Response from BROCK RESTORATION
"We are sorry you are unhappy, under all of the notes for your job we have you were happy with the work we did- "ceiling looked great"- etc. It's unfortunate for us to have a client a negative review over the final carpet cleaning not being able to go through the back door. The hose isn't long enough to reach the back of the house instead of going through the front like we always do, and if we had a longer hose it would not have the suction to do the job correctly. This could have been easily taken care of and our understanding is the job we were originally there to perform was done well."

If I could do less than 1 star, I would. I'll make it easy for you in your restoration search, RUN. My home flooded and I met with several companies before deciding to go to with Brock Restoration - it was downhill from there. The job ran several months late, the project management was horrible, they pushed responsibility onto me majority of the time, and they're now threatening a lien on house - BUT THE JOB ISN'T DONE. There are more problems now than when they started because of their below average workmanship and use of outsourced work but they are simply refusing to fix it. My backsplash had to be re-done 3 times. At one point in my job, a worker peed in the toilet and they left it sitting there for two months- imagine how hard it was to get that smell out of my house. I can't stress enough, find ANYONE else.

"Hi [Member Name Removed]. Unfortunately, the notes last mention possibly replacing the floors and moving forward without using insurance. Your job was closed as you were performing repairs yourself. The job was later re-opened in February 2021 and being a complete demo was finished in July. This is also during the COVID shortage of literally everything. The job was originally called in December of 2020, we weren't asked to perform the work until February. This is most likely the confusion on the time frame of the job completion. If you have any questions please call the office- we're happy to discuss this further. 513-481-5844"

We called this company to investigate minor water intrusion into our kitchen ceiling and provide a quote for services.  They did come out quickly, and began opening the wall and ceiling right away.  While they were in our home they were very pleasant and professional.  They determined a spot where water may have been coming in from the outside of the house, and they left three fans and a de-humidifier in our house for a period of three days.  No work was done toward resolving the cause or providing temporary protection.  They told us that the fans must remain on or we may have trouble with insurance claims in the future.  However, the three days after were the worst three days I've had in the last several years- the noise was absolutely unbearable and permeated every room of the house.
At they time they left, they told my wife the cost would be "somewhere around 600 dollars" (no mention of equipment rental cost) and we could call them later to refinish the walls. Upon receiving the invoice, it was nearly 900 dollars for a few hours of cutting holes and 3 days of "equipment rental"!  Each air mover fan was billed at a rate of around 30 dollars a day- this is nearly enough to have purchased my own.  If I had been properly informed of the cost in advance I would have told them not to leave a couple of the fans that didn't seem to be doing much.
I called the company to discuss my dissatisfaction about the cost of the services I received, and was given a boilerplate explanation that their rates are very comparable with "the insurance company rate", even if I wasn't using my insurance.  It seemed to me like that means they charge the maximum price that they can possibly get away with.
I did not call them back for any further work. I patched the walls myself and called a different company to fix the source of the water intrusion.
This experience was bad enough to be my inspiration for joining Angies List.
Response from BROCK RESTORATION
"We are sorry you had a bad experience. Just so you know- we cannot charge higher than the standard rate insurance covers, if we practiced this, we would not be in business anymore. If you were not filing an insurance claim, we also work with you on price/payments. Unfortunately, also as you were using insurance- they require the fans to "dry out" the area for 3 days minimum. This is their rule- not ours. Our techs were saving you from having to pay for claim denials. Sorry for any inconvenience this caused and yes- the fans are loud. They're very powerful, unfortunately, we can't make them quieter."

Most of the work they did was either redone or needs replacement, The workman ship was poor, they didn't show up half the time, and the materials they used were inferior.

UPDATE: They were supposed to find the source of a water leak that was causing our floor to rot. Supposedly it was a problem with the roof that they said was fixed. One year later I had them come back because the floor was rotting again. This time they said it was termites. We had the house sprayed and bait traps but around the house. Now, 1 year later, the wood is starting to rot again. These people did not show up when they were supposed to, they used very inferior products and obviously never fixed the original problem.

"I am sorry you had a bad experience. Not an excuse, but the person who did the repair work during that time is no longer an employee. Sometimes a worker turns out to be a bad egg.... this isn't a recurring complaint any longer. Apologies for all of the inconveniences."

They did a great job! I can't even see where the damages were. They charged a fair price. They came back right away to repair a defect in the ceiling at no additional cost.

