NAGY'S HARDWOOD FLOORS

Came with co-worker to re-do all floors in large home. Seemed punctual at first and things appeared to be going well initially. He was overall difficult to get a hold of on the phone. The price was fair based on three quotes I received. He never returned to complete unfinished work despite being paid in full. Now we have an unfinished floor in a closet of one room and unmoved staples from the old carpet he said he would remove. Slightly sloppy with the stain, noticed it later on on paint. There was a point in the job when he did not show up for three days. He said he was sick, but all he had to do was call me. He just decided to return to work and that is how I was able to get a hold of him. Clearly more work on my end than I wanted!

Excessive debris trapped in poly coat after last coat: bristles, fibers, bubbles, dirt and paint chippings from baseboards. When called to repair this condition they unilaterally decided to fix only isolated spots when in fact problem was throughout floor. The repair left serious scoring around the spots and the repair coat did not blend, making it worse than it was before. Damaged baseboard and mahogany trim around fireplace without telling me. Damaged one door and one frame trim during door removal without telling. Left dripped polyurethane on kitchen linoleum: impossible to remove now without damaging floor. Did not fill all nail holes and gaps as they said they would (only filled a fraction of all holes and gaps). Dust from sanding was acceptable.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS EXCELLENT. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND NAGY'S HARDWOOD FLOORS TO ANYONE WHO HAS HARDWOOD FLOORS THAT NEED TO BE REFINISHED.

WE ORIGINALLY DECIDED ON A GLUE DOWN METHOD, BUT AFTER A FEW HOURS IT WAS CLEAR THE GLUE WASN'T HOLDING. MR. NAGY QUICKLY SUGGESTED A PLYWOOD SUB FLOOR AND A STAPLE DOWN INSTALLATION, AND HE DIDN'T CHARGE EXTRA FOR THE LABOR TO INSTALL THE PLYWOOD. A TRUE HONEST CRAFTSMAN WHO FELT BAD ABOUT THE MIX UP AND WANTED TO KEEP CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL ESTIMATE. (WHICH WAS 1$/SQ. FT. CHEAPER THAN 2 OTHERS I RECEIVED, BY THE WAY).

DOES NOT RETURN PHONE CALLS. STILL HAS KEY TO MEMBERS HOME AND HASNT FINISHED JOB. REMOVED A DOOR AND NEVER REPLACED IT. CHARGED FOR REMOVING CARPET AND THEN LEFT IT ON FRONT PORCH. LEFT HOUSE EXTREMELY MESSY. KNICKED TRIM WORK. HE IS VERY HARD TO GET A HOLD OF AND TO COMMUNICATE WITH.
