Dan and Darren Caswell started Caswell Bros. Hardwood Floors in March of 2005 and we are proud to say we've made many customers happy with our hardwood flooring services since then. We offer FREE competitive estimates and more importantly; honest, straight-forward communication to all our clients from job start to finish. Our company features and uses a 100% dust-containment system and only the finest and safest stains and finishes for all hardwood flooring types. Our prices are very competitive without sacrificing quality of workmanship. We offer no unprofessional edger or drum sanding marks and no sloppy final coats of stain & finish - just beautifully renewed hardwood floors!

OMG. Dan. Darren and Mike were wonderful. I can't believe the difference in the floors. They were very professional and extremely prompt. The value for the work that was done was truly unbelievable. I would highly recommend them. I wish we had found them sooner. Love my floors!!!!

Hiring Caswell Bros. for this job was a fantastic decision - they absolutely lived up to their A rating. Not only was their price fair (and actually cheaper than some other estimates I got), but their professionalism was outstanding. They are informative, punctual, and all-around nice guys. And there was practically no dust to clean up! Darren and Doyle did a wonderful job of making my old, stained floor look like brand new wood. They were very helpful with selecting the right stain, getting me to look at it from different angles to see how the light plays on the color. I have a few more floors that need refinishing and I am definitetly going to hire Caswell Bros. again.

Dan, Darren and Harvey did a beautiful job! All parts of the project were seamless. They were very responsive, professional and keep us in the loop through the entire project. The flooring looks wonderful, and they even put down several stain and coating options for us to choose from prior to the entire floor being done. I would definitely recommend them for anyone that is looking to refinish or install new hardwood!

Caswell Bros did a fantastic job refinishing our floors and stairs. Dan was very responsive from the day we asked for a quote until the job was over, keeping us informed every step of the way. Darren and his crew worked very hard to get the job done, and the results are fantastic. We also had a small section of flooring that needed to be replaced, and Harvey did such a great job that we cannot even tell that a section of the flooring was replaced. We would definitely hire Caswell Bros again, and would recommend them to anyone.

AMAZING! Responded same day (Monday), visited on Tuesday, quote was delivered Wednesday. At or cheaper than other reputable "As" on Angies. Included some light furniture moving at no cost. Conformed to our tight schedule (we were going on vacation), and sent daily pictures. DO NOT USE ANYONE ELSE! Pros that do it right, without hassle, and respect your time, money, and schedule.

We had a very good experience with Caswell Bros. We called three different places. Dan Caswell called right away. One company never called back. Dan came out and clearly explained the process and products they use. He was extremely polite, personable and patient with our questions. When we received his estimate by email it was exactly what he stated in person. We did have another person come out and he was rude and made me feel like it was a bother to come out to my house. He barely spoke to me and then slapped a piece of paper on my kitchen island and said here you go and left. It was an easy choice to pick Caswell. They stuck to the original work dates, the men that came out were polite and hard workers. They were super patient with my dog who kept bothering them while they worked. I loved that they let us choose three stains and showed us what each would look like on a small area of our floor. That helped us to choose the right color since we actually could see it.

Caswell Brothers did (in less than 3 days) what 2 other local contractors were not able to do in 8 weeks! We had hired 2 other contractors prior to finding Caswell Bros. The first contractor told us that he was unable to bring back our original floors due to all of the old layers of paint and glue that had been on them from 156 years of wear, carpet and damage. We hired another contractor who said he could do the job, only to be left with an utter disaster. He showed up sporadically, then left us with partially sanded floors and sticky stain applied all over the old wood and glue. He then disappeared with our down payment and never returned. We were at a loss and ready to give up. We called in two flooring companies to give us estimates for a complete tear out and replacement. No one thought the old wood was salvageable. UNTIL....we found Caswell Bros. When I first called them and explained our situation, they were very sympathetic and agreed to come out and take a look. We were farther out than their normal service area, and yet they agreed to come anyway. They knew the area and have family local to here. They were kind professional and honest. They assured us they would do their best to bring back our original floors. After our previous experiences we were a little skeptical, but hopeful. They were able to start the job right away. By the end of day one, my floors were sanded down completely! All of the old sticky stain, lead paint and glue was GONE!!! We were absolutely BLOWN AWAY! It was amazing! They applied 3 coats of a beautiful finish and the entire job was done in less than 3 days. Now, our floors are gorgeous! I wish we would have found them first! They are truly EXPERTS in their craft. We will never use another floor company other than Caswell Bros. Truly just cannot say enough about these guys! Top notch professionals, all the way!