I had a circular 4-5 foot diameter section of ceiling collapse in a bedroom due to a recent storm and corresponding roof leak.  My insurance company sent out Brock restoration for cleanup, damage mitigation, and estimation.
When they showed up they were nice and took a look at the damage. I have blown-in fiberglass insulation, which they ended up tracking all over the house.  This was rather annoying, although I can sympathize. It would have preferred they use those disposable shoe covers, or even ask for some plastic bags to put over their shoes.
They ended up going on the roof to determine the cause of the leak, and said it looked fine other than a few nail pops which they hammered down.  They told me that someone would be out that evening or the next day to clean up.
A short while later I received a phone call from them that the insurance might not cover the damages. I asked them how much cleanup would cost if insurance didn't cover it. I was told $500-$1000 just to remove the debris from the room, so I asked them to wait until the adjuster came.
This all occurred on Monday, the Adjuster couldn't come out until Friday.  He took a quick look, said it would be covered and I would get a check in 7-10 days, but didn't give me any more details than that.  Shortly thereafter I received a call from Brock wanting to schedule a repair.
I was somewhat leery of just using the company that the insurance sent without checking first, so I informed them that I hadn't decided who I wanted to do the repairs yet, but I would like them to clean up and provide an estimate for repairs.  They were upset that I wanted an estimate, and told me they were busy and would send someone to cleanup & estimate Monday.
At this point, I was pretty much done trying to deal with them. It was the 3rd time I had asked for an estimate and been dodged. Nobody showed up Monday, and Monday evening at close of business I got a phone call. They told me their had been a mix up and they "forgot" to send someone out, but they could come out the following day.  I told them never mind I would clean it up myself.
To top it all off, today I get a bill for $500 - $100 for the service call and $400 for "fixing a few nail pops".  The weren't even nice enough to include instructions on how to pay they bill, they just expect me to give them $400 for swinging a hammer a few times.  Let be clear here: they did not do any extensive work on the roof.  They were literally up there for less than 5 minutes and mentioned hammering a few loose nails at the time.
Overall I  have been thoroughly unimpressed, and there is no way I would consider them for actual repair work. They acted like it was a huge inconvenience anytime I asked for an estimate, and always dodged giving one.  As soon as I mentioned I might not use them for the work (I was still considering it at the time, I just wanted to look at my options before deciding), they lost all interest and wanted to get off the phone as quickly as possible.
I haven't decided what I am going to do about the bill they sent, because $400 for hammering a few nails is down right insane.
They seemed like nice enough people but this experience was supremely sub-par.
Response from BROCK RESTORATION
"We are so sorry about the confusion. The notes in your job stated you were doing the repairs yourself. The adjuster kept saying the nail pops were not covered, and another adjuster (not sure why so many) said it was storm related. For some reason your insurance company also opened the job again months later still questioning whether we did water mitigation. We made it clear we did not. This was bad communication all around. Apologies for any inconvenience"

Overall, I thought that they were about average, to below average based on their follow-though.  They did a nice job of coming out to my house after hours to set-up the fans and dehumidifiers.  But other than putting the dehumidifiers and fans in my house, that was all that they did.  They are supposedly a full-service restoration company, and I had a couple of things come up with my experience with them.  In addition to needing the fans and dehumidifiers, I had a huge hole in my ceiling that needed patching, a toilet that needed to get repaired, carpet cleaning and painting.  I spoke to the manager (Brock), and he said that he would get back to me to give me with an estimate for the additional work, and I never heard back from him.  So I ended up going with other contractors that I found on Angie's List, which probably turned out better for me in the end.  I also was charged for mildew preventative spraying, when they did not actually apply that.  So I had to call them back to have them adjust the invoice (which they did).  I just have a busy schedule, and little annoyances like that take up time.  Overall, I would go with someone else if I had the same situation come up again.  I have since realized that there are A LOT of companies that do this type of restoration work, and I already have someone else in mind.  Prompt follow-up and accurate billing are a big deal for me-- especially when you're dealing with a major inconvenience like water damage in your basement.

We appreciated the honest assessment and the fact that they did not try to "upsell" us any products or services.  Would definitely use them again for mold issues.

Mark, the rep from Brock, didn't keep in good contact when there was a delay in receiving the tiles for the job.
It took a long time to get the job started and then finished.
Tried to add charges at the end for work I wasn't informed of until it was over.  (Nationwide hadn't been notified either)
Accepted additional money from Nationwide for an emergency patch that didn't happen.  I found out when water came leaking through the dining room ceiling.
Many nice items stored in the garage are covered with debris because I was not informed of replacement of boards until the job was finished.  I should have been given the opportunity to cover my belongings.

The job went all right. It went a little slower than we thought it should have gone. A lot of times, there seemed to be no one working in the house at all but overall, I think we were satisfied with it. The insurance paid for all the work. I don’t know what anybody else would have charged. I don’t have any basis for comparison. I would contact them in the future.
