Fantastic. Bob is very thoughtful and analyzes the problem. He found a defective connector in the control panel and repaired the problem. I asked Bob if he also repaired ovens. He tracked down the problem with the broiler and installed a new starter. I would recommend Bob's Appliance Repair to everyone. (it also says good things about Angie's List. I have never had a bad experience with an Angie's List recommendation.)

Bob is amazing!! I manage several rental properties plus I own a home. He has saved me from buying at least a dozen appliances. He's incredibly friendly and informative. He's incredibly affordable and I have yet to call him back to repair the same appliance twice.

I have never had anything but good experiences with Bob. He has even helped me over the phone saving me any charges and the burden of having to have a handy man come over.

This is a very difficult review for me since I have had very different experiences with this guy.  I wrote a review with my first experience (see 6/20/14) which prompted me to call him first and only due to that experience.  I left 2 messages over the course of a two week period with no return call.  I called one more time before moving on which he happened to answer the phone and when I told him I had called twice with no return call he said he'd come right over and did.  It went all downhill from there.  I got a very distinct feeling that I had made a very big mistake as I watched him work.  I am a DIY'er and so regret not having done my homework first because I could have repaired this myself had I done that. Very long story short, he attached a used timer that he had in his truck from some other job to "save" me money on ordering the entire part and told me that if it didn't work or failed shortly that he would put what I paid him that day toward the price of the new part.  He indicated at that time that it would cost a couple hundred dollars and was trying to save me money.  Well I researched the cost of that part and found it on Amazon for $73 out the door. and Sears for $92 plus shipping and tax for a total of $110.  That's when I researched how to fix it and it was literally a 5 minute job.  I called him again in the meantime, since he said he would take care of it, and he did say he would come out and put it in which ultimately I had him do since I had already paid him and figured I might as well get my money's worth, but his attitude was less than pleasant during several more calls regarding the part's arrival.  At one point, he got belligerent with me and I told him I would put it in myself if he was willing to send me half my money back. I thought that half was fair since he did diagnose the issue and he had come out the first time.   He declined that offer, but when he came to put it in, I detected a definite attitude.  Then he would get very friendly and chit chat with me about something totally unrelated.  It was a very strange experience to say the least.  I would not use this guy again. I might add that the amount he charged me was twice what a couple other guys would have charged had I gotten them.  Again, I found this out after the fact.  I certainly learned a couple very valuable lessons from this experience.

Due to the urgency of the situation and the fact it was the Sunday evening before Christmas, Bob was kind and generous enough me call me back and walk through a comprehensive diagnostic review of the issues with our flooding washer over the phone. He enabled me, with appropriate caution, to perform basic repair by guiding me through some complicated enclosure removal and then the removal of the item blocking the washer drain. |His knowledge of our washer (and appliances in general) was encyclopaedic, and his approach to helping us in an emergency was a potent indication of his integrity and ethics. I would not call anyone but Bob in the future for appliance repairs, and strongly endorse him.

He diagnosed the problem over the phone, needed a new igniter. Came, installed, then left. I couldn't be happier. Have used Bob's services on other appliances, trust him completely.

Bob was very thorough, and it went very, very well.  The up/down washer/dryer unit been left from the prior owner in our house, and we were unsure of its condition.  Also, the unit is in a very small space with very little room within which to work.  Other service persons were unwilling to "mess" with that kind of situation, but Bob was so willing and helpful.  In addition to the work mentioned above, Bob explained that the metal frame/base that the washer sits on had bent a little, and that attempting to adjust it, particularly in such a restricted space, would probably be futile, and might do more harm.  He recommended that we leave it as is, ran a test run, and we now have a working washer dryer.  He also took a quick look at our dishwasher, which did not need servicing, and he gave some helpful advice about it.  And, one more thing.  We did not have a stove.  He put us in touch with a customer of his who had a stove (in excellent condition) that they were getting rid of.

Bob returned our call promptly and arrived punctually. He was very careful and thorough in disassembling and cleaning as he went. He immediately identified and fixed the problem and re-assembled all components precisely. Throughout, he watched for and commented on potential future problems, and took specific steps (proactive lubricating of an idler wheel; replacing a thin metal clip with a sturdy hose clamp on the blower spindle) to head off future problems with the dryer. When finished, he briefly inspected our other major household appliances, assessed their condition, and made recommendations for appropriate maintenance. He was quite willing to refer us to another professional in the case of a very elderly (and ailing) exhaust hood fan that was outside his own area of comfort, and did not mind explaining to me items that I could handle myself (such as reversing the door seal on our dishwasher).
This is the second time we've called Bob for appliance repair, and we will absolutely call him again. He genuinely cares about keeping older appliances in service (which aligns well with our own values), and he is generous with advice that is obviously grounded in extensive experience.

Bob returned my call the following business day.  He asked questions
concerning the problem I was having with my wall oven.  He walked me
through various steps to help determine my problem with the oven.  After
trying various steps he suggested I purchase an oven thermometer to
help determine if my oven was heating properly.  After testing the oven
with the thermometer, I found the oven temperature was within the
expected range.  Bob explained some very helpful information regarding
temperature variances and even explained how I might need to calibrate
the oven.   His help resulted in my not needing a service call and when I
asked what I owed for his services, he told me there was no charge!  He
spent over 30 minutes on the phone with me giving me help and was
extremely knowledgeable.  I will definitely call him again for any
appliance repair.

I called Bob and talked with him about the issues I was having with my dryer. He said he could come out the next day to fix it. I asked him if he would be able to come on Saturday, due to my work schedule. He worked around my schedule and said Saturday would be fine. When Saturday came, he called and explained that he had a family emergency and would not be able to make our appointment. He apologized about the cancellation and worked with my schedule again to set up an appointment. Bob came right when he said he would, and fixed everything. In addition to fixing the issues that I had called him about, he cleaned out my entire dryer and the other dryer that I have for my tenants. He gave some very good advice on how to maintain my dryers and was very pleasant.

Our dryer was not working at all. I tried to do things on my own, but this was beyond me. I called Bob, and he promptly returned my call. We agreed to a time. He was actually early by a few minutes. I showed him what the dryer was not doing. He looked it over and in a matter of minutes he had the problem solved. Great guy. I would use him again in a minute.
