I was dissatisfied with my previous tax preparer and I used Angie's List to search for a new one. That's how I found Newman & Company and I'm very glad I did. I have only high praise for them. Professional, friendly, helpful, efficient and -- gravy I didn't really expect -- they saved me money. I recommend them enthusiastically.

A friend did my taxes for years--a complicated process because I have 5 to 6 sources of income each year and numerous deductions associated with each, including one that involves 1099's for several other people that I pay and manage. I had no idea where to turn to get someone to do my taxes who would make sense of my work and the many tentacles of it. I went on Angie's List to find a knowledgable tax accountant and settled on Newman & Co. CPA's because of their reviews, and it was the right decision. After owing thousands of dollars at the end of every year--last year over $7,000 to both the state and federal government--I nearly fainted to see I owed the federal government only $225 this year and I was getting a return of $488 from the state. I don't remember the last time I finished the tax year in the black on either return. The comprehensive information-gathering process used by Newman & Co. includes a profile of several pages that prompted me to be more thoughtful than ever about my earnings and deductions; their tax and business advice was friendly and personalized; I had the feeling throughout the experience that I had made the right choice and I was in good hands. Liz and Steve are responsive, professional and personable. I got the sense from both that they truly cared about the work I do and how they could help me do it better. I paid Newman to do both my taxes and my son's taxes, this year. I gladly wrote a check for three times what my friend had charged to do our. It was a small fee for the enormous satisfaction I had this year to see a tax return and not a huge balance owed to the IRS and state treasurer. I've written a review for several services, but don't remember writing one that is more heartfelt and appreciative.

Steven Newman is an angel among men. He calmed my anxiety over the tax troubles I was having, created a plan of action, and is helping me get my small business back on track for an extremely affordable cost. I would highly recommend his services for any small business owner who like me, has no idea what they're doing tax-wise. His staff is friendly and knowledgeable and I will definitely be back for any other accounting needs that arise going forward.

Every year I have to get mine and my fathers taxes done. My father is an American citizen but lives in Europe which makes his taxes more complicated and when I go to CPA's to get his taxes done they are usually done incorrectly, sometimes laughably wrong. I have had many issues with bad CPA or tax firms and it is a relief to have found Newman & Company.

I came to Newman & Company with a big mess. I had to amend 3 years of taxes with foreign statements that were near illegible, in Spanish, off print-screens not formatted nicely, and it was just a nightmare we had a lot of things to fix. There were 5 accounts per year and the few people I had spoken to previous to them (a tax lawyer, and a couple other CPA's) told me i'm in big trouble as there was A LOT of things done wrong previously like undeclared income, FBARs, etc... and this was not going to be easy to fix with the paperwork we had.

Adam at the firm was the CPA handling my situation and he was fantastic. Mr Newman also met with me any time I came in to see Adam. Not only did they clear my mess up in a little over a week, but I attribute the reason for their ending my tax nightmare so quickly to the fact that on almost a daily basis I had an e-mail from Adam informing me of how things were coming along, or letting me know what he needed, and if I had a question it was usually responded to within one or two hours. One evening I emailed Adam around 11pm and i had a response at 7 or 8 am - I couldn't believe he was already in his office responding to me that early in the morning as if he had nothing better to do when he first got to work than respond to my e-mail!

Adam even set up a login for me so I could upload files safely (protecting our identity) directly to their computer system as I did not have any software to password lock any files I needed to get them. From the very beginning this company had exceptional customer service and the employees were attentive to me. I have found at other firms in the Cleveland area the customer service is much much worse, as well as the quality.

In the end when I got the bill they had reduced the hourly price we originally agreed to because the final price went over the original estimate. They also applied a coupon (apparently there is a 10% off Angies list coupon I was unaware of.) WOW! Who does that these days?

Not only is this firm extremely competent as they were able to so quickly and correctly fix my mess, but this is an honest company that really gives you the feeling they care about their clients which for me is priceless as I have been through hell and back with firms that had extremely poor customer service since i am not a big corporate account. I Highly recommend this firm!

Newman's CPAs are world class! I came to them needing help with my girlfriends taxes, she has multiple federal college loans from OSU Veterinary school totaling over 200,000.  Steve and Liz are so amazing they caught a mistake made on a previous years return and got her an additional 1800.00 in an interest error. This is her second year with Newman CPAs and unfortunately for them they are stuck with us for life. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for, Steve and Liz exceeded my expectations! thank you  so much.

Taxes made simple. These guys made everything with our 2014 return crystal clear and we felt extremely comfortable with how they handled the process. We'll definitely be back.

Excellent experience. He has managed our taxes for a couple decades. He provides excellent service. I had some issues with the IRS a few years back and he handled it and completely solved the problem. We refer others to him as well. He is a great accountant and understands tax law. Great to work with!

I've been working with Steve Newman for 5 or 6 years now.  His services are excellent and it's easy to feel like I'm his only client.  He meets with me personally each year.  He and his staff are always prompt to reply to messages, even on weekends when I would be perfectly happy to wait until Monday.  It's been a terrific experience working with him.

The quality of the work was good. We did moved during the year and therefore had returns for 2 states. Otherwise no complications, however. I think the price for the service was excessive. 
Note that I was told this company will be changing their billing system for next year.
