Neal provided estimate.  Made great suggestions.  He was willing to make adjustments to meet our budget.  Workers were professional, courteous and thorough in their cleaning.  Work was performed in a timely manner.  We are very pleased with the results.  Would use them again.

They did the job really well.  Bill, the owner, was personable and easy to work with.  Everything came in line and fair.  I plan on using them again in the spring.

When I intially contacted the company, I was able to speak with the owner, Bill Lanhan, directly to discuss my expecatations as a customer.  I was very honest & told him I was looking for a company that does excellent work & offers a "personal" touch to their residential customers as I am very particular.  The season started off on a postive note & I felt the "regular" crew that provided the weekly maintenance did a fantastic job all season.  However, on the two separate occasions they were forced to send another crew to fill in, the work was poor at best.  They had no regard for my property & seemed to be in a hurry!  In fact, on one occasion, the alernate crew damaged my neighbors landscaping & Bill Lanhan had to reimburse my neighbor for the damage.  They did in fact reimburse my neighbor, however they made me feel as if I was inconveniencing them with the issue.  When I initially signed up for the contract, to receive a reduced rate on the weekly maintenance, I promised Bill Lanhan that I would hire them to mulch my beds. I am not exaggerating, I had to call them 5 or 6 times to finally do the work & when they finally came out it was almost August, Memorial Day & Independence Day had come & gone, typically when you would like to have the work done by to entertain guests.  On top of that, they sent me a bill for almost $700 to perform the work!  The past two times I have had another organization mulch my beds, it has not cost more than $400.  I will say they did a very good job but what upsets me most is that I do not feel I received the value I deserved for the price I had to pay. The $700 would not have bothered me so much except I was only able to enjoy the new mulch for about 2 - 3 months because when landscaping companies do their fall clean ups a lot of the mulch ends up in your yard & you are forced to mulch again the following year.  I will accept some responsibility because as a customer I should have asked for a quote before agreeing to have the worked perform.  THEN comes fall clean up.  They were only on my property twice this fall & did a horrible job!  I had to continually call them to see if they were going to show up.  After several calls, a crew finally came out on Nov 21, just before Thanksgiving to clean up my property.  When I returned home from work, my property was in worse shape after they had left. I immediatley called & spoke with someone in the office & they told me they did not know if they could have someone return due to the fact they were laying everyone off except for the full-time staff that day.  I was told I would be contacted once they had an idea of when they would return, I never received that call.  The next morning, I was forced to clean my siding & driveway & clean up the remainder of the mulch & leaves that was left behind. In addition they charged me more for the final visit to clean up my property than they did two weeks prior when the leaves were 10X's as bad.  I finally received the bill & there was note suggesting they had sent someone over to my property the following day to inspect the work I had complained about & the property looked fine.  The reason the property looked fine is because I had spent 3 hours the following morning cleaning up their mess prior to someone returning to my property to inspect it.  I would have waited to show them how bad the work was performed if I would have received a follow up call explaining someone would be visiting my property the following day but I never received that call & it needed to be cleaned up before the snow storm arived otherwise I feared it would not get done.  I contacted the office to dicuss my bill & was hoping to discuss my disappointment with Bill Lanhan, however I never received a return call from him.  I sent the following email on Dec 11, 2013:
"Bill -
I spoke to Lori in your office; however I do not feel she is responsible for the services your company provided this season.  I would like to discuss with you the services that were provided this fall as I do not feel they were up to the standards you committed to earlier this year.  The regular crew did a fantasic job all season long; however on the two separate occoasions another crew filled in the work was poor at best.
I look forward to your phone call."
I never received a phone call back which prompted me to write this review & have come to the conclusion that this organization is only focused on high end clientele & will be seeking services from another organization next year.

The crew worked with stunning efficiency to remake the yard in the course of one week. They were responsive to comments and fastidious in cleaning the great amount of debris each day. This was not cheap, but in this kind of work, you get what you pay for, and we feel it was money well spent for an entirely new backyard. Neal was our contact, and he was accurate in every step about the timing and the planning.

Everything looks BEAUTIFUL!  We cannot tell you how knowledgable and talented these guys are.  Worked quickly and thoroughly and did an absolutely wonderful job.  We already lined up more work with them this summer and will continue to use them down the line.

Working with Lanham Landscaping and Design is an absolute pleasure. Neal really listened to our wishes for creating a new patio and landscape behind our home where an old garage had recently been demolished. Taking our preferences into account, Neal created a beautiful design and explained the process to us in detail. His crew was incredibly professional and hard-working! They completed the job quickly and efficiently but with remarkable attention to quality. Our new patio and landscape in the back (as well as the front landscape which they revamped) are absolutely beautiful! Neal actually continues to check in with us and stops by to check on the newly planted landscape and to answer questions and offer his experience on how to best take care of our new landscape. We are so pleased that we chose to work with Lanhan Landscaping and would recommend to anyone looking for a team of true professionals who truly take pride in their work and stand behind it. Neal discussed budget with us from the very beginning, and the final price for the job was in line with what we expected , no surprises.