They were great; they communicated very clearly, listened carefully to our questions, and walked us through everything we need to know, and finished the work right on time. And the floors look just great. We were only finished one floor in the house, and so it was important to us that we match the color and character of the other floor, and it looks just splendid. I called Dan at Caswell Bros and left a message about a quote. He called me back within 24 hours and walked me through the process and provided an approximate quote over the phone. He came out a few days later to look at the floor and finalize the quote. He showed up on time and was very helpful in answering my questions. When his team arrived to finish the floors they showed up on time and completed the job in the time frame that they suggested. They whole team was very open in communicating status. The floors look outstanding! These guys do great work and were very easy to work with. I would absolutely use them again.

These people were a God sent. I had called many companies who told me they couldn't or just wouldn't do the work. The floors were in very bad shape. There were many pet stains that other companies didn't want to deal with. When I called Dan and Darren they told me we CAN do it. They told me exactly what to expect being that the floors were in such bad shape. They sent me pictures of before, during and after. You must be saying sent you pictures? Yes that's right sent me pictures because although this job was being done in Cleveland, I live in New York. So do I need to tell you how hard it is to find good people who wont lie and rob you blind knowing you are not in the same city, very hard. Extremely hard, but as I told you before these two men were a God sent. I can NOT express to you enough how extremely happy I am with this job. These floors look BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!! They are true experts and true professionals. Maybe even magicians if you will, because the work they did was magic. I never would have expected that those floors would look the way they do. Dan and Darren thank so very much!

Dan and Darren were great to work with. Communication from Dan was very detailed and informative prior to starting the job. Darren and Mike actually executed the work over four days. They were very friendly, timely, organized and cleaned up well each day during the 4 day duration of the job. They even finished a day early as they quoted 5 days originally. Overall we were blown away how 60+ year old original hardwood floors look brand new again!
Their recommendations on stain color and sealant were spot on. Areas of concern from prior owners carpet tack strips, water damage and general neglect all disappeared. The guys even rounded off a couple steps that were damaged with jagged edges. You'd never know the steps were damaged they way they look now.
Overall these Caswell Bro's are 5 stars and we'll have then back again next year to resurface our hardwood floors upstairs.

I am thrilled with the work Caswell Bros. did on my floors! The floors in my 96-year-old home were in horrible shape. After peeling back the carpet in several areas, we discovered that large areas of the floors had been painted. Unlike another company I had contacted, when Dan Caswell visited to do the estimate, he was confident that the paint could be removed. As the work progressed, we found not only paint, but large areas where the floorboards had been removed and replaced with other materials, including linoleum. Darren Caswell and his crew did extensive repair work, replacing the boards, and staining the floors so that the old and new woods blended together. The refinished floors are so beautiful that it's hard to believe that they were in such bad shape before.

