Absolutely wonderful

Mr. Prude started ahead of schedule, excellent communication about the work and the cost, and a fantastic finished product. He worked through sun, rain, cold and stayed late the last day to finish. We asked for a last-minute change and he made it with no problem. We love our new deck, and so does everyone else who’s seen it.

Let me just say that I wish there was a 10 star rating! Jeff Prude/A-1 Quality Carpentry is one of the most hard working, polite, and professional person we have ever encountered. He did most of the work himself and it's amazing! (and ALWAYS has a smile) He is prompt and courteous and very professional. I cannot say enough about how happy we are. When we read the reviews of Jeff Prude’s work from A-1 Quality Carpentry, we thought they sounded too good to be true. Words like superlative craftsmanship, professional responsiveness, and conscientious attention to customer service are simply inadequate to describe the quality of Mr. Prude’s work. While other companies don’t return phone calls, Mr. Prude responded to every query. While others might cut corners, Mr. Prude went out of his way to inquire as to what would make us happy and worked to make it happen. While other contractors might trash adjacent landscaping or leave a worksite in a state of disorder, Mr. Prude left little unwarranted footprint behind himself, other than the intended deck that we had envisioned and which he actualized. Perhaps it is because over the years, we have all grown accustomed to poor customer service that Mr. Prude’s work ethic comes as such a welcome surprise. He worked long hours, often through cold and rain to stay on schedule and to deliver as promised. The entire project went smoothly from start to finish. Jeff promptly responded to inquiries during the planning stages of the project. He began work on the projected start date and had the deck completed by the projected end date. Our composite deck looks great and we could not be happier with it.

They are a great contractor! They were always quick to respond to my emails and provided detailed information and clear explanation in every communication. This was very important for us because we reside in West coast managing our rental property in Ohio. (We were surprised to hear back from them on weekend and very late at night in their local time.) The whole process from getting a quote and scheduling to obtaining a permit from the City and execution of the project went very smoothly without any delays, miscommunication, or errors. They gave me a daily report with photos, and we are extremely satisfied with their work. We received cost estimate from multiple contractors at first, and we decided to go with A-1 Quality Carpentry because they responded swiftly and their pricing seemed reasonable. (One contractor gave me more than doubled) We would recommend A-1 Quality Carpentry to everyone who is planning to hire a decking contractor.

From initial consultation to deck completion, the project went very smoothly. Jeff was professional, prepared, thorough, timely and always very amiable. He takes great pride in his work and has a strong work ethic. We are very pleased with our new deck and its two sets of stairs. The deck with its trellis includes both cedar and pressure-treated wood, together with black aluminum balusters. Overall, the deck is not only beautiful but strong and sturdy - built to last! The project could not have gone better.

I cannot say enough great things about Jeff and the amazing work he did from start to finish. During the estimate process he took the time to answer our questions (and we had a lot) and got back to us very timley, usually same day. Other companies would take days to get back so the customer response time with Jeff was great. He wasn't the most expensive and not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and we did! Everyday he started early, hardly took any breaks even through the heat and humidity was bad and sometimes it rained. He has a strong work ethic and it shows in his commitment to his customer and care of his detailed work. The inspector mentioned this was the best framing job he had ever seen! When we had a few hiccups he was very patiently and you could tell his main goal was to ensure we were happy even when we had some minor changes. He left the worksite clean everyday and finished on time. So if you want an unmatched experience with a contractor who does amazing work with great customer service, book Jeff and A-1 now. I know we will in the future.

From start to finish, Jeff was a pleasure to work with. We were absolutely amazed at how efficiently and professionally he worked. He completed our new deck (about 23'x12') in less than a week, and we couldn't be happier with the finished product. It's been over a month and we have absolutely no complaints whatsoever, it looks amazing! Jeff was always responsive, punctual, polite and respectful. We won't hesitate to hire him for any future carpentry projects we may have.

I love my new beautiful composite deck Jeff built! I am so happy I chose A-1 Quality Carpentry. I met with several contractors in January 2021 as I knew I wanted to replace my wooden deck with a composite deck since I was tired of restaining and replacing boards on old deck. Jeff was very polite, professional, and on time. I remember when he came out to give me an estimate in January it was very cold and I offered him in the house to walk out to the deck and he said he would meet me in the back and it was the time COVID was still new and he had his mask on. That told me he cared. It was between him and another contractor, I chose Jeff even though he was a little higher than the other contractor and I had to wait longer with Jeff because he was booked. The reason I chose Jeff was because he always responded to all me emails as I had alot of questions and he was always responding in a fast manner whereas the other company would take 5-7 days to respond. I am a picky person and like to know what things are going to look like and Jeff gave me the address to his supplier so I could go look and get samples of different colors of composite decking. Jeff called me a week ahead of schedule time to ask if I wanted him to start earlier and of course I said YES! I felt so bad for Jeff as when he came out on day 1 to do demolation it was raining. He worked in the rain. When he was done, he told me the time he would be out the next day. Yes, he was on time and I was amazed how much work he got done in 1 day, he arrived the next day and again it was raining off and on and he finished my deck. From start to finish he was done in 3 days and he worked all my himself! I wanted a person who was the only one working on the deck, that is another reason I chose him. He cleaned up the area and was so polite during the whole construction of this deck, He never left the premises and only took a short break to his truck to grab a bite to eat. I highly recommend his company and he is definately worth the wait. Seeing that he is busy and booked out alot speaks for itself, that should tell you he is good. Amazing. The builder made professional drawings and took care of all permitting and inspections. Was here for 2 weeks and worked through rain half the time. The framing was inspected by the city and a trim carpenter, they both said it was the best framing job they had ever seen. Every single detail was done with care and precision. The builder took care to work with us and make sure we were happy with every detail. The best contractor experience I have ever had and I've had major work done on two different houses.

The process was seamless and the product (i.e., the deck) is of extremely high quality. We signed the contract in the fall of 2020, and waited until April of 2021 because Jeff was booked solid. After seeing the results of his work and the process of building, we understand why he is in such high demand. Completely worth the wait. Old school high quality craftsmanship and professionalism: no drama, everything as promised, clean and efficient. He does everything himself, so he has a total control over the quality of the product. I would hire him again for another project.

We hired A-1 Quality Carpentry to build a new deck for our home. It was no small job - roughly 20x20, above a walkout basement, on a steep incline. A-1 Principal owner Mr. Jeff Purdie responded immediately to my request for an estimate and promptly set up a site visit. He was personable and professional, helped us decide on TimberTech over wood, and provided clear guidance on costs as well as on the time to start and complete the project. We contracted in the fall 2020, but weren't able to begin until the early spring 2021, which is keeping with other scheduling estimates that we received due to material supply shortages and customer demand. During the interim, Mr. Purdie sent renderings, estimates, and kept us updated as to the start date. Construction began on the start date given and lasted two full weeks. During that time, Mr. Purdie was punctual - arriving by 7:30 every morning (8:30am on the two days when he had to pick up extra materials), kept the work space clean, answered any questions that we had regarding the day's work and overall project progress, scheduled onsite deliveries and inspections in a manner that kept the project flowing (no delays), and he left the site neat and orderly at the end of each day. I must also say that Mr. Purdie is a marvel to watch work, amazing in fact - his mastery of his craft is plain to see, and his attention to detail is apparent to even the untrained eye. It is clear that to Mr. Purdie, this isn't just work, this is art, and he is an artist extraordinaire. We are thoroughly over the moon with the finished product, and have nothing but the highest praise for Mr. Purdie and A-1. We would use A-1 again without hesitation, and have already strongly recommended A-1 to our friends, family and neighbors.
