Everything went great, had trouble taking out old windows, but did a bang up job.

Extremely satisfied all around. Very knowledgeable and low pressure salesperson followed by a courteous and professional installer. The scheduler worked with us and was most accommodating. It's nice to see pride in workmanship in this day and age. Nice people to deal with!

I recently installed a new storm door on the back of my house. I bought one that looked nice and has a sliding built in screen feature. My shopping experience was pretty shocking though. When I told the sales people at the Home Depot that my doorway was 85" and not the standard 80" they told me that they would have to special order it, and it would cost twice as much. So first, I modified my doorway to make it a standard 80" and spent two days installing the door. I followed the instructions step by step and had to be a little creative to get it all working the way it should. It looks good but I spent two days installing a door that advertised as "2 hour installation." After it was all installed I happened upon the online review for this door. Everybody was either complaining that it was very difficult to install or that the door started to rot because they didn't install it properly. So when I decided I would finally, after all these years, get into modernity and get glass block windows in my basement, I decided two things. One, that I would have someone else do it, and two, I would read the online reviews before I hire anybody.
I read the reviews for West Side Glass block and they were mostly good, and my neighbor hired them to do his glass block on his basement many years ago, and he was happy with their product and service . I called them and scheduled a meeting at my house. The sales person came out and quickly gave me a price. He said that it would becheaper but I have larger than usual basement windows. The price includes taxes and cleanup. I told him that I didn't have any other quotes and asked if this was the best price he could do. He said it was and he would be surprised if anybody could do much lower. I told him that if I find out later that my price was extraordinarily high that I would mention it on Angie's list. I don't think the price was high and I have not discovered that since. So I shook his hand and made the deal. He asked for a $200 deposit on the work and I agreed. Typically, I don't like to pay anything up front but a lot of contractors ask for something. I assume they do just in case you decide to back out prior to having the job completed. He said it was to order the materials.
Everything so far had gone just as I suspected, but what happened next is why I didn't give them an A score across the board. I met the salesman on a Saturday and he told me that they would contact me to schedule the work on Monday. So Monday came and went. Then another Monday came and went. Finally I called them the following Monday. They scheduled me six weeks out. I just wonder if they would have ever called me back. I mean, I gave them two weeks before calling them. I know scheduling can be difficult but how hard is it to make a phone call? The day before the job was supposed to be done I received a call. Not so much a confirmation call, but more of a "it's probably going to be raining so we probably won't be there" call. So we tried to schedule another day, which was about two more weeks away. At this point I was a little miffed because I just wanted this job done and we were going on two months now. More than a week before the job was scheduled I received a call. At least they were calling me now. They said they could get to the job earlier than expected and we agreed on October 28.
On the day of the install, my wife was home to let them in the basement. They were in at the scheduled time, if not a little earlier, and they finished the job quickly. The installer called me to let me know that the job was complete, and asked me if I had the original quote so he could write "completed" on the paper to serve as my receipt. I asked him how the job went and he, very curtly, responded "good." I don't think it went as smoothly as they expected. I told him that it wouldn't be necessary but then later that day realized that that was a stupid thing to say, since I would need the receipt for tax purposes. I quickly called the installer back and asked if he could have the receipt mailed to me, which he agreed to. The receipt came in the mail shortly thereafter.
The installer had to remove the air duct for my dryer since it could no longer reach the vent. I repaired the vent when I got home. That was not a problem for me. Overall I am very happy with my new glass block windows.

The man that came over to install my basement windows was very nice and professional..........My house was built in 1934 and had the original windows on it. He took out the old ones and installed the design that I wanted..........He told me he had to make some extra adjustments to get the windows to fit at no additional cost to me........I got the windows with the vents in them so that I could get outside air into the basement..........I highly recommend West Side Glass Block for anyone who wants these kind of windows, you won't be sorry

The company was very easy to work with. They provided a quote when I wasn't home and the person who came over to the house later called me and answered some of my questions. We were put on the schedule right away and were actually bumped up by a week becuase of another job that was cancelled. The installer that came out worked alone from about 8:30 to 1:30pm and did a great job cleaning up. I was a little worried at first about the clean up becuase I had temporaily installed foam board and spray foam around the windows but the installed did a very careful job to cut them out and clean up nicely. A little slow on the response time with the office between emails but that's my only complaint, nothing bad to say about the windows or install.

First off, I thought their price was extremely competitive. The sales associate, Jeff, is very knowledgeable and professional.
The installer, Todd, showed up promptly at 8:30 am, but had barely unloaded his truck when we were interuupped by a sudden, heavy thunderstorm that stuck around for awhile. Moreover, he had to be at another site--approx. 30 miles away--at noon. While I was thinking I'd have to reschedule, Todd offered to come back and do my installation and quot;around dinnertime, and quot; making sure that would be convenient for me. Sure enough, he called at 3 pm and said he would be at my house by 5 or 5:30. Again, he was punctual, and installed my beautiful new window in just under 2 hours, including cleanup. I am pleased to recommend this company!

We had our glass block windows installed 13 years ago, and just recently the outside cover on the dryer vent block cracked and one of our bigger cats broke the rest of it open using it as an escape route. We called West Side, who installed the block, and they came out 2 days later to look at it and give us a price. We agreed to the price, the installer came out on a rainy Saturday morning and re-installed a new vent block in about 20 minutes.

From the initial call to request an estimate to the installation, everything went smooth. The woman in the office is very friendly and helpful and Jeff Spiro was prompt in getting our quote worked up. The installation was quick and we didn't even know he was here working. Great job and I will be using them again in a few weeks for a couple more basement windows!

The 2 installers showed up on time and quickly got to work. Because of the sheer number of windows to be installed, it was scheduled to be an all day job. However, even with a downpour halfway through the afternoon, the windows were installed and cleanup complete before 5pm. The new windows look great and the basement is so much brighter. I would definitely recommend West Side Glass Block to anyone looking to install glass block in their home/business.
