The whole process was great from start to finish. The work was completed as discussed, on time, and on budget. The owner Mark and crew were very knowledgeable and friendly. They cleaned up the work area at completion of the job. We love our new patio and couldn't be happier with the end result.

Impressive! Day one: Tear out using heavy mechanized equipment. Lift and truck away. Day two: Framed and leveled with crushed limestone. Day three: Poured and brush finished driveway and walkways. Day four: Scored and sealed. Man-hours each day varied depending on the job. Clearly the job was well planned.

These guys were tremendous. Great work at a fair price.
I am scheduling them back to do more work.

This was the worst experience I have ever had with a contractor.    
The issues:
- originally when they laid out the framing for the patio, I could see that they were not making it as large as had been discussed and quoted.   When I brought this to Mark's attention it was corrected.    No big deal except for everything that followed.  
- The patio that was being replaced had a section of fencing attached at the top of a wall.  (the patio is on a steep slope)   As the crew was leaving, the fencing was laying in the back yard.    I asked if they were going to put it back up.   Mark sounded appalled!   He said, "we are cement guys; we don't do that."     He kept repeating this.    I asked why I was only hearing about it at that time.    In my past experiences, contractors restored things to the way they found them.  After discussion and my agreement to pay extra, Mark agreed to have it put back.   
- On either side of my front walkway there are planting beds with small paver walls.   They pulled out some of the pavers and were leaving with the wall not put back in place and a small pile of pavers nearby.     One person came back on the last day to do finish work and I asked him to put the wall back together.   He found there were not enough pavers.   So the bed was left with a section that was missing wall and had the impressions in the dirt from where pavers used to be.      When I contacted Mark about this he insulted me and again said it was not their responsibility.      After threatening to take him to small claims court, I got a call from a friend of his who said he would come out and fix the wall.   He came out and attempted to fix the wall, but he used pavers that are not the same color or size of the rest of the wall.
- The front walkway now has fewer steps than it used to have and fewer steps than originally quoted.    As a result, the steps are not level.     This work failed inspection by the city.  Hudecek provided a refund for the front walkway and steps.    
- In order to get their equipment to my back yard, they drove through planting beds.   They pulled out shrubs and perennials and never put them back when they were done.    The need for this was never discussed.       
- In all of the pictures on their website where steps are shown, the steps looked like the risers are stamped.    My steps did not have this done.   When I asked about it, Mark said they don't do that anymore.     He  had told me to look at their website to pick out the pattern and colors I wanted.    I think if they no longer take the time to do that, it should have been mentioned.      
- They left a lot of trash.    This included pop/water bottles and an empty can of chewing tobacco.    They also left a lot of loose cement and nails/screws.   Even the city inspectors were picking up the nails/screws.    We have so far picked up about 200 of them.
- There are a few areas where the concrete does not show the stamped pattern.   The most significant of these is at the very front of the walkway where it meets the driveway.     
- I asked for the border of the walkways and patio to be a dark grey color.    In a few areas it is dark grey, but it is mostly red (the color of the main section).   
- The worst part about all of it was the way that Mark spoke to me.    He repeatedly spoke to me in an unprofessional manner and said degrading things.

Fantastic! Definitely recommend!! Mark and his crew were very professional. Mark stays in contact and was very responsive to questions. Crew did a great job cleaning up after themselves. Absolutely love the quality of my patio!!

It was excellent.  The workers were on time, extremely professional and cleaned up everything prior to leaving.  It exceeds my expectations.

They took my sink for measurements after doing templates for the counter tops. They ripped the aluminum on the top of the sink. None of the seams sink up. The bottom of the counter tops were never smoothed out and have rough serrated edges. They never caulked or shimmed the counter tops which was supposed to be part of it. There are a lot of blotches. He came back to fix that and said he needed another tool to do it and never came back. I called the owner and he said he had a back injury and he hired out another guy which we never approved of. He then said he had nothing to do with this and never told us that he was going to sub this job out. He didn't physically install the counter tops which was agreed upon and is now washing his hands of the whole job.

They did a pretty good job overall. They're friendly and it's a father-son operation. They're prompt and the work was described. I think the only complaint I only had is that they're a little bit sloppy but it wasn't a major problem. They were on the site for 3 and half days and they have the best price in the area. The only disappointing thing was that they're a little bit messy but given the price, I would use them again.

