I was disappointed that I had originally told Mike that I didn't want the tree to be dropped on the North side of the property. That it my daughter's property and the whole section is a septic leach field. He said that the tree could be pieced out. When the men came, I could see from the ropes that they were going to drop the whole tree onto the leach field. I went out to talk to them and they stated that because of the weight of the tree on the North side, that was the only way it could come down. My son-in-law was VERY upset with the situation.
I was very pleased with their service and only mention the leach field situation in case next year there is problem with the leach field due to the weight of the tree falling on it. They are an insured company which is one of the reasons I chose them. I do have pictures of wood sticking out of the ground from the tree.
I would definitely use them again since I have a large wooded 1 1/2 acres and my goal is to take down more trees over the years to come. Like I said, they were very good at what they did.
When the ground finally dried enough, the crew of 4 men arrived right on time and got right to work. They were very nice about answering all our questions and didn't mind us snapping a lot of photos while they worked. (We were smart enough to stay safely out of the work area.)
The trees on one side of our property consisted of two large walnut trees that overhung our neighbor's roof, plus a walnut and a cherry tree that had grown into the utility lines. The trunk of one of them had wrapped itself around the pole. Working from the bucket, the man (can't remember his name) who cut the branches around the power lines was truly an artist. In this same grove of trees were three spruce trees whose branches came to the ground and a few volunteer walnut and apple saplings. They cut down the saplings and trimmed up the spruce trees. The first day of work they had completed this whole area except for the stump grinding.
While most of the crew worked on the above area, another man ground the stumps of the trees we had previously cut on our own.
The second work day they finished up the stump grinding and worked on a mature, very tall walnut tree whose branches from one side had fallen off during a storm some years ago. We were concerned that the tree would fall onto our house, but we hated to lose the tree. They looked at the tree, and after consulting with them, we decided to have them trim the tree rather than cut it down. There are no guarantees that the tree will live very long, but we are very happy that we tried to save it, as it looks so much better, and has fewer heavy branches that could fall on the house. I was concerned that the trimming would leave the tree looking like the ones the electric company "prunes," but the tree looks great.
We had estimates from two other tree services, and I'm sure any of them would have done a good job, but for the money and the amount of work done, I'm glad we went with the Brush Bandit.
