Everyone involved in the purchasing and installation of this job was professional and prompt.
"[Member name removed], Thank you for your feedback. I am disappointed to hear that you are unhappy with your Champion products, especially since we have worked together on 5 separate windows projects over the past few years. I am also aware that you have referred us on numerous occasions, and I would certainly like to preserve our good working relationship. Just a reminder, you have a lifetime warranty on all of your Champion windows. If there is any manufacturing or labor defect, please contact our office, so that we can take care of any issue you may have. You may also contact me directly if you have other concerns. Thanks again, Andy Wimsatt Division Manager Champion of Cleveland"
The doors were custom measured and fit as expected.
The original doors did have some problems in being removed but the installers worked through the problem and re-frammed as needed due to the original door's non-standard installation.
The installers worked professionally and quickly while focused on the job at hand.
They cleaned up and removed and materials from the work site when finished.
The price is not the cheapest around but that is because their quality is the best around. It is worth the few extra dollars to buy a good quality product.
I had a $30,000 job with lead paint and many, many cuts that needed to be done around many windows and doors. The house is located on a main road and I have had so many compliments and comments about how beautiful it is. Although I lost some of the architectural details on my home, I gained a brand new looking house!!!
Thanks Champion!
Thanks to Frank the foreman, Robert, Billy, and Kevin (?), for all of your dedication and services!! Thanks for driving guys!!

Had Champion install windows 3-5 years ago with questionable results (one window was designed and installed backwards and is still that way today), but I needed to match windows so had them bid more windows in 2013. The price has really increased dramatically in just a few years (for the same glass type), but I took the pain so the windows would match. Installation went OK with one person being informed and the other guy being a beginner that had to be watched closely. This was a change over the last installation team - all of whom were informed.
Champion is no longer a premium window provider. My significant issue is that the "hardware" on the new windows is rubbish and a significantly lower grade than the windows I purchased a few years ago. The crank handles are metal, but of a less user- friendly design than those of a few years ago. The crank mechanisms are not smooth and silent like the old models. I can hear the rubbing and feel a jerky motion. The crank handles pull off - even after securing the set screw and tightening. The crank handle mechanisms are of a lower quality than a few years ago and operate like cheap windows from a big-box store.
Champion is no longer a premium window provider. The lock lever handles were are now plastic! A few years ago they were metal. The lock lever bends and gives when being operated to lock and unlock the windows. It is cheap plastic. This situation is incredible for "hardware" that it supposed to be used for many years. My windows are 10 weeks old and the lock mechanism is stripped - the window will not unlock and cannot be opened. Champion sells plastic window lock "hardware" that fails prematurely. The "hardware" on Champion windows is of poor quality just like the cheap windows at a big-box store.
I called today for a service call to repair the plastic locks - Champion sold me and have to wait 18 days for the first available appointment. That is too long a wait for a premium product and is a reflection of the current business status at Champion. They have fallen in product quality and service. The product and the business itself are underperforming to basic customer expectations. Or said another way, Champion Windows performs perfectly A+ to the expectations of dealing with a contractor that does windows on the side.
1) few years back: knowledgeable installation team. Today: half the crew was uninformed on how to install windows
2) few years back: hardware locks and crank mechanisms were smooth and made of metal. Flawless operation for years now. Today: the crank handles are not smooth in operating and have a poor ergonomic design. Handles come off easily. The lock levers are plastic, they bend, and internal mechanism broke in 10 weeks of infrequent use.
3) few years back I had a follow up phone call after the installation to check customer satisfaction. Today: no call
4) few years back, salesman returned to house to review installation. Today: no follow up
5) few years back: no need for service call. Today: 18 day wait for first appointment to repair my new 10 week old window.
6) few years back: got one can window cleaner each month for a year with the new windows. Today: No such offer
7) few years back: Champion sold a product that was better than the competition. Today: The hardware used in Champion windows is low grade, entry level quality.
The Westlake office of Champion Windows no longer sells a premium product, so you might as well shop the competition heavily. I think you could buy the same level of window from other dealers. This is a change in that Champion used to be above much of the competition. I will add a positive note that the glass and frames are well done and I like the window coating that is used. It is a mismatch to have good glass and frames combined with cheap hardware. It is a real disappointment that they now have poor quality hardware and service. I am surprised at this leadership failure.
Update 8/2/13: Mr. Wimsatt, Manager of Champion, responds that the windows have warranty coverage for the life of the window. True. Unmentioned is the service call fee (trip fee) that begins after a few years, currently $75. They will happily replace the underperforming plastic/nylon locks for free and under warranty after you pay a $75 trip fee and miss some work. I add that Champion did come to my home after the 18 day service delay and replaced the failed nylon lock with another nylon lock. Also, Mr. Wimsatt did call my home and left a VM. I did not return the call - heck the window is in and it is designed with cheap plastic locks. What's the man to do? Service guy told me that it cannot be converted to metal locks. I am stuck due to Champion Window. Please call me anytime you are willing to install quality metal locks Mr. Wimsatt. I have already paid for them!
Former design had two metal pocks per casement. Current design has one plastic lock per casement. The weaker lock now must pull both the top and bottom of the window closed to lock. It is too much load and the nylon gears strip. The new Champion window casement lock is weaker PLUS does double the work. I am challenged to understand how I got a better window (as I was assured) - and the price was higher. "A more high performing product" says Mr. Wimsatt in his response. Two metal locks were replaced with one plastic lock, with evidence of premature failure, and I got "A more high performing product". Who believes this statement? Caution be to all of you! Sad for me because I thought I had found a quality firm to replace the windows in my home and was hopeful to have matched windows for the remainder of the work.
"[member name removed], I certainly apologize for your recent experience with your windows project. It looks like we have failed to provide a follow-up visit with your install. If you are available this week, I am happy to get that scheduled. In terms of the hardware, Champion is continually working to develop a more high performing product for our customers and as a reminder, your warranty covers every part and component associated with each window, for as long as you own them. Also, I just left you a voicemail with my cell phone number, please call me to discuss. Many thanks, Andy Wimsatt Division Manager Champion of Cleveland"