Mark and his staff were a pleasure to work with. He kept in contact with me the week before noting his plans that would coincide with the weather conditions. He had a very hard working staff and he worked right along with them all the time. They were considerate, efficient and  careful.  Mark clearly had it well planned; they started when they said they would, people arrived on other days when they said they would. Mark was always available via email to respond to any questions I had. The team has a great work ethic. I give them high praise and a very strong recommendation.

Patio

I signed for this work 6/5/13..It was end of August before work was begun...I understand the rain etc weather related problems but feel that It was a long time to wait....That is however, not the issue here... They arrived and proceeded to dig up the areas for the walkways....We went over the details with Mark Hudecek at that time....Before work had begun that day....
I was to have a 4-5" circle on a large area of the stamped concrete .....We discussed how large etc the circle was to be...
later that day we realized that he had not installed the circle at all!!  Upon speaking to Mark Hudecek he advised me that HE decided this would not look good....No phone call to state this fact or any contact with me....I advised him that it was not his decision to make it was mine....I am the customer and paying for what I wanted....After a discussion on this he said he could "cut" the circle into the concrete...No Thanks!!!  That is not what I had wanted...
My yard look terrible....There was no cleanup scheduled to remove all the clumps of grass & roots that his men had dug up during the excavation....I guess I was supposed to pay to have another party fix it!!
the concrete man cleaned his things with water and poured onto my Pear Tree in the front treelawn... Overall , this is one of the worst experiences I have had with a Company....
Mark did come back and clean up and put down top soil on all the areas that were dug up...this was to make me "happy"....I am glad that he did that but the overall work and communicatin was lacking to say the least.....
After it was stained and the sealer put down it looked as though the sealer was not put on evenly or not enough sealer..Areas are shiny and others are dull and feel rough....I had asked Mark Hudecek about the coloration which now appears to be kind of a washed out red...Not at all like the pictures he shows on his brochres...
I wish he would have come out to my home and addressed these issues in person as they were happening...All was done by e-mail...

Punctual, constant communication throughout the process and schedule. professional and courteous. Best price of three estimates.

The patio turned out great.  We were unsure of how the final look and coloring would be, but are very happy with the results.  Mark communicated regularly with us as to when he and his crew would be out to work on the patio.  We liked that Mark the owner was on-site directing the crew personally.  He also took care of all the building permit and inspection issues with the City of Aurora.  They excavated and set the forms, gravel, and wire mesh one day, then came back a second day to pour, stamp, and color the patio.  The following week they cleaned the back of the house (which was very dirty from all the dust) and patio and sealed the concrete.  Mark was great to work with from the beginning.  He was prompt in coming out for an estimate, showed us examples of his work, provided references (we visited one of his recent projects in person), and quoted us a fair price for the work, then executed on the time-lined we agreed.  The only minor issue we noticed was that even after they power washed we still need to do some clean-up on the siding and windows by the patio from all the concrete dust to remove the residue and some smudges, which we hope won't be too difficult. 
We contacted 3 other concrete companies to bid on the job and Mark came in very competitively, but his customer service, knowledge and friendly attitude sold us on using him.  We would use him again for any future concrete projects and recommend him highly to others.  The project went very smoothly and we are very happy with the final results.

Mark and his team are consummate professionals and h*** of a good group of guys.  Mark and his team helped out after a failed attempt at a new patio with another contractor.  He provided a quote, scheduled the work and completed as contracted.  He had to follow some fairly intricate plans from our architect and did this to specification.  We requested specific finish details in our stairs and on our circular fire-pit, which his team hand troweled like true craftsman.  Our patio is a thing of beauty and the envy of our neighbors.  At less than a year old we consistently get many compliments from family and friends.  I have and will continue to refer work to Mark and his team, he comes with my highest recommendation.

They got in here and got right down to business.  During the first day, they prepped the entire driveway and excavated the back yard, getting everything ready to pour.  They moved our hot tub (which we had emptied and disconnected ahead of time) out of the way for them to work.  They poured the entire patio, sidewalk, and driveway in one day, and their price included sealant and the drain.  The stamped concrete patio and sidewalk is amazing and the driveway looks spectacular.  Each day they worked on our property, they showed up with an army of workers and were always punctual.  They were also very courteous - for example they had to dig into one of our garden beds to pour the driveway and rather than demolish what was there, they carefully dug out and moved the plants that were in the way.  We could not be happier with the quality of the work performed, the hard work they performed, or their punctuality and courtesy of everyone.  We did have to wait sometimes for return phone calls, but we are certain that it was due to nothing less than them being extremely busy during the season and when weather permits. We would never consider using another cement contractor.

