Richard came to work on the toilet while I was at work. My husband (who is handicapped, but fully able to communicate), was home to answer any questions that may arise during the fix. Richard was at my home for about 3-4 hours. He showed up with replacement parts for the toilet, but ended up breaking the water tank while trying to fix it. He did not consult my husband as to what had happened, but left and went to Lowe's to purchase a new toilet. He returned and installed a crisp, white toilet (which does not match our cream-colored fixtures). While installing the new toilet, he realized he didn't have all of the parts and pipes needed for the new toilet, returned to Lowe's for a few more items and came back to finish the installation. The invoice for labor and materials came to $260. I came home, shocked to see a new, white toilet in my bathroom. After talking with my husband, I found out we never gave Richard authorization to install this new toilet. I did a bit of research to find out how much of my bill was for labor and how much was for the parts. I discovered he purchased the cheapest and lowest quality toilet available. I called Richard to discuss the matter. He blamed the toilet for possibly being cracked, and that it wasn't his fault that the toilet tank has a hole in it. He admitted he should not have gone ahead and installed the new toilet without consulting us first, and that he was frustrated and in a bit of a hurry that day. I have chosen a better toilet from Lowe's and will have it installed soon by someone else. Once this is installed, I will call Richard to come and pick up the toilet we did not request. I want him to buy this back from me, as we never agreed to pay for a brand-new toilet. I will not use Handy Firemen in the future for any projects.

They are a local company. The crew is made up of firemen from around the area. They did a fabulous job. They were very prompt and they cleaned up well. They even came back out later to make sure that everything was good. The day that they came out to follow up with me I was having another problem with my house and they arranged to come back out and fix it for me. They were the best estimate that I received. They have been very good about responding and following up with emails.
