A few weeks after having major auto repair work done to the front of my car by another auto repair shop about 6 months ago, which cost me an arm and a leg, my car started to vibrate violently, and make very loud noises while driving. It sounded as if the front wheels would come off at any moment. Especially when driving on the highway. And for 6 month I avoided the highway and still felt like I was putting my life at risk everytime I got behind the wheel.
Recently I renewed my membership with Angie's list, and found Target Auto Service about 4 miles from my house. They had a very high rating so I decided to try them out. I didn't call to make an appointment 1st (something in retrospect, given the amount of business they seem to get, would probably be the smart thing to do in the future) I decided to take a chance and just show up. When I got their they were very busy. I was met by Joe Czaplenski who told me they were too busy to work on my car today. I ask him if someone could just look at my car to give me an estimate of the problem and what it would cost to fix it. He initially said it would be $25 for an estimate and that the cost of the estimate would go towards the cost of repair, if I decided to have it fixed by them. I said ok, but he never charged me for the estimate. That was the 1st plus.
He came back quickly with the estimate of the problem, the right front wheel bearing was shot and the cost to repair it would be $219.40. The 2nd big plus. I expected the cost to repair this problem to be about 10 time this amount. Then he surprised me again by saying they could fix it today. I told him that I work mid-shift and would need to wait while if was being repaired so that, hopefully, I could drive the car to work. He asked me when was the latest I could leave for work, I told him 5pm, it was after 2pm when I brought the car in. He said he'd try to have the work done by then. I also told him that I had a discount coupon from Angies List for 10% off. He pointed out that the coupon expired a month ago. I didn't notice the expiration date when I printed it.
while I was waiting for the car to be repaired I saw and heard what sounded like a lot of very satisfied return customers coming in to pick up their car or make an appointment to have their car serviced. Big plus #3.
At 5pm the car was ready and Joe ended up giving me the 10% discount anyway. So my cost out the door, with tax was only $213.35. The 4th big plus. And the 5th big plus, only one that really matters, the car sounds and handles great! That's why these guys at Target Auto are the only guys I'll take my car to from now on.
