Regency Design + Build

I found Regency Design and Build on Angie's list and based on my discussions with Norm and the detailed quality of the proposal he gave me, I decided to hire them for the major upgrades at my home in Solon. I live out of state, so it was important to hire a company that knew what they were doing, is ethical, honest, and loved my home as much as I did. The crew including Eli, Nicole, Mo, Charlie, and Lisa were incredibly generous with their time and TLC. Norm did a number of video calls with me to show me the status of my work and Eli took lots of pictures and loaded them to their Buildertrend website so I could view them. Nicole was phenomenal with the calendar, scheduling, follow-ups, and keeping me apprised of the job completion status and the team overall ESPECIALLY NORM went above and beyond to address my concerns and needs. Norm was also fair and honest in the pricing of change orders or unforeseen items. He took full responsibility for the performance and quality of the job his team did, addressing gaps immediately without complaining. My project was over $100k and Norm and team delivered an excellent quality job for my investment. I very rarely do reviews of companies and typically only do them when I am really unhappy with the quality of a company's job. This was different. I felt compelled to share my truth about Norm and Regency Design and Build's quality and professionalism. I will likely use them again for a future project.

Our basement finishing was a very large project that involved extensive plumbing, a full bathroom, a kitchenette, a lot of electrical wiring, flooring, trim carpentry, etc. to create the recreational area we had always dreamed about. We essentially created another 1,400 sq. ft. house in our basement, so we were nervous about picking a quality contractor. Outside of the purchase of our house, this project would represent the most we had spent on anything. From my first meeting with Norm, I felt comfortable with Regency. They took time to listen to what we wanted and offered thoughtful suggestions rather than aggressively pushing their ideas and ignoring what we really wanted. I accepted multiple bids for our project, and Regency’s quote was very competitive. It was not necessarily the lowest, but it certainly was not the highest. Where we did receive lower quotes, we had a lot of questions about the quality we would end up with. As the project got started, we changed some things. These changes often end up being costly with other contractors, but this was not the case with Regency. I found them to be very flexible. You could everyone at Regency wants to make sure the customer is happy with the end result. I heard this multiple times when I asked for something to be changed. It was great to know they really wanted to make sure we were happy. The trades used by Regency were all very professional. This was a huge project that could have created a lot of mess, but every contractor working in our basement was very mindful about cleaning up. There was also great communication with Ruth in the office, who stayed on top of what was happening every step of the way. I wanted to wait a few month after the work to create my review so I would be in a better position to report on the quality of work and that any follow-up items were addressed. I am just as happy now with the quality of work as I was when the project had just completed. I will definitely be using Regency for future remodeling projects. Highly recommended!!!

There needs to be an A+ button!! Regency Design and Build is seriously the most amazing remodeling company I have ever worked with! As someone who has done several kitchen remodels in different homes, as well as bathroom and basement re-designing and remodeling, I can honestly say that I have never dealt with such an efficient and conscientious group of people. From start to finish, I knew exactly what was happening. Every day, Ruth would email me and let me know WHO was coming out, WHEN they were coming out and WHAT they would be doing the next day. The work they did for me (a complete basement demo and remodel) was phenomenal! I could not be more pleased. Norm's estimate was extremely fair and did not change throughout the project, unless I wanted to add on something. I will definitely work with Regency again for any remodeling or updating needs I may have. You guys are AWESOME! Thank you!

If you are seeking a full commitment to customer service, use of quality materials, and careful attention to every detail of the finished product, I highly recommend Regency Developers Inc. for all possible home improvement projects. I selected Regency Developers to finish my basement. The services provided exceeded my expectations from the initial review/proposal for my project to the final sign-off. This is a "hands-on contractor" that I will use gain and recommend to others.

Everything went great! Norm went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied with everything. This was our first major remodel, and both Norm and Ruth walked us through each step and made sure we understood everything that was happening. It was a job well done - we love our new bathroom!