Darren, Mike and Dan have transformed our house. We started with very worn (down to bare wood in some areas), yellowed oak floors. Some were prefinished with a very unnatural layer of lacquer and some were original to the house, but very damaged in spots. Now, the entire floor is uniform and looks brand new! Darren applied six stain colors and helped me choose--even mixing two of the colors to achieve the perfect tone! It is clear these professionals take their job very seriously and are very proud of the work they do. The floors were meticulously sanded and hand-scraped/hand-sanded along the edges and around obstacles like the toilet and built in furniture. They were careful with our moldings and even installed matching vent covers. I was extremely stressed out because my husband and I were unable to remove the piano from the floors, which was agreed upon per our contract. We assumed we could move into the laundry room, but were unable to fit the piano. Instead, Darren and Mike agreed to work around the piano for less money than a professional piano mover would have cost. Our stairs also proved to be a pain and despite the fact that they have to be finished at a later date, the guys were able to handle the additional challenge. I was really worried about the potential dust and smell, but the process was virtually dustless and the floors only smelled for one night. It was quite a process because we have wood throughout our entire first floor, but well worth it in the end. Darren also left 100 felt pads for the furniture, which I thought was nice.
Very impressed and would highly recommend this company for your floor refinishing needs. Now, I just have to save my pennies for new wood installed upstairs!

Dan and Darren Caswell took on our project when others would not: saving a 100-year-old house that needed a ton of work. This was the largest residential job they'd tackled and everything went well. About 2/3 of the floors were oak, the remainder was Douglas Fir and a tiny amount of maple. The fir and maple required a lot of extra sanding due to the softness / hardness, and the oak had been previously sanded by someone without any skill, so it had loads of chatter marks. Darren was able to work those out and helped us pick a stain that makes the floors look magnificent. They were able to accommodate our schedule and worked around other contractors we had at the house. They also made repairs to an area damaged by our painter and footprints in the polyurethane courtesy of our cat. Very trustworthy, we felt ok with providing keys so they could come and go, and most days were 8-10 hours long. When we finish our third floor, there is no question we will hire them again.

made of particle board, needed to be removed so that the family room and
kitchen floors would be at the same level. It was found that the particle board
was glued extensively and crumbled with removal attempts, an unusual situation
which took much more time than anticipated. We were willing to pay a reasonable
additional amount to partially cover this increased and unanticipated work. After
removal was completed, the hardwood floors were installed, sanded, stained and
finished. Throughout this period, the workmen tried to minimize the spread of
dust in the house and cleaned up regularly after themselves. We were allowed to
use the kitchen regularly when possible. There was very little time when we
could not walk on the floors. Final steps involved re-installing the baseboards
and a final cleanup. Darren Caswell offered to return in ten days, after the
finish had hardened, to assist us in moving heavy furniture back into the
family room. He did this with no additional charge.

Very good job on our hardwood floors. Dan did a great job of explaining options and made recommendations on stain colors and sheens. Estimate provided was clear. Dan was able rearrange his schedule to fit our job in to meet schedule we had with other contractors. Really appreciated that. Floors looked great when job was finished. Very low dust, excellent job of cleaning up. Excellent job of repairing holes and replacing damaged boards. Wish I would have noticed that Caswell Bros. has coupon on Angie's List. So I may have overpaid but that was my bad. All in all, very good job and would recommend to others and would hire again.

The Caswell Bros. were great. Dan was extremely thorough with his quote and recommendations for our job. He, Darren, and Brandon were on time and stuck to the timeline they laid out for the work. They were professional, clean, we always felt comfortable with them in our house, and there were no surprises. Oh, and the floors...they are awesome. We couldn't be happier. We obtained a few quotes and went with Caswell brothers based on our overall comfort level with them. They were not the lowest quote but were very competitive. I am posting this review almost a couple years after the work was done, as we had a infant around the time the floors were done and I never got around to posting a review. Darren and Dan did a great job and communicated well. For the longest time after the floors were finished my wife and I kept talking about how great the floors looked. We regret not getting them refinished sooner as our floors were in very poor shape because of a botched finishing job from the prior home owner.
After the first day of sanding they put down three stains that I had selected from their sample board and let me pick which stain to use. This gave me time overnight to pick the stain. Since the stairs and first floor landing are adjacent to our hardwood floors on the first floor I had to get a close match. The first floor floors were in great shape an not part of the work scope. The stain a selected was a close match and blend in nicely with our living room floors.
I would hire Caswell Brothers again for floor refinishing.
