My father had signed up for their services and he passed away in March of this year. I called them and told them to cancel it and they refused and said they wanted a full death certificate and that they would need to process that and it could take a month. I offered them the article of the obituary and they wouldn't accept that as proof to end the service. The person they contracted with is now deceased and they are denying to end the service and it is very inappropriate. Also they shouldn't hold my mother, who still lives at the home, to that contract without establishing a new one. It's expensive to get a death certificate and they still weren't even guaranteeing that the service would be cancelled if I provided it to them. They also only offered to take off 1/3rd of the monthly price of service AFTER we were calling to cancel and it just seems that they are taking advantage of elderly people, who aren't able to shop around and try to find the best deal.

If the account holder for the serviced location passed away, we would need either a copy of the Death Certificate ($10-$15.00 depending on the state you're in) or a signed letter of cancellation from the Power of Attorney requesting service be discontinued for the monitored address. You may email either of these documents to ADT at AlwaysThere(at symbol)adt.com and we'll waive the 30 day cancellation requirement so that it is processed ASAP. Thank you. -Andrew"