Regency was overall wonderful to work with!! They use an interactive platform that makes it helpful to look at options, make payments, and answer questions. Not only that, but we worked with Ruth in their office who was wonderfully responsive and just a pleasure to talk to. Norm and his team were friendly, highly skilled, and considerate. Their work was top-notch. They got things done in a timely fashion (right at our deadline). We were thrilled with how our bathroom turned out - and how nice their whole team was. It could have been an awful experience due to all the headaches with our new house, but they made it happen! Two things to note - Their billing had us paying our final payment 3 weeks before work was done. If you're nervous about that, consider working out different terms with them. They were responsive when we asked about options for the second job. Other thing was that they don't use dropcloths or tarps to protect floors and furniture, except when doing demolition. They were very good about cleaning up, and absolutely nothing was damaged, but if you have floors or furniture you're worried about, make sure to cover it up to avoid dust.

Norm and crew were great to work with during the whole project. Ruth keeps you updated on scheduling and helps with selections. She went above and beyond to help me get the floor I really wanted at a great price. Pam is the neatest painter I’ve ever seen. Everyone was professional, friendly and attentive. Very positive experience. Highest quality workmanship. Great people.

This is the third project I’ve completed with Regency Developers. Norm is a pleasure to work with both in the quoting phase and during construction. I appreciate fair pricing and quality workmanship. Ruth keeps everything updated in The Buildertrend app. This includes all progress payments, schedule updates, etc. I will continue to use them for future projects.

Norm and his crew completely remodeled our 100 year old bathroom. They took it down to the studs. They converted the tub to a tub/shower. The job entailed new plumbing, electrical, new tile floor and walls.They also added an exhaust fan, new vanity, sinks, countertop and new lights. They were very professional and kept the work site immaculate. Ruth did a great job with communication and what we needed to select. They were attentive to our budget and very receptive to any questions or comments we had. Overall an excellent job.

We are thoroughly enjoying our new kitchen. Norm came up with the perfect design. I had consulted with other kitchen designers and his plan was the winner. He was respectful of our budget and advised us well throughout the project. Norm and his crew were a pleasure today have in the house. We trusted them completely. Couldn't have asked for a better team!!!

Our experience with Regency was amazing. I can't even remember if they had the "best" quote, but Norm from Regency struck me as the most straightforward and honest, which paid off in spades through my entire bathroom renovation. To start with, he made the executive decision to upgrade several things. One was a fan for the bath/shower and the other was increasing the height the tile went up on the walls. Neither of these upgrades cost me any money (although I would have gladly paid extra for them at his suggestion), and they must have come at quite a cost to Norm's bottom line as my bathroom is gigantic. He had no reason to just hand us these upgrades, but he did anyway because, as he put it, he doesn't like to put these decisions on the customer. Another way his straightforward nature was much appreciated was the few times mistakes occurred. In one instance, the vanity was placed in the wrong spot on the wall (which, honestly, was my fault because I approved the spot), and this was fixed without any question or issue. Another way was that a cabinet came in slightly broken (several different times -- a manufacturing error and not a mistake on Regency's part) in ways I probably wouldn't have noticed unless they were pointed out to me. But Regency did point out the places where the cabinet was damaged and made sure we got a 100% undamaged cabinet. It didn't matter to them that the damage was something I may have never noticed. They wanted the job done right. When we do another renovation down the line, I plan on going with Regency again. I already told them so several times. Great work -- better than I ever expected.

The work was outstanding! I am extremely satisfied with all aspects of the new kitchen! Not only am I completely satisfied with the final product, but the entire process was enjoyable. Norm and the team at Regency Developers did a tremendous job remodeling the kitchen of our 95-year-old home. We did a complete renovation down to the studs which included electrical, plumbing, drywall, carpentry, cabinets, countertops, flooring, and more. From demolition to punch-list the project lasted approximately three months. The expertise and regular communication from Norm and his team was very important to us, and we could not be more pleased with their work. We would highly recommend Regency Developers to others.

