Mel was suggested by a realtor, as I consider selling my home, so I trusted blindly. Mel sent his 3 workers. 1) Were on time. Lead person was very kind and respectful, as well as youngest. Quiet and respectful. 2) 3rd person, a lady seemed to be irritated and confrontational with every thing she was asked to do. Later Mel explained they are like brother and sister, known each other since little. Um Ok, well no he was respectful, and professional, she was not. Then we were told to wait til late to mop or next morning. That evening we noticed our box of pop from garage had been opened and pop missing, Odd, but Ok, garage was only open during tile work. We were also told they left grout behind, but they didn't leave any. More odd, yes! That first evening I also noticed a broken tile installed where there was no original broken tile. Next morning I mopped, as suggested to remove residual mess, confirming a clearer view of installed broken tile. That first day after Grout Repair, I found tile already flaking and cracking around tiles that only needed repair to grout and not replacement of tile. It took two weeks of requests to get Mel to get back out and repair grout in several places. Also, after mel came back out to repair the repair, I was told he'd send out his lead to fix the installation of the broken tile (the one that went partially under a cabinet). Mel left, and once again there was the next day I viewed some flaking and crumbling of the grout, in areas that he just repaired as well as areas that were redone that first time. Again 2 weeks of no return contact, no return of lead to correct broken tile, and more crumbling and flaking. I was charged for this being a thousand dollar job, AFTER angies list discount. I've been more than understanding and patient. Since then I had 2 people look at job, and double check sub under floor - which is not Loose and NOT in need of repair. Which was something mel said at time of quote. But again, Floor did not have an issue for 6 years until a heavy pan hit it, and we walked across tiles which is what created that traveling grout crack. I'm disappointed that this is a thousand dollar job, (plus we were requested to purchase our own tile separately.) I was told by Mel that tiles that were removed in original broken area the grout looks good because the tile was removed. But where grout was just replaced, the issue may be because the tile is loose under tile. If tiles were still loose, then why wasn't the tile removed, and regrouted. I bought plenty enough tile. The remaining tile I returned to store, since it was nearly $200 worth of tile just sitting around. Anyhow, overall MEL was nice, and so were most of his team. But the work was like hiring your family and friends that learned along the way, but not necessarily professional level in the work done. Buyer beware.
