! IT APPEARED TO BE A SCAM. I DIDN'T AGREE TO ANY REPAIRS, SENT THE GUY AWAY AND WAS CALLED 2 OR 3 TIMES BY ANOTHER PERSON (THE BOSS?) TO SCHEDULE THE REPAIRS. I AM HAVING ANOTHER LARGE REPUTABLE COMPANY COME IN TO INSPECT (FOR FREE!), AND WILL SEE WHAT IS ACTUALLY NECESSARY. I RESENT BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF!

BRIAN CAME TO MY HOUSE. HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT A PART WAS BROKEN. HE SAW THAT I HAD AN OIL FURNACE, AND DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING. HE SAID HE WOULD ORDER A NEW BLOWER. USED THIS COMPANY BECAUSE IT WAS ASSIGNED BY MY HOME OWNERS' WARRANTY COMPANY. THEY HAVE BEEN OUT MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. ON THE MOST RECENT GO-ROUND, THEY INSTALLED A NEW COMPRESSOR IN THE WINTER AND WHEN IT DIDN'T WORK IN MAY, THEY CAME OUT 3 TIMES (INCLUDING ONCE TO INSTALL A 2ND NEW COMPRESSOR!) ONLY TO FIND OUT AFTER LIVING THROUGH 9 DAYS OF SUPER HOT/HUMID DAYS WITH NO A/C THAT IT HAD BEEN IMPROPERLY WIRED BY THE SERVICE TECH. ALTHOUGH THE SERVICE MANAGER APOLOGIZED AND MY A/C HAS BEEN WORKING FINE SINCE, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. IF YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO USE THEM, REQUEST RICH.

THE REPAIRMAN SHOWED UP WITHOUT THE PROPER TOOLS, EVEN THOUGH I GAVE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS TO BRING A LADDER. THE WAY THEY CONDUCTED BUSINESS WAS VERY UN-PROFESSIONAL. I FIND THAT WITH ANY COMPANY DISPATCHED THROUGH MY HOME WARRANTY COMPANY THE SERVICE IS ALWAYS POOR, THE APPOINTMENT TIME IS NOT KEPT, AND THE TECHNICIAN THEY SEND IS UNSKILLED.
