Service was excellent from initial point of contact, to discussing the job with an estimator and ultimately to the work performed. When crew showed up at 7AM on the day scheduled, I walked around the property with the foreman to discuss my concerns. I asked him to be particularly careful at our concrete patio and garage floor transition to the asphalt. He said he is particularly careful in everything the crew does. At that point, I knew we selected the right company. And he was true to his word. The driveway resurfacing came out completely as planned and looked fantastic. I should also mention that our driveway was fairly narrow and the equipment which Holland used just barely fit, but they made it work without incident. I would hire Holland Paving again in a heart beat.

Company was very responsive and did exactly the work they said they would. One little mistake, that actually worked out to my benefit. I needed the driveway at my rental property sealed 1 year after it was repaired (as recommended by them). They accidentally sealed the driveway at my billing address rather than the service address. They corrected their mistake and did not charge me for the service at the wrong address. There was no fuss resolving this issue, and they immediately apologized and did the work at the proper address the following day. The finished product looked very good, and I would definitely hire them again.

It was very good. They didn't even wait for me to pay them. They did the job, and left. I asked when do you want me to pay you, they just said to send it in. It was an great place, I had to have asphalt done with the city. Another company wanted to charge 3500, the inspector wanted to seal the cracks. They came out and worked, and they were gone. These guys were great. They did a great job, and I was pleased with that. Perfect. They even went on the internet and looked at my property, and they knew the price, before they even came out. They came and did it, and it was done. They are quick, and they do not do anything extra. They do what they say they are going to do. They are not after any extra money. It took them about an couple hours, and you don't drive on it for a couple of days.

I was very disappointed. I got 4 estimates, had them double-checked and vetted, and Holland was who I chose to go with. At first, the issue was with the delays. They originally scheduled my job for late August, but finally got to it in October. I feel like they over-extended themselves, and probably should have turned down the job right up front. I would have appreciated it. When they finally got going on the job, they told me it would require more material than they originally anticipated. They offered to swallow the cost on that, as they should've. The job they did was sloppy, with globs of sticky sealcoating here and there, and valleys in the asphalt. To say the least, this experience left a lot to be desired. The scheduler (her name might have Joan) was the only bright spot of this whole.

Outstanding, repair involved laying new asphalt along entire right side of driveway, apron and where there were horrendous potholes. About a week after asphalt put down, they came out and applied sealer to the old sections. Drive looks great. Tom Holland is a first class person to deal with. I was blessed to find this company and have them do the work.

Horrible. Will not stand behind their work. Rain water ow flows towards house and puddles. Told me when I complained that they would charge more than twice as much more to fix a problem they created than the original cost. Told me to read my contract and buyer beware is Ohio law! How could they have won a service award!
Response from Holland Paving

The actual job was well done. The customer service surrounding it was not very good. The salesman was nice, but once the job was on their list it got bounced around with little explanation. The person answering the phone was curt to say the least. I actually requested a meeting with the owner who actually raised his voice early in the meeting...he kept saying the job is done right, right...yes but the unmade phone calls, the scheduling difficulty the rudeness of his office staff was something I thought he should hear about. Turns out they are really a reflection of the culture of the business.$
Response from Holland Paving
"We are extremely happy that the job was installed correctly, not only to the homeowner but to the city as well. The Building department made some changes which did cause disruption of the scheduling. I understand phone calls were made to one of the owners; however it was later stated this was not the right person to call. Our office is very busy, high volumes of calls come in daily and schedules need to be flexible for changes in weather and building codes. Sometimes this is frustrating and difficult to work through for property owners and construction business owners alike. We try to treat each client as if they are the only one. We do our best."

This company is completely unethical. I secured two estimates and paid a 40% deposit on each driveway. They continually delayed the scheduling of the work by never returning my calls. When they finally agreed to schedule the work they reneged on sealcoating the portion of the driveway that extended into the garage. I am a lawyer so they did promptly refund the deposits upon threat of legal action.
Response from Holland Paving
"Holland Paving always puts our agreements in writing; regardless of the homeowner's statue, this helps everyone understand what will be performed on the job sites. We also explain very carefully what the products can do and the intended use. Asphalt is not an authorized material in most garages throughout our region and it is not our policy to proceed with unauthorized work ethics. We are held accountable by the city building departments. If the homeowner allows us, we are happy to meet with inspectors to get permission for a procedure that is normally not allowed."

Not well. The initial patch looked inconsistent and I held back approximately 25% of the total bill on the promise that the work would be repaired in 2016 (work was performed in the fall of 2015). The representative of Holland Paving I had been working with in 2015 informed me via email that the owner stood by his company's work and that Holland's sub-par work would be repaired in 2016. When I called Holland Paving in the late spring, I found that the employee I had been working with was no longer with the company. However, I wasn't concerned as I had an email chain and a clearly sub-par work product as the consistency of the patch continued to degrade and cracks were showing up seemingly every day just 6 months after the patch was done. This is ironic because the reason I went with Holland Paving is because I wanted the job done right. They were actually the most expensive bid, but the quote was complete and included the "cutting-out of the tree root area to an approximate depth of 2 - 3 inches" which I understood would delay any future cracking due to the tree roots. I paid the top dollar believing I was getting high-quality product / workmanship coupled with above average customer service - boy was I wrong! When I connected with Holland Paving early in the summer following the completion of the work, I was told they would come out and fix the job if I was willing to pay the remainder of by bill. That is exactly what I had wanted - the job completed correctly - and informed the employee that I would happily pay the remainder of the bill once the work was completed. Instead of a Holland Paving employee coming out to look at the situation, I was asked to send photos and told that after consulting with the owner someone would get back to me in a couple of days. I did send the photos as requested, and noted in the email that the situation looked worse in person than in the photos. After almost three weeks with no word, I reached out and asked for an update. I received an email back stating the following: "We have reviewed before and after pictures and have determined the cracking is reflective and heavy usage of this area. The square markings indicate usage of the asphalt that is other than car traffic. Asphalt comes with a no cracking guarantee on the contract for just this reason. It is our belief that the job was installed as intended." I will include a couple of pictures below of the one of the patch areas in question so any readers can make their own determination. It is worth noting the the picture was taken less than 10 months after the work was completed. More importantly, they state the reason the asphalt cracked is from "heavy usage of this area". That is nonsensical since the cracks are occurring 4 to 6 inches from the edge of the driveway next to a hedge. The part of the driveway that is cracking has NEVER been driven on - doing so would require running the side of the car through the hedge!! The idea that something else would be there creating 'heavy usage" is also non-sensical given the proximity to the hedge. The consistency and color of the area of the patch on the edge had looked "off" since day one. In any case, I responded to the note above asking that someone come out and look at the driveway in person and received an email back stating: "I am sorry this decision was final." Sadly, I just want the job I paid for to be completed properly but no one will even come out and look at the work. The seal coat job was well-done except for a number of black tar splash marks on my recently painted garage doors. If you are going with Holland Paving because you believe you are getting a superior product/workmanship, think again.
Response from Holland Paving
"Holland Paving gives free estimates, taking before pictures during the process. We only have that small snapshot of the driveway to quote what the customer states they want, sometimes this is not engineered to the use of the driveway and becomes evident after the work is completed. We have not been paid for the repairs that were contracted and have fulfilled the agreement as it was written."