When we moved into our house, the prior owners had just had the drain tile surrounding the house completely replaced. Unfortunately, the company went out of business, and didn?t complete fixing the trough around the house. They just threw chunks of clay and debris in the trough and threw some dirt over it. After battling the yard for 26 years ? trying every landscape option we could come up with ourselves, from bushes to perennials to grasses to evergreens to annuals ? we gave up.
Time to call in the experts. We met with three A-rated Angie?s List companies last spring to talk about redesigning and landscaping the whole yard. All three had great ideas but Neal Goldweber at Lanhan stood out ? for comprehensive design and willingness to work with us around our ideas and budget. We take a long time to make up our minds ? being very picky and wanting to research options extensively. We were also trying to decide whether to do the entire project at one time or do it in steps. We were so pleased with Neal?s design and plant choices, and the quote was so reasonable, that we decided to do the entire project.
But we had run out the clock because by the time we finalized everything it was high summer ? very hot for starting a new lawn and too late to plant. Then we decided not to plant in the fall because the front of  the house, which had overgrown bushes, two small trees and large ornamental grass, would have been denuded all winter. So we waited.
In February or so, Neal contacted us to finalize and upon his advice, we looked carefully at the location of the patio, changed it and increased the size. Excellent calls all the way around.
The crew that came out to do the work ? which took three days ? were great. Every night they cleaned up completely and removed all debris. Neal checked in all the time and amended the patio design for us at the last minute. He was willing to go the extra mile every time and we are just now seeing things bud out. Exciting! And we are thrilled.

They do a lot of work for our community.  They charge $75 for a lawn cut and the spring cleanup was contracted on the amount of work they are supposed to do.  They charge an hourly rate for their help and materials so it varies but it seems fair to me.  They are prompt and come as promised, promptly.  They do a good job and the help is well supervised.  They are fine.  They come in and do their job so I don’t have an issue with them stepping over the boundary or anything like that.  Their work looks okay too.

During the planning and design stage of the deck and pergola, Neil Goldweber consulted with us at our home on two or three occasions about hard and soft scape options to compliment our new proposed deck and pergola. His ideas were thoughtful, helpful and exciting!  Well, when we finished the deck and pergola, the Lanhan crew arrived promptly to create the new planting bed surround around the new deck, install the new custom-cut large stone steps, planting beds, rose bushes, Wisteria, box woods, and other plantings.  The result, as noted above has been and is absolutely terrific.  In fact, they even enhanced a wonderfully revitalized bed using a collection of flat rocks and stones that we had accumulated and with the addition of rich, black organic mulch, the bed has never looked so good.  We never imagined that the bed could look so nice!!!   The Lanhan crews have been just great, very considerate and hard-working to be sure.  Without question, they worked extremely hard to be sure that we were pleased...and we certainly are.  In fact, we will hire them again this spring just to spruce the beds and eliminate the ravages of winter. Perhaps you can tell that we'd hire Neal Goldweber and Lanhan Landscaping and Design again in a heartbeat!

I was pleasantly surprised about how easy the whole process went.  Neil made it easy for me.  The crew was the hardest bunch of guys I have ever met.  My back yard was a mess, neglected, and over run by our dogs.  Needed to be regraded, and had at least one if not two huge dump trucks filled with debris.  They did a wonderful job. Even after the terrible wet fall we had, there was very little standing water.   I am looking forward to a beautiful spring.

In the end we felt very pleased with the results. It has been 2 1/2 years since the plantings and everything has filled in beautifully. Our neighbors and friends marvel at the landscaping and we get so much enjoyment out of it. Not only that, Goldweber comes to our house and continues to consult us on maintenance and planning issues free of charge. I highly recommend Neal and his company and will continue to use him in the future.

I recently had a new garage built on my property and needed a walkway to the side door. I also had pavers that I wanted to use to construct this walkway. Lanhan's crew came in while my wife and I were on vacation and created a very nice landscaped walkway. We were very satisfied with the work they did.  The only concern I had was with the tax added after we agreed on a price.  I think the tax should have been included in the overall price. This would not prevent me from using Lanhan landscaping services in the future because of the quality of work preformed. 

The overall experience was great. Lanhan was the only contractor that offered to put down top soil over  the existing clay soil. Neil came out to the house multiple times to discuss options and made sure he was able to speak to both myself and my wife. He offered different option and was able to work with some of my ideas. The main difference in the higher cost then other contractors was the cost of laying 2 inches of topsoil over the entire lawn.
I have already scheduled Lanhan to come back in the spring to add plantings to the new beds they installed on the side and back of the home.

We had a bit of a hard time with the start date, but that was partly our fault as we were trying to get our driveway re-done at the same time and didn't want heavy trucks on a brand new driveway before it had time to cure.  We had some ideas, fix fountain and re-set some pavers, but asked for their advice in terms of improving the look of neglected back yard.  They gave us an estimate with many different choices that we could make to tailor our desires to our costs.  They started on time and worked very hard over 4 days to transform our back yard.  They were working in the dry part of the summer so couldn't do everything they wanted.  But we are very happy with the work they have done, and plan on to continue to use them to make our back yard even nicer.
