Above & Beyond Contractors

Above & Beyond Contractors installed a new roof on my home in April and it was the WORST experience of my life! They put a GIANT hole in the ceiling of my office/guest room! One of the contractors either dropped a piece of plywood or package of shingles on the roof and it came through the roof and collapsed the ceiling! The owner (Lamonte Jones) came inside to assess the damage and said, “These things happen sometimes” and he would have his drywall team repair it. I knew it wouldn’t be that simple, as my house was built in 1972 (during the time asbestos was used in paint) and the ceiling that collapsed was a popcorn ceiling (a key indicator of possible asbestos), so I told Mr. Jones that I would need to have asbestos testing done before the ceiling could be repaired. Mr. Jones stated he did not see any asbestos and proceeded to have his crew clean up the debris using my shop vac and cleaning supplies. I tried explaining that once disturbed, asbestos particles become airborne and can have harmful health effects. I asked Mr. Jones for a sample to have tested, but he said all debris had been discarded. I contacted Environmental Renovation Group to schedule testing and asked Mr. Jones if he would be willing to pay for the test; he declined. I called the Asbestos Inspector to have him explain the reason for testing, but Mr. Jones did not agree. I also offered to let him meet with the Asbestos Inspector; he declined. I agreed to pay for the testing myself, and if it came back negative, we could have one of his contractors repair the ceiling, but if positive, I would need his insurance information to request reimbursement for testing and costs of asbestos clean-up/remediation, but he refused to provide it. The results of the initial test and background sample taken from all 3 floors in my home were both positive and confirmed that my office had indeed been exposed to asbestos and was the only room affected and found to have unsafe levels of asbestos. I had to pay for both tests out of pocket, so I had to file an insurance claim. I was able to locate his insurance information but was advised that his policy did not cover asbestos. Mr. Jones did not have the proper coverage for the industry he is in, so I had to contact my insurance to file the claim, which is still in progress. The level of unprofessional and disrespect I endured during the process was HORRIFIC! Think again before using this company!

The overall experience was fantastic. Owner very knowledgeable and hands on with home owners. His crew cares about there work. So glad that they made my experience easygoing

He took it upon himself to not reattach the electrical box back to the house.  He changed out a light on the back porch on his own and left exposed wires.  He put a round light on a square box.  When I called him to come and fix it, he still hasn't showed up.  He was also very difficult to deal with.  

The job went well and they were on time. The guys did really good work and cleaned up. They are always very professional. I would highly recommend them as their prices are reasonable and they have quality products. I am always very impressed with this company.