Mark bailed us out of a bad situation with another vendor how abandoned the job sited once they knew they were in over their heads. Mark was easy to work with and immediately established his credentials as well as new found confidence for my wife and I.  I am so glad the our first vendor abandoned the site, sometimes things happen for a reason.  Mark and his team immediately fixed the site and exceeded our expectations for our patio and fire pit.  He also fixed the grading in my back yard that was destroyed by said previous vendor, not because it was in the contract, but b/c it was the right thing to do.  He has earned my highest recommendation and I am proud to have his work on display in my backyard.  The craftsmanship is top notch, from the pour, the color and the hand chiseled details on the brick facing on my stairs and on the circle around our fire pit.

I love the patio.  They did a wonderful job.  All of the people were wonderful.  They did a beautiful job.  We just love the new patio. They were excellent.

Mark and crew arrived each day as scheduled. They worked diligently and carefully. They encountered some problems with grinding but didn't give up. Managed the challenges with a smile and committment. They provided after project service as well with a few things I needed completed. All in all, they did a great job, each staff member was courteous and responsive and I would recommend Hudecek without hesitation.

All the work went well.  We told them how we wanted it poured against existing structures and a fence.  They did it as we instructed.  We gave them a sketchy idea of the design and they did an excellent job of completing it in an artistic way.  They did a good job of working around the wet weather that we have been having and they carefully avoided any damage to my lawn.  We highly recommend them.

      The company was prompt in coming to the house to give an estimate of the work, and the final price did not change from the first estimate. We were called and messages were left giving us dates for the job start, which was weather dependent. When we returned those calls with questions or concerns our calls were returned, but not usually for a few days. Work did begin on an agreed upon date and the job took 2 days to complete. Most of the work was done on the first day. Work done on the second day included sealing the walk and stoop, and cleaning up of the job site. We are happy with the way the walk and stoop have turned out. A co-worker of mine who has seen the walk has already asked me for the companies name and phone number.  
    The only thing we are dissatisfied with was the clean up of the job site. It was very unprofessional. The house was left with marked with filthy fingerprints and a good sized area of discoloration from the powdered color coating used on the walk. We have tried to scrub off the residue left with no success. Another area of the house that was cleaned with a pressure sprayer by the clean up person, had areas of paint taken off. The person sealing the walk and doing clean up left the job at the end of the day without coming to the door to say he had finished. We did not have the opportunity to ask questions such as "When can we use the walk?", or inspect the job before he left. During the application of color to the walk on the first day of the work, my wife had noticed much of it had gotten on the house and asked the crew about clean up since the house had just been painted last fall. She was assured that this would be taken care of. It was not. Now we are left with repainting this section of the house.  
     In summary, the walk looks good and was done for the agreed upon price on the agreed upon dates. Clean up was very unprofessional, will end up costing us to finish, and is the reason for the "F" rating in professionalism.
     
     
    
     
    
  

Our experience was outstanding. Julie, who coordinated the job, was very personable and professional. Will, who came to our home for the estimate was very friendly and knowledgeable. He spent a substantial amount of time with me answering my questions, giving me color and style options, and provided me with a good understanding of the entire process. The first step was tearing down the existing deck. What a job. It was done quickly and efficiently. Next was preparing the area for the cement patio. Once again, they were very helpful in layout and design. They were very concerned about every detail. The pouring and stamping of the patio went very well. There were no problems and the crew worked hard and efficiently. In addition, as we had questions or concerns, they were always answered and explained thoroughly so that we had a good understanding. My only suggestion has to do with the clean-up. I did not realize the enormous amount of dust and dirt that this job would create. I wish i would have been advised to protect and cover the surrounding area. For example, the pool heater and filter and air conditioning unit were completely filled with dust - very hard to clean. Other than that, the job was done perfectly. I highly recommend Will, Marc, Julie, Dad and the entire crew. If I know of any one looking for a cement contractor or if I need future work done, I would look no further than Hudecek Cement.

Everything went great. They were very professional and there was a great crew of guys that worked with me and helped with the design.

Mark Hudecek was receptive to all of my questions and checked with me several times throughout the process to make decisions and/or ensure the course of action they were taking was to my liking.
