Jessie touted as being formerly employed by Forest City Biulders showed up with his son to determine what was needed to start the work which was stated on the initial contract dated 10/17/11, after going through the materials enclosed in the boxes which were bought by myself and taking crucial measurements, Jessie stated that he would return on the third day to actually begin work. Jessie did show up on the the date and time that he said he would, except instead of hearing or seeing the beginning of the sounds of tearing out and removal of the old fixtures, we only heard an odd tapping sound coming from the room. Upon closer inspection we saw Jessie seated on the side of the old bath tub, striking it with a hammer. I asked what the problem was and Jessie stated that he could not begin to do the work because Gary, the owner, was'nt paying him enough money to do the job. Confused since I ahd signed a contract for the labor amount of $4800.00, I wanted to know exactly how my bathroom was going to be remodeled if he had pay issues with Gary. Jessie said that the $1500.00 he was going to get for this job was'nt enough, so I asked how much more did he need to do the work and at that time he stated $600.00 and not mention this arrangement to Gary, the owner. Since my husband's elderly father ,suffering from demetia, needed to be relocated asap, we were under extreme pressure to get the job completed and done right....we paid the ransom. We felt that mentioning this incident to Gary, the owner would probably insure that some type of issue would become evident, which would cause more damage later on in the future. But we did both agree to inform Gary, the owner upon completion which I did. Gary, the owner refused to even entertain the thought that this whole incident had occured and said that we should have told him, when it first occurred. Well, we did'nt for obvious reasons. Gary, the owner saw the finished bathroom and wanted to pay us $200.00 in order to photograph it I guess for advertisement purposes and I refused. During the summer of 2012 I began to notice that the cold water faucet handle was beginning to move in a clockwise manner and I made amental note to contact Class 1 Pavers& Remodelers about having someone come out to re-position and tighten the cold water handle back up. But due to a drunk driver slamming into our house the thought of smaller fixes and repairs were placed on the back burner until 9/12/12. Icalled and was told that somone would get back to me. Not hearing from someone I would call back again and get the same response, over and over again and again. Sometimes Gary, the owner would get on the phone and become irate and nasty with me. My alst encounter I was given a guy, Dave, who said that he would get back to meand when he did he had caught the flu so I eased up out of sympathy and told him to get back in touch when he was'nt ill. I waited and he said the he would come out on the 21st of February'13. when hw did'nt show I contacted the BBB of Cleveland ohio. I was offered repair of the faucet handle and a check for $600.00, if I would sign a release form. I said okay except that I want my $600.00 the same way that I gave it to Jessie. Gary, the owner, sent me word that if I wanted my faucet handle repaired that a year had passed and I would have to pay him to get it done and that if I want cash I should get it from Jessie. So I read my contract and it says that the company is only responsible for one year after work is completed. So I refused to pay Class 1 Pavers again to do what they should have done right in the first place I signed the release form on 3/7/13, emailed it back to BBB Cleveland and have not recieved my $600.00 check. Since spring 2010 we have done over $100K in remodeling and repairs to our residence, and the work is'nt finished, However we will never utilize this company again. Gary is a piece of work and the only reason we had used the company this time is because our driveway and walkway to the house was done right and they glassblocked two large garage windows for us, but that work was contracted by Tony M. who had passed away.
