Technique Waterproofing

While Michael's work was satisfactory, he was incredibly unprofessional. He would not provide a receipt or documentation of the work he did, and came to our house unannounced and opened an unlocked door looking to be paid. I wrote him a check to his company's name and he said he could not deposit this check because it was not written out to his personal name. We then wrote him a new check, and he deposited both, getting paid double. It is clearly my fault for not canceling the first check, but also very unethical of him to deposit both after claiming he could not deposit the first. He now will not return phone calls.

To say this was a pleasant experience just would not do justice for Sherlock Homes. First off, Michael Caruth is someone who cares deeply about each job and cares only about doing it right. It began for me with a second opinion on a re-inspection prior to purchasing my home. After my initial home inspection, I was told that the entire foundation needed to be waterproofed and it would cost $20,000. That was that. Seeing as I just moved to Cleveland and had my wife and infant still in Florida with a May 1st deadline to close on a home, I was a little upset. I called Sherlock Homes for a second opinion and he came and did a very through inspection with no idea of what we were already told. He pointed out everything and offered us explanations as to what was causing a certain problem and how it could be fixed rather then just putting a moisture meter on a wall and saying "yep, whole foundation needs to be dug out." He came in with an estimate that was half the original amount of the other company.
The experience only improved from there. We first got the de-molding done in the basement. They carefully stripped all the paint off of the basement walls, removed shelves, and really took their time. They even moved a dryer outlet for us so that we could move our dryer next to our washer! After the basement they began working on the outside. They explained everything that was being done and how it was working out. They were methodical, kind, courteous, and did the job right. I highly recommend this company for anyone.
