The fan was repaired properly and is running well. This fan is about 22 yrs old and the person in that bedroom runs the fan most of the year. So we got good use of the fan before the flywheel failed. In many case, you might get 30-40 years out of this fan.
I thought about doing the repair myself. The part alone was quoted at $50 so the labor was $30. The owner said the part had to be hammered off its mounting plate. With a precision item like a ceiling fan and the chance that I could damage other parts of the fan, it was worth the $30 to have them do the repair.
I have 5 other Casablanca ceiling fans and hope I never have to have this repair done again. But if I do, I would return to Westside again.
