2 of them came out at first to look at the issue. I informed them that my tub was leaking and that it is causing water in my basement.
They ran the water lightly for a little and said he didn't see any leaking water. I informed them it takes a few minutes before you notice it and sure enough after running the water for bit longer you could see a steady drip of water in the basement. He told me they just need to tighten the drain most likely and that he could either do it for $95 or he would charge $45 just for showing up essentially. He wasn't even sure that tightening the drain would fix the issue but said it is worth a shot.
At this point he has not done any work and has not really inspected anything to be sure of what the issue was.
I asked him if they did free estimates but he would not answer and kept repeating that it will be $45 for just coming out, although this was not stated or hinted at before hand. So after all this I said go ahead and do it since I'm going to be charged something regardless so they spent 5 minutes just tightening the drain cover and nothing else.
Right after they fixed it he saw some drops still coming down but said that was water still lingering from when it was leaking but it should be good now. After all that there still is some dripping water in the basement.
So at the end of the day I spent $100 to tighten a drain cover which did not fully resolve the issue. The one positive I can come out of it was that he was quick to respond to my call and was on time for the appointment but for the price and quality I wouldn't go back.

They showed up and spent 2 days in my basement struggling with a job they misjudged.  They cut the wrong pipe leaving mw with an unsightly group of pipes which they drilled through the woodwork hidden as best they could along the ceiling.  Had they thought about it they might have cut the correct pipe.  They had water all over my basement.  Then they charged me the most they could but they did the worst job i could have imagined.  In addition they rerouted the valves and did not place them in a neat positioning but rather randomly so they look very messy.

Overall - I give "Main" Man Plumbing (Stan) a "F" Stan does not return phone calls to correct problems, overpriced, use questionable parts, bills do not include cost of materials. Trip lever on right side of toliet w/hole in lid and scrapping on bowl - I told him I was not happy with installation and wanted to have him at least to replace the top where the hole is. Stan told me he would check with supplier - not a problem. I have check with plumbing companies and Home Depot - this is where i wanted the toilet to be purchased. Stan was overpriced- I called his supplier and looked on line and the toilet base was $81.00 if I purchased. Home Depots toilet was $198.00+139.00 for installation=$337.+tax. Stan also put a basket over the hole of the top of toilet so I did not see the hole until I moved the basket. I talking calling many plumbers and seeing first had at Home Depot, the hole in the top is used for "hand touched" toliets and the trip lever on the right side is used for tight spaces. NONE OF THIS APPLIES TO MY BATHROOM. Stan never returned my calls and i was out of town for a month with ability to receive phone calls. Stan addressed the 5/10/10 toilet which was rocky by putting shimms in. i have used Stan five times in the last three years and I never asked for a material/parts receipt because I trusted this guy - NO MORE!

My basement was flooded after snow started melting in the spring. Stan knew exactly what the problem was and told me he would try to snake the main drain. He was very realistic about what to expect. He said there was a good chance the blockage was too far. The plumber that came the next day had a big machine and was finished in ten minutes.

He reinstalled the toilets and they were both missing a gasket. He never put the spacer back in between the tank and the bowl, to straighten it out. He put the gasket in the main part, and left out the other one, leaving it crooked, and very close to the wall. On the bolts, the washers were rusted, and he put them back on. I was trying to get him to finish the job with those small things. On one of them, he couldn't get a bolt off, so he was unable to put a new wax ring on one toilet, but he did on the other. The main thing I'm upset about is the spacer and the washers on the floor. I called him the next day, he said he ordered the parts. He later told me they were sold. He was to come out today, and he never showed up. He seems like he is a nice, reasonable guy, but he never comes through. They did resolve the problem, but I had some trouble with them coming on time and it took a long time to resolve the problem.

I called Main Man Plumbing at approximately 9:00am on Monday, 08/10/2009. I told Stan the problem, "We have ancient plumbing. The fawcets for the bathtub, including the drain, don't work well (the cold handle was nonexistent) and now the shower barely gave us a trickle of water. Stan said he would be out the same day at approximately 4:00pm. He showed up on time, and convinced me NOT to mess with the old plumbing, but rather replace the stem on the shower valve and replace the hardware on the fawcet handles. He said he would return the next morning. He did! He arrived about 9:30am on Tuesday. He replaced the shower stem and took parts of the old handles to buy replacements. I requested he also pick up a new shower head to replace the old one. He went and bought the parts, returned, and installed everything. He was done before noon. We now have a shower that works, hot and cold running water in the tub, and a drain that's easy to manipulate.

I was very pleased, as my own snaking efforts had failed, and it did not turn into a major project.

I purchased a foreclosed home that had copper pipes stolen from it. Stan, the owner, had done some basic plumbing at my other house in years past (snake drains, etc.). I got a quote, felt comfortable with his work as he was doing it himself. I also felt safe with him in my home while I was not there. He did the work over a month period and was very flexible with the ups and downs of other construction projects going on in tandem. Everything was great with the exception of a problem later discovered being my shower stall was not level. He did have trouble with the new shower doors and now I know why, the floor was not level (old house), but the shower stall should have been installed on a level floor that he should have checked and fixed. I know had I complained he would have fixed it, but I never did because he did a lot of work for very little money. There were lots of little projects that came up and he didn't adjust the original quote to get the extras done.

I cannot really rate the quality of his work, since it seemed to be a temporary fix the first time he snaked the drain.

Stan's service is excellent. He returns calls promptly. Came out to give an estimate and was on time. Made arrangements for work to be done, day the work was to be done was given a call 1 hour ahead of scheduled arrival that he was running late. Made arrangements to reschedule work for 1st thing next business day. Stan and his employee arrived on time, were very quick and efficient! Charged exactly what estimate stated. An excellent experience by a licensed professional!

I had never had to hire a plumber before and was very concerned about being "taken", even though I knew what had to be done. But I put my trust in Angie's List and was very pleased. I actually had to call about 10 plumbers because I needed same day service, and so I hired Main Man because he could come out that day. He was also very pleased that my call to him was a result of Angie's List.

The day the work was performed, we had a horrible rain storm. I felt bad for the crew, but they continued to work, even when a wall collapsed in the trench. Unfortunately, the rain saturated the ground and the backhoe kept sinking in my lawn, so they weren't able to fill the trench very well. I would have thought that because the rain was out of our control, that they would come back and fill in the trench. They didn't and I had to spend a week doing it myself. They also shattered 2 slabs of my sidewalk. I informed Rich and within 1 week, they had been out and replaced the slabs. I think the crew did as best they could considering the weather. But was disappointed that they didn't even offer to come back to properly finish the job. I know you can't control the weather, but they should have offered to come back. Especially, since I specifically asked them what happens if it rains. Other than that, I thought they did a good job.

I was very satisfied with the work and the company's timeliness. They were at my house within 2 hours from when I placed the call. I found their price very reasonable even though I was charged extra for living in Lorain county. I had similar work done from a company in Lorain county and was charged over $300. I would definitely use this company again.