It took much longer than anticipated, but not by any fault of Regency. Some cabinets were damaged on arrival and had to be reordered. It was much more important to me that I was comfortable with all the individuals traipsing in and out of my house. They were personable and considerate. They were very conscientious about everything being done well and completely. Anything that wasn't perfect was corrected without my having to say anything. They made every effort to accommodate my preferences and concerns. Communication was easy and timely. I liked the way the finances were handled--very transparent and uncomplicated. They were careful with my money, steering me toward suppliers that would be reasonable. Overall, there was a feeling of trust that they were looking out for my interests and they knew what they were doing.

Regency was prompt in providing an initial estimate. Work could not begin for about 6 weeks after we finalized the contract, but once they did start they were there nearly every day (except for holidays, a vacation, and waiting for some of the materials). We knew going in there were some serious water leaks that needed to be repaired, this required complete removal of floor in both rooms. The plumbing was very old (original to the 1960 house), some of which was leaking or clogged nearly completely. Almost all the plumbing in both bathrooms was replaced to the main stack with new PVC pipe. There are NO leaks now and the tub and shower drains do not clog every month! The rooms were taken down to the studs, toilets relocated in both bathrooms to improve layout and increase size of shower in master bath. Very professional contractor and tradesmen. Norm Muskal kept the project moving, and we did not need to constantly bug him about when subcontractors were going to arrive. We had to do a lot of legwork in choosing finishes (flooring, tile, paint, etc), but the suppliers they recommended all had showrooms so this was helpful esp for plumbing fixtures. We are extremely pleased with our finished products! They even repaired the drywall in the garage and master bedroom that had been pretty badly damaged by leaks over the years. Work was mostly completed in 4 months (few left-over items into Jan), which was longer than we thought it would take. However some of the delays were out of everyone's control. Communication was pretty good, had only 1 or 2 incidents and these were resolved without much problem. Office staff very "on top" of everything in terms of ordering items to prevent delays (although this still happened due to a change in supplier, but ended up being to our benefit). Very nice work and we would hire them again for our next major remodeling project.

Norm and his team of experts far exceeded our expectations! From day one of the bathroom project till the very end... each step was handled with extreme professionalism, dedication and attention to detail. Each expert made us feel like they were working on their own home... Norm makes you feel like your job is the most important one he has. He oversees everything to make sure it is being done exactly right. He made countless suggestions and had ideas that really made a difference. This level of competence is something you don't find very often. We couldn't be happier with our beautiful and functional bathroom!!!

The 100+ year old 4 car garage was built into the side of an embankment with attic space on top and a small living space on the bottom. We had other contractors that wanted to level the whole structure and start new, or just did not want to take the project on. Norm was great. He did not push for unnecessary work and throughly explained what needed to be done. The whole project went as planned and we were very pleased with the results. Norm and his crew were professional, clean, and responsive. We would not hesitate to use him in the future.

Norm served as my primary contact providing the original quote and GC services throughout the project. Regency uses an app called Buildertrend to track parts, payments, change orders? etc. Ruth is the office contact and she does a great job of keeping everything documented and on track. For this project, there were finish items that were the owners responsibility to select (vanity, tile, fixtures, etc). Ruth is very helpful keeping this all on track as the project commenced once items were selected. Everyone was very courteous and great to work with throughout the project. Important to me is that there weren't lots of down days. Norm kept a good schedule of trades during the project which took approx five weeks.

The work completed by Norm and his team was amazing. It took 2 weeks from start to finish with an outside vendor adding in a floor. All the folks from the painter, finisher, builders and electrician were professional and timely. The work is beautiful and the detail is perfect. They communicated well and Norm kept me up-to-date everyday via texts (which I loved). The room is perfect, warm and lite well. We are very happy with the end result. I would recommend Regency Developers in the near eastside neighborhoods.
